  • Cute rustic retreat

"Enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Great location close to the lake and Acadia State Park. The only drawback is the road noise as is stated in other reviews. Lots of cars travel the road in front of the cabin at fairly high speeds. Also, if you are used to warm weather, get the wood burning stove going right away; it was cold inside! This is not a winterized cabin. Pepper had everything ready for us (including the wood stove) when we got there. The place had everything we needed. Try to arrive at the cabin during daylight hours; we got there in the dark and had trouble finding it."

  • Our Acadia Trip

"My family and I were looking so forward to our trip to Acadia National Park. We spent a few days hiking and exploring the area. What made our trip even more enjoyable and more special was our stay in Southwest Harbor (property #715253). It was just as I imagined a quaint Maine cottage to be. The house was clean and spacious. We made breakfast every morning, packed our lunches for our hikes, then came home hours later to rest comfortably in front of a beautiful fire. The property is unique in that it sits right next to a very old cemetery, which at first I was skeptical, but then loved the history of it. The house is easy walk to the town of Southwest Harbor where there is a convenient grocery store and good restaurants. There are hiking trails within minutes of the property, but also Bar Harbor is only 15-20 minute drive where the trails in Acadia are abundant. Some trails we went to (Jordan Pond and Cadillac Mtn) are on Park Loop Road and are a little further (25-30 mins) but so worth it. Both were a highlight of the trip. The owner was wonderful to work with, very responsive and accommodating. The owner was very detailed about how to enter the house when we arrived and left a binder on the kitchen table that details everything about the property, local attractions not to miss, where to get groceries, and favorite local restaurants. I would recommend this home to anyone and if we go back sometime (and I hope we do) I would rent the home again without question."

  • Great House, Great Location

"This was our first time traveling to Maine, and we are so glad we chose this home for our vacation. The house is located in a quiet location, which is semi wooded. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The location is perfect for exploring Acadia National Park as well as the other Towns in the area, and is close to many restaurants. We spent most of our time exploring Acadia National Park and did a lot of hiking daily. It was nice to come back to the house and relax in the hot tub on the back deck. The house has a gas fireplace in the living room and we used it nightly, it was nice to relax on the couch watching TV and the fire. The owner is great to deal with, she always promptly answered any questions I had prior to our arrival. We will definitely be renting this house again when we come back to Maine. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone visiting the area."
