  • Wonderful vacation with family at the Healing Porch

"Staying at this house in Northeast harbor turned out to be a tremendous part of our vacation to Bar Harbor. We did spend time enjoying the fast paced life of Bar Harbor and the awesome scenery of Acadia, but the Healing Porch was a wonderful place to hang out and re-group. This quiet, clean and comfortable house provided everything we needed for a relaxing family time. Those of us that are early risers enjoyed the mornings sitting on the porch with coffee and conversation. Dinners with everyone at the same table were priceless. The owner was very accommodating and very available. I feel like, at times, we bothered him a little too much for advice about the area, but Don handled every inquiry with a smile and solid information. If I can convince the group (13) to go again next year this is our choice place to stay."

  • Wonderful

"Beautiful home that has been completely renovated, including all new furnishings. Instead of feeling like we were intruding by staying in someone's home, it felt like we were staying in a high end hotel with three bedrooms that comfortably accommodated our family of five. Kitchen is fully equipped. New washer/dryer. Flat panel TV with all of the channels. Great patio with propane grill. Well maintained landscaping. The home is walking distance to Northeast Harbor's shopping, restaurants and marina. Acadia is minutes away by car and Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor are short drives. Nothing to gripe about. Isn't that what vacation is all about?"

  • Beautiful, comfortable home with amazing views

"Our family (including 3 boys, ages 16, 14 and 11) loved Reath Rock and the surrounding area! The home was very comfortable, spacious and very we'll equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed the spectacular views from the deck before and after we explored the various hiking trails during the day. The home was conveniently located to many areas of interest on the island, so it didn't take long to return to Reath Rock to relax following our adventures. Many nights we played board games, cards and cribbage. We made many special memories during our stay which made it very difficult to leave. We hope to visit again someday. Thank you for sharing your special home with others!"

  • As comfortable as home

"Sow's Ear was an absolute delight for our family of 3. It only took one day of close attention to get our 5yo daughter to look and not touch all of the interesting decorations spread around the house. The kids room is adjacent to the stairs so wouldn't recommend for under 3's without bringing a portable gate, but otherwise great. The house is very new and super comfortable. With the windows closed it is super quiet. When open, you get a fantastic airflow. The natural light throughout is also great. Although on a neighborhood side street, it is easy walk into NE Harbor (5 min or less, faster on bike), which also has a new co-working space if you need that sort of thing during your stay. The location is very convenient to everything on the island with easy bus access if you don't want to drive. The kitchen is fully setup for whatever you need and the furniture is newer and comfortable. the gardens are truly remarkable and very relaxing. Having access to the garage for storing bikes was great, so I didn't have to keep them tethered to the car the entire week. Also, don't miss a visit to the Naturalist's Notebook store in NEH. Also learned that the street you come into ties into scenic Sargent's Drive so it makes the drive home and in the morning all that much more appealing when going to other parts of the island."
