  • Acadia Cove Cabin is perfect!

"We spent a week in mid-June in Acadia Cove Cabin and had a wonderful time. The cabin feels very remote and private, yet Southwest Harbor with stores and restaurants is just a 7 minute drive, and pretty much everything else can be reached in 20 minutes: Bass Harbor Light, Bar Harbor, Park Loop Road, Jordan's Pond, Cadillac Mountain, etc. The view from the deck and living room over Somes Sound is absolutely amazing! At low tide there is a bit of shoreline to explore, and in the mornings you can see the lobster boats come and check their traps. The kitchen comes with all the tools and utensils you need, and there were some basic spices and oils, as well as dish washing liquid and dish and paper towels. The bathroom had lots of nice fluffy towels and plenty of bathroom tissue for the week. The internet went out a few times, but usually came right back on, and the signal was very strong. The owner responded quickly to questions and was very easy to deal with - no extra charges for cleaning, linens or the dog. We would definitely visit again!"

  • Spectacular house!

"We were 3 couples who had a wonderful time in an amazing house. It was very clean, comfortable, well stocked and well appointed. Fabulous views of Frenchman's Bay. Can't say enough about it. Janice was very helpful with ideas and recommendations. We didn't want to leave!"

  • Quiet week on MDI

"Our family had a great week at Windiana III. Bottom line - Would we go back? - Absolutely! Two weeks after our visit, I am still thinking about sitting on the deck with a glass of wine, listening to the loons. The house was at the tip of a peninsula that extends into Long Lake. There is a 5+ minute drive down a single lane, 15mph gravel road to get to the house, but once you are there, you appreciate the solitude. Loons on the lake, daily bald eagle sightings, catching trout (small) from the dock, kayaking and canoeing, beautiful scenery....... The house has 3 bedrooms, and may be a little cramped inside for a large family (5+ adults), but was more than spacious for the 3 of us, plus dog! Also, there is a very large deck to spread out. Diana, our host was staying next door, so she was always available for advice or just to chat. The location is very central, with a short drive to Somesville and Southwest harbor. It is a little further to Bar Harbor (20min), but worth being away from the crowds. The kitchen is small, but well stocked. We decided to keep it simple and use the grill. A word of warning if you are going to MDI off season - everything shuts down early, so don't expect to get a pizza at 8:30pm, unless you want to drive into Bar Harbor. Internet service in the house is spotty, but we encountered that all over MDI. The lake was quiet during our stay, with just a few motor boats out fishing. Not sure about peak season, but I can't imagine it would be that different. There is a washer/dryer. Also, the house seems very handicapped accessible. Diana's dog Tucker played with our dog Tucker (T1 and T2), which, along with a swim in the lake, helped to wear him out! The water was not that cold, and I was able to get in for a while in early June. It was a very enjoyable week."

  • Fantastic home for family!

"We had such a great time in this home! Plenty of room, fully stocked kitchen, and such a comfortable and welcoming and beautiful place! We had 7 adults and a baby and had plenty of room! And the location was perfect! So glad we did not stay in Bar Harbor where everything is so touristy. We kayaked on a nearby pond, hiked on nearby trails, loved the little village town where we picked up fresh lobster to cook every night. And Suzanne was just an email away, although we didn't need a thing. Thank you - we will be back!!"
