  • Great cottage and location!

"This cottage is kept up nicely and has a wonderful location. It is very convenient to Acadia and the carriage roads. The bus stop is a short easy walk and runs frequently. The owners were extremely knowledgeable about the island and all that it has to offer. I would definitely recommend this rental!"

  • ***fabulous and comfortable family getaway***

"We spent a week at Hamblen House (two adults, two teenagers and one dog) and enjoyed it immensely. The house itself is beautiful, well appointed and impeccably clean, the yard is lovely and the owners provided very thoughtful and detailed information about the house itself and the area. The house was well located as a home base for hiking and kayaking on the quieter side of Mount Desert Island, but is also not far from Bar Harbor so that we could easily access all of the National Park. We are very much hoping to come back for another visit as soon as time allows!"

  • House next to Acadia

"We enjoyed staying in your house during July. There was more than enough room for our family of nine. Having kayak rentals right next door was a plus as was the view of the lake from the kitchen window."

  • Convenient and quiet

"We enjoyed staying in Southwest Harbor, avoiding the crowded Bar Harbor area. Since we had a car, this was very convenient. We loved the town of Southwest Harbor, and had a few great meals there. The condo was clean and tidy, and had everything we needed - except Wifi. There is no WiFi, and no Verizon coverage. So if you are a Verizon cell phone customer, your data access is very limited. The whole Mt Desert Island seems to be a roaming area for Verizon, with nothing but 1X data speeds, so it was almost impossible to access data. We have become dependent upon data connections to search for restaurant reviews, hiking trails, and general information about the areas we visit. The TV channels available were very limited as well. Because of this we would probably not stay here again. Also, it is a ground floor condo, with a nice little patio area - if the weather permits. In the fall, this was too cold for us to use, and the condo itself was rather dark. However, for a summer visit, this property would probably be great, especially if you want to avoid the crowded and touristy areas. We appreciated access to laundry facilities, but be advised that is a coin operated laundry, so have quarters handy, and bring your own laundry soap. Since this is a private condo building, there is no change machine or soap dispenser available for purchase."
