  • Beautiful home in gorgeous setting

"This is a spacious and well-maintained home with a private pier in a quiet area of the beautiful lake. We really liked staying at the house and enjoyed canoeing on the lake, barbecue on the porch and smores at the fireplace. Everything was there and ready to use – hammock, canoe and kayaks, fishing rods, fresh garden herbs in a pot, propane grill, and fire place. Easily homes 6 adults. Found it easily, everything as described. The hosts replied quickly to questions. Would recommend it to my friends and family. Hoping to come back next year! Thank you!"

  • Quiet, relaxing get away

"We were looking for a quiet getaway on any type of body of water to get our minds off of work. Bottom line, loved it! The only con I would need to give is the beds. House was clean and beautifully kept. Updated bathroom and kitchen was beautiful. Everything listed on the description was accurate, nothing was a surprise. The owners were extremely organized and had all important phone numbers as well as any other information needed in case of emergency. I love history and keeping precious things in the family - this house is just that. A family treasure passed down from generation since 1922. It had that old cabin feel - well, because it is an old cabin! Reminds me of a family house I used to stay at most summers when I was a kid. The house is located perfectly on the pond; large front and side yards for play, and a good spaced yard in the back where the house faces the water to also play. We sat on the Adirondack chairs on the grass, or sometimes sat in the beautiful porch while sipping our coffee or wine, and stared out at the beautiful sunset/sunrise over the pond, or read a book all while listening to the loons and frogs chirp (love those sounds!). There is also a small beach to sit and relax on your beach chair. They had a canoe and two kayaks we could use. We jumped off the dock to swim, then played corn hole, wiffle ball, frisbee and board games while cooking on the charcoal grill. After dinner we watched movies on the flat screen TV with DVD player. No cable, no wifi ... just back to basics on the water. I really enjoyed watching the kids have fun with these basics and figuring out how to keep themselves busy. One other plus about this house, is its location. Just a few minutes from Camden ME, we went to the Camden Hills State Park and hiked Mt. Battie, shopped and ate on the harbor ... lots to do there. Also not too far from restaurants, shopping and movies in Rockland. The owners have a booklet with instructions as well as a list of "things to do". One of our favorite restaurants is located just a few minutes from the house in Hope called the Hatchet Mountain Publick House. Great American food, reasonably priced and terrific, warm atmosphere with a wood stove and bar. My daughter is a very picky eater, had the 'best' mozzarella sticks she's ever had."

  • Great vacation lake

"The positive: It's a very beautiful lake.... crystal clear. The house comes w two kayaks and a paddle board. ( fun ! ) There's a wonderful granite beach with huge rocks within walking distance. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. It's a quiet, safe and friendly area and you can hear the loons at night. There's a great breakfast place right up the road. The cons: the house is not lakefront..... (although it's VERY close.) The dock is kind of high above the water and a small steep rock area make it a bit difficult to get the kayaks in and out of the water."

  • Great Winter Getaway!

"We had a perfect New Years weekend, complete with 18 inches of fluffy snow! Lots to do in the area, including snow tubing and ice skating in nearby South China, ME! Our family picked this location because it was central to all of our extended family that lives in Maine (We are from CT). We were able to gather with several brothers and sisters and their families throughout the weekend..... and the basement was perfect for a large group of kids! Plenty of room and places to sleep. The house had everything we needed. Thanks for giving us a place to make lots of fun memories. The kids and adults had a blast!"
