  • Peaceful, Homey Vacation Home

"I recently stayed at Gardencourt with 3 friends from West Virginia. It was easy to find once we got into the area. Gardencourt was clean and welcoming. The home was lovely and the area was safe and peaceful. It was comfortable and had everything you could possible need. It's always great to have a washer/dryer when on vacation! The owners were friendly and the location was perfect for everything we wanted to do."

  • Beautiful, peaceful, idyllic Maine home.

"Our family of 4 and another family of 4 shared this home for the last week. I cannot put into words how wonderful this home is. The pictures, as beautiful as they are, do not do the home justice. Driving into the driveway, after a long flight, we were welcomed with an incredibly beautiful home, that is so peaceful and comfortable to live in. The kitchen was perfect for food preparation, the bathroom and bedroom layout was fantastic, the dining was spacious for 8 of us, but could easily fit another 2 or maybe even 4? However, the best part of the room is that sunroom that overlooks the water. Drinking coffee there in the morning was the most peaceful part of my day, perhaps the most peaceful part of my year! The kids enjoyed heading to the water at low tide, picking up dozens of mussels which we enjoyed every evening. We loved the home and will definitely stay there when we come back."

  • Couldn't have asked for more!

"We were first timers to Maine and Acadia. We had heard from many people we know about the crowds in the park. Initially, we debated changing our plans for vacation because we were trying to escape the hustle and bustle of our everyday life. We are glad we didn't. The Tern II is an amazing property. We were all taken with the peace and quiet of the property not to mention the beauty of both the house itself and the landscape. The house is rustic and charming with room for everyone to hang out together or find their own space. The views from the windows and deck overlooking the ocean were gorgeous watching the changing tides and the abundant wildlife. Sitting out on the deck at night, I don't remember the last time I had seen so many stars. We found the house stocked with everything we could possibly need - cooking utensils, towels and extras most rental homes don't include. The location is very convenient to the park and restaurants yet far enough away to be able to escape the crowds. Overall, there isn't anything negative that I can say about our stay here. It made for a relaxing and memorable family vacation."

  • Quiet week on MDI

"Our family had a great week at Windiana III. Bottom line - Would we go back? - Absolutely! Two weeks after our visit, I am still thinking about sitting on the deck with a glass of wine, listening to the loons. The house was at the tip of a peninsula that extends into Long Lake. There is a 5+ minute drive down a single lane, 15mph gravel road to get to the house, but once you are there, you appreciate the solitude. Loons on the lake, daily bald eagle sightings, catching trout (small) from the dock, kayaking and canoeing, beautiful scenery....... The house has 3 bedrooms, and may be a little cramped inside for a large family (5+ adults), but was more than spacious for the 3 of us, plus dog! Also, there is a very large deck to spread out. Diana, our host was staying next door, so she was always available for advice or just to chat. The location is very central, with a short drive to Somesville and Southwest harbor. It is a little further to Bar Harbor (20min), but worth being away from the crowds. The kitchen is small, but well stocked. We decided to keep it simple and use the grill. A word of warning if you are going to MDI off season - everything shuts down early, so don't expect to get a pizza at 8:30pm, unless you want to drive into Bar Harbor. Internet service in the house is spotty, but we encountered that all over MDI. The lake was quiet during our stay, with just a few motor boats out fishing. Not sure about peak season, but I can't imagine it would be that different. There is a washer/dryer. Also, the house seems very handicapped accessible. Diana's dog Tucker played with our dog Tucker (T1 and T2), which, along with a swim in the lake, helped to wear him out! The water was not that cold, and I was able to get in for a while in early June. It was a very enjoyable week."
