  • FABULOUS!!!

"After staying many times in the crazy busy Bar Harbor area we decided to stay on the "quiet" side of the island. This house and the location were absolutely the right choice. Easy to find, right on the harbor, the house was immaculate and perfect for two couples. I was afraid it was going to be on the small side but the layout of the house made it perfect. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you would need to cook and eat in. (Even a fully stocked Keurig coffee machine). If cooking in is not your style there are plenty of restaurants in the immediate area. We also REALLY enjoyed exploring Southwest Harbor (ten minutes away). To sum it up when we go back to Mt Desert Island this will be the place we stay! PS Ken, the owner is amazing to work with!!!"

  • What a find!

"Having family with grandchildren on MDI, it is often a challenge to find a place to stay in the off season. Manset Studio is a wonderful find for our family! Mary's hospitality was evident from the moment of arrival, with a handwritten note, a basket of fresh fruit, homemade jam, and snack bars. The studio is aesthetically pleasing with its light wood floors, walls and ceiling. Comfortable living area with access to small deck with meadow views, great lighting for reading or knitting, TV, games, puzzles, magazines, a comfy futon sofa and armchair share half of the space with a fully-equipped kitchen that reminded me of a sailboat galley, with its efficient use of space. There was even milk and juice in fridge, coffee beans, tea, cocoa and all the fixings for lobster meal or picnic. Beautiful botanical paintings on mugs and plates. The front half of the studio contains the most cozy comfortable bed built into its own nook. Staying in January, the flannel sheets, down comforters, and throws, along with excellent reading lights made me want to burrow in till spring! A wall shelf filled with a variety of books sits waiting, a big window catches the sun, there is a small desk and chair equipped with radio/streaming. Adjacent is the spacious bathroom with great lighting, shower with excellent water pressure. This studio met all of my needs for an extended stay. Excellent heat in winter, ceiling fan for summer months with cross ventilation. Private drive for parking very convenient. Mary's discreet accessibility made me feel welcomed, and I knew I could seek her wisdom for local resources. This hideaway studio is a gem! Thank you for all you did to make my stay so welcoming and comfortable, Mary! Judy Young van Wageningen, NH"

  • Cute & Convenient location to all tourist sites

"The Little House is cute and cozy and tastefully decorated. It is conveniently located to get to all of the tourist sites in the area yet far enough removed to have peace and quiet in the evening. The kitchen has everything that you could possibly need during your stay in regard to pots & pans, dishes, utensils, etc. Fair warning: you must be able to squat down and get back up to access dishes & cups as they are in a lower cupboard. My husband has difficulty in that regard but it wasn't a problem for me. The bed is comfortable but is only full size. The second bedroom has two twin beds so the cottage is accommodating for families. The backyard is beautiful with gardens, a picnic table, adirondack chairs and a BBQ charcoal grill. The west facing side deck has a table and two chairs and was a relaxing place to sip my tea in the morning. The Little House is located on a private road so the only cars going by are that of the owner and guests staying in the other rental house up the lane. There are great bagels and muffins and coffee a short walk up the street on the corner and also a small cafe to have a full breakfast. My husband brought his bicycle and found all kinds of roads and trails to explore in the morning while he waited for me to wake up. Acadia is a must. See Cadillac Mountain and Sand Beach and beautiful overlooks. There's a small lighthouse in Bass Harbor. If you don't mind climbing over rocks, there's a great sunset view from the eastern side. Head left from the parking lot rather than going down to the right if time is short. Echo Lake is nearby as is Little Long Pond. Don't miss sunset at Seal Cove! It was my favorite spot of all but not well marked for road signage. Continue all the way down Seal Cove Road (it turns to dirt; don't worry...it's passable and heavily used). At the end, turn right and take your next left. I believe it's Cape Road. There's a mini lighthouse on the corner. Seal Cove is just a short distance from there. It's also a great place to see lobster boats coming in with their fresh catch and loading them onto trucks. There's also access to put a canoe or kayak into the water and relatively calm since it's a cove. Lastly, if you are 62 or older you qualify for a $10 lifetime pass to any national park, which includes free admission for EVERYONE who is with you! If you don't already have one, you can buy one at Acadia. There is one plus to aging! :)"

  • A Wonderful Stay!

"This lovely cottage was perfect! Love the wooden floors, big windows and cozy atmosphere. This cottage is well taken care of and it shows. We had a great week hiking all over the island and always looked forward to coming back to our home away from home. Thank you Louise and Jim! We already miss beautiful Mount Desert Island."
