  • A Modern Cottage on the Quiet Side

"Cove Cottage is a modern, 2-bedroom, 2-bath cottage with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, pleasant living room with a vaulted ceiling, upstairs sitting room, large downstairs deck and an upstairs balcony. We found it a very relaxing place to recover from Acadia National Park hiking, and we found the owners (who built the cottage and live next door) very helpful whenever we needed it. The beds are good, the towels are fluffy, the yard is truly beautiful, and at night there is the quiet of forest and sea, rather than cars or trucks or partying bar-hoppers; what more do you need? The stairway to the second level is rather steep, and there are steps between the parking area and the entrance to the cottage; so we would not recommend this place to those with physical challenges. Everybody else, however, will find it a refreshing change from the crowded tourist havens a few miles away. And if you long for somebody else to make breakfast for you, zip into nearby Southwest Harbor for the best popovers on Mt. Desert Island, at the non-profit Common Good Soup Kitchen, where locals and tourists contribute whatever they want, in return for those plump delicacies."

  • Perfect, cozy, relaxing spot

"My boyfriend and I stayed in this lovely cottage while exploring Acadia. It was perfect for the two of us! Much more spacious than the pictures show. The flowers were welcoming as was the sunny, open entryway/living room. We were half an hour from most of the hikes we wanted to do but very close to Southwest Harbor which was a classy and quaint town with just enough delicious restaurants and activity to keep us satisfied. We even got pizza one early evening and brought it back to the cottage and sat outside on the patio and ate pizza and drank beers. We had scrumptious seafood in town a few nights as well. It was peaceful and private and felt like we were in our own little world. There were a few hikes we also did close to the cottage and Bass Harbor lighthouse was just a few minutes down the road. We had wanted to extend our stay because we were enjoying our time so much but someone else was arriving. Leslie was great on the phone when we were first exploring options and we are so thankful we decided on this location once we became familiar with a few of the other towns we were checking out online. If you want a home away from home that is close enough to different activities and great food but far enough that you aren't right in the thick of tourist hell, this is definitely a perfect option."

  • Quiet and comfortable

"We had a great stay in this clean and comfortable home in a quiet location. The home had everything we needed for the week. The owners, Jim and Robyn, communicated very well with questions we had prior to renting and also provided a tremendous amount of information on what to do during our visit. We would recommend the property to others and would stay there again for a return trip. The property is located within a short drive to Acadia National Park where we enjoyed hiking and biking. Wonderful property and owners."

  • FABULOUS!!!

"After staying many times in the crazy busy Bar Harbor area we decided to stay on the "quiet" side of the island. This house and the location were absolutely the right choice. Easy to find, right on the harbor, the house was immaculate and perfect for two couples. I was afraid it was going to be on the small side but the layout of the house made it perfect. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you would need to cook and eat in. (Even a fully stocked Keurig coffee machine). If cooking in is not your style there are plenty of restaurants in the immediate area. We also REALLY enjoyed exploring Southwest Harbor (ten minutes away). To sum it up when we go back to Mt Desert Island this will be the place we stay! PS Ken, the owner is amazing to work with!!!"
