  • Delightful, Splendid Accomodations, Great Location!

"We came to cross country ski on Acadia's carriage paths and we had a fantastic time. We have been to Acadia many times in the Summer months and this was our first trip in the Winter. We loved the ChaseHouse's warm interior colors, comfortable furnishings, beds and the radiant floor heat kept the house and us toasty warm. We loved the location as well. The Village of Otter Creek and the ChaseHouse sit in the middle of Acadia National Park on a quiet residential street with fantastic views of the South Rim of Cadillac Mountain. Yet, it's less than a 5 minute ride to the center of Bar Harbor. We definitely plan on staying at the ChaseHouse when we revisit in the Summer months."

  • Great location near Acadia

"Tod and Suze's home was beautiful and well appointed to make our stay very comfortable. There were many thoughtful touches throughout like the welcome note, smiley faces pressed into the cushions and rock cairns throughout. The house is located just a couple minutes down the road from an entrance to Acadia so it was very convenient staying there. They include a vegetable list of available produce from there on site garden that you can request from which was a nice extra touch! We would definitely recommend their apartment to anyone looking for a warm but private place to stay while visiting Acadia and Mount Desert Island."

  • Excellent house for a large group

"Alpenhof proved to be an excellent choice for our small family reunion. There are two small downstairs bedrooms each with its private bath. For the two of us that are elderly these were great. The upstairs had a lovely master suite as well as two other bedrooms that shared a large bathroom with shower. I have rented a number of other houses over the years but this one exceeded any of them as far as the kitchen equipment. Whenever we needed a particular gadget, silverware, whatever all we had to do was look and there it was. The support to help with any questions or problems we had was excellent. After a couple of days one of the showers downstairs slowed to a trickle. I called the plumber whose number was listed by the phone and he was there before noon. Unbelievable! At home I usually have to wait a day or two before getting a plumber to come. On the esthetic side Alpenhof is surrounded by a lovely small forest which provides complete privacy. All you have to do is walk to the end of the long driveway and turn right for a few yards to see the water. Northeast Harbor is the ideal location for a vacation stay. It's only a twenty minute drive to the shops and restaurants of Bar Harbor. There are a few shops and restaurants in the village itself but if you are in the mood for more activity Bar Harbor is very close. Acadia National Park is also very close and provides many hiking paths and beautiful views wherever you drive or walk. We stayed at Alpenhof the first two weeks of June and enjoyed the cool weather since all of our group came from hot climates ranging from Phoenix to New Orleans. It was hard to leave. Everyone one of us would happily return in a heartbeat. Last but not least the owners were very easy to work with and quickly responded to every question I had about Alpenhof including detailed directions for getting there from the airport. All in all I highly recommend Alpenhof to anyone seeking a comfortable home in which to enjoy the beautiful rocky coast of Maine."

  • Overall very pleased with the property

"The property is exactly as described in the listing. We had 6 adults and 4 kids staying at the house and we still have a room that wasn't used. When we first arrived we were greeted by a very nice welcome package laid out by the owners. They left out marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate and skewers for smores, blueberry soda and post cards. We started a fire in the firepit (firewood provided by the owners) that very night and the kids had a blast making smores and filling out post cards to send to their friends. The location is close to just about everything. The next morning we drove 5 minutes to Southwest Harbor to rent bikes from the Southwest Cycle shop for a bike ride at Witch Hole Pond and then spent the rest of the day in Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor is 15-20 minutes away depending on traffic conditions but definitely not a bad drive. Most of the rest of the week we went hiking, did more much more biking on the numerous carriage trails and went to the beach at Echo Lake which was about a 1 minute drive from the house. We arrived at the beach around 10am and there was plenty of parking and lots of space on the beach. The kids had a blast building sand castles and swimming. During our stay the a breaker was tripped and the lights went out in one room. Unfortunately the secondary panel was where we could not access, but the good news was I called and sent a text to the owner and he was out to fix the problem quickly. The next day we locked ourselves out of the house but luckily we were on our way out for a bike ride and again I just sent Frank a text and he had the house unlocked for us by the time we were done with our bike ride. A few days later Frank sent me another text just to make sure everything was going alright and we didn't need anything else. The customer service was great and Frank is a great guy. The property is well maintained, the lawn was nicely manicured, the rooms were clean and spacious. Hopefully we can make this a yearly trip. My wife also noted that she was pleasantly surprised by the amount of books and board games available. We had one rainy day during our trip but the kids were happy reading books and playing board games while the adults just kicked back to relax. I think the only drawback is that the family room couch wasn't that comfortable, but if you are in this area you shouldn't be sitting around on the couch anyway, you should be out exploring Acadia!"
