  • Wonderful Family Holiday

"We very much enjoyed staying in this property - so characterful and well equipped, and ideally located for us near the centre of MDI (you will need a car however). Beds were comfortable and the setting was very pretty. We will be back!!!"

  • Lovely Maine home, perfect for a large family

"6 adults and 3 children enjoyed this beautiful home for a week. Our kids were never bored, and spent hours kayaking and swimming off the dock on the property. The home was large enough to accommodate the mix of family members and everyone always had a space to read, play a board game, or just sit on the lovely deck and enjoy the amazing view of Somes Sound. The house is fully stocked and there was nothing we needed. The owners even provide ample linens & towels. The caretaker was very helpful, and when we lost power for a few hours one evening because of a trim limb down, she responded quickly to let us know what was happening. The location on the quieter side of the island was perfect, and we enjoyed many evenings in Southwest Harbor, although we were only a short drive from Bar Harbor as well. Couldn't have planned a more idyllic vacation, in large part because of this great property."

  • Nature at its finest ... with creature comforts

"Tucked into the side of a peaceful, wooded peninsula jutting out into tranquil Sandy Pond, this well loved and impeccably maintained cabin provided a perfect Maine retreat. Highlights included: Strolling to 'the Point' and sipping morning coffee as the eagles soared effortlessly above. Swimming in the pristine, refreshing lake water and drying off on the massive, sun-warmed boulders. Exploring the unique corners of the lake by kayak in the morning calm ... and by sparkling moonlight. Biking the scenic and rolling country roads. Relaxing in the hot tub while entertained by near constant activity at the perfectly located bird feeder. Gathering fantastic local farm produce and seafood during sightseeing trips to the coast and nearby villages. Reading by the flickering fireplace on a rainy afternoon. Toasting amazingly beautiful and ever-changing sunsets at 'the Point'. Eating simple dinners on the enclosed summer porch with the surrounding treetops subtly and beautifully lit. Falling asleep to rustle of the breeze through the trees and the periodic call of the resident loons. The cabin was as attractive, comfortable and efficient as described by the owner, Paul, and other reviewers. Monica, the cabin manager, was very welcoming and helpful. We would highly recommend this property to those seeking a perfect mix of pristine lakeside nature and country living close to wonderful sight seeing on the Maine coast. We hope to return someday!"

  • Stunning Views

"We had the most enjoyable stay at Windiana. We felt very relaxed and comfortable the minute we arrived until we departed . The lake views were very enjoyable with the changing of the trees and listening to the loons sing to one another. The fall weather allowed us to cook outside on the grill, canoe the lake, and enjoy the sunsets on the dock among many other great activities we had at our finger tips. We will definitely be back to stay again soon!"
