  • Fabulous stay at Dee Dee's Apt. B!

"My three friends and I chose Dee Dee's Apt. B for our mini-reunion "home base" and found it absolutely perfect in every way. We had plenty of sleeping spaces, appreciated the two bathrooms and laundry, and loved hanging-out in the living room and kitchen/eating area. Everything was spotless, well appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed being able to cook a few meals and the ease and convenience of being able to walk to town. Dee Dee was a fabulous resource for restaurants, the grocery store and post office, the wonderful Fourth of July celebration events and all things "Acadia." We loved the fresh bread she made for us and the way that she made us "feel like family." We'd love to come back again and enjoy this wonderful place!"

  • Enjoyable Cottage Near Working Harbor

"My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at this cottage. It is perfect for two people looking for a home base to virtually anywhere on Mt. Desert Island. The kitchen was very well equipped with anything a traveler may need (the coffee filters were particularly appreciated). We found the patio to be quite lovely in the morning and a nice way to rest weary legs at the end of the day. A few items that are important to note for future visitors. First, the cottage is on Rt. 102, which means there is some car noise from 6:00 am until early evening. Rt. 102 has a limited shoulder and is not suitable for safe running/walking, in my opinion. Second, the bedroom faces east, making it rather bright in the morning even with a shade and blinds. The final point is not related to the cottage though worth noting. Bass Harbor is remotely located relative to the rest of the island. Southwest Harbor is less than 5 minutes away, but Bar Harbor can be as much as 45 minutes with traffic. Overall, a great place for a couple looking to get away from it all and take in the pleasures of the quiet side (be sure to go over to Seawall with a bottle of wine and some cheese, it's totally legal!)."

  • Acadia Cove Cabin is perfect!

"We spent a week in mid-June in Acadia Cove Cabin and had a wonderful time. The cabin feels very remote and private, yet Southwest Harbor with stores and restaurants is just a 7 minute drive, and pretty much everything else can be reached in 20 minutes: Bass Harbor Light, Bar Harbor, Park Loop Road, Jordan's Pond, Cadillac Mountain, etc. The view from the deck and living room over Somes Sound is absolutely amazing! At low tide there is a bit of shoreline to explore, and in the mornings you can see the lobster boats come and check their traps. The kitchen comes with all the tools and utensils you need, and there were some basic spices and oils, as well as dish washing liquid and dish and paper towels. The bathroom had lots of nice fluffy towels and plenty of bathroom tissue for the week. The internet went out a few times, but usually came right back on, and the signal was very strong. The owner responded quickly to questions and was very easy to deal with - no extra charges for cleaning, linens or the dog. We would definitely visit again!"

  • Wonderful vacation cottage

"Karen's cottage is exactly as advertised. We brought our two dogs and it was a great property for them as well as a wonderful neighborhood to walk them in. The cottage is well furnished and lacks for nothing. As other reviewers have mentioned she has provided just about anything you could think of needing. Truly the only thing I would add or bring if we return would be Ziploc bags. The living room is well furnished and all of the furniture is comfortable. The queen size bed is great for sleeping and there are plenty of linens as well. The cottage stayed cool and there were fans if needed. We didn't get to use the deck very much, but it is functional with plenty of seating. The property is right down the road from Acadia and Bar Harbor. We went back and forth several times each day and it was very convenient from the cottage. We did not find the traffic overly challenging and were typically able to get parking in town. Acadia is breathtaking and Bar Harbor enchanting. The water pump noise was unfamiliar and it startled us at first until we figured out what it was. The shower water pulses which took some getting used to. This was not a problem, just different. There is a large screen TV with Direct TV which was very nice and wi fi that worked great. Karen is very helpful and obviously takes pride in her property. Her dog is adorable and our dogs were happy to have him visit. We didn't have any problems during our stay. There was a flood light out and she bought a new one that my husband put in for her. The yard was mowed and free from dog waste and she provides tools for cleaning up messes if needed. We had hoped we could get down to the ocean near the property when the tide was out, but it was not very easy due to the rockiness of the shoreline. This was a little disappointing, but we just went down the road a short ways when the tide would go out and enjoyed it from there. Karen recommended the Chart Room to eat at and it was excellent. We would definitely go back. One thing to think about possibly adding that we would enjoy would be a fire pit This is a great cottage rental and we would definitely stay here again if we return to the area, which we hope to do. Thank you Karen"
