  • Great House in a Great Place

"This is a very comfortable house. It's a nicely restored older Mt. Desert Island house in Manset/Southwest Harbor. Southwest Harbor is a Maine working harbor at the base of Somes Sound and away from the busier Bar Harbor. It's a charming place in so many small ways, and has first-rate restaurants. The house reminds me of farm houses in Iowa (my birthplace). The owners, Sara and Ian, restored the woodwork and floors and saved the homey and comfortable nature of the house. The house is very nicely furnished and decorated, and the kitchen has a superb stove. The owners are great hosts who are accommodating and connected to their guests. My wife and I were married on Mt. Desert Island and have stayed twice in this house for our wedding anniversary visits, and we hope to return."

  • Seawall Southwest Harbor House

"Seawall is a beautiful home, secluded and private. Very well equipped and immaculately clean with so many amenities. The kitchen is well stocked with every appliance you can think of. The owner has thought of everything to make your stay extremely comfortable and homey. The views of the ocean are spectacular. Sitting on the porch was awesome, as well as fires on the beach. He provides the wood and kindling. You really don't need to bring a thing. Towels and bed linens are provided too. You can even hitch a ride on a free shuttle bus that can take you to various places in Acadia National Park. Great yard for children in to play too. I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed."

  • Can't wait to go back!

"Our family of four (our two daughters ages 11 and 13, my husband and me) spent a week here in June 2016 - the Knollette and Mount Desert Island are HEAVEN! This cottage was perfect for us. Wonderful space for our breakfasts and dinners, complete with charcoal grill and firepit in the backyard. Very private but with easy access to everything. We loved morning walks to the causeway down the street, went in to some part of Acadia Park every day, and the cottage is a pretty short walk to downtown Southwest Harbor and about a 20-minute drive to Bar Harbor. The Knollette has everything we needed for our week - washer/dryer, card-playing space, big windows of the yard and surrounding woods to see the deer, coffeemaker and great beds. In Acadia we recommend hiking Gorham and Champlain Mountains, spending plenty of time atop Cadillac, Jordan Pond Trail and biking the carriage roads. Eat lots of ice cream at the Quietside Cafe and MDI Ice Cream. The Knollette made our trip a total hit because of it's amenities, peace and location. The owner is very responsive and was VERY accommodating; we even got to meet him during our stay. We will be back! Hoping for TWO weeks next time!"

  • The perfect little cottage for your ideal vacation

"We spent 3 nights here and enjoyed every moment. It's very close to Southwest Harbor and just around the corner from the lighthouse and the Ship Harbor & Wonderland trails. Cadillac Mt and Jordan Pond are also just a short drive. The cottage was perfect for us and we highly recommend skipping the crowded tourist trap of Bar Harbor and stay on the quiet side and enjoy the nature of MDI."
