  • A slice of paradise on beautiful Goose Cove!

"We selected BassTerre for our spring vacation and couldn't be happier with our decision. We've rented vacation homes on the Oregon coast, the Blue Ridge mountains and the Florida panhandle and BassTerre was by far the nicest and most comfortable home yet exceeding our expectations. The cottage was immaculate and attractively furnished with so many thoughtful details not normally found in a vacation "rental". We felt at home immediately and everything you need to relax is provided from the large selection of books and travel guides to the wonderful Adirondack chairs outside at the oceans edge. The kitchen has everything you'll need to cook full meals or steam lobsters/clams right down to the spices. We hiked several great trails including Penobscot Mountain to Sargent Pond, the Beehive, Champlain Mountain and South Bubble. Jordan Pond house's popovers are not to be missed and were the perfect end to one of our hikes. We walked the carriage trails, went tidepooling at Ship's Harbor Nature Trail and shopped in Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. A favorite outing took us to Northeast Harbor which we visited after seeing the Asticou Azalea Gardens. And I can't emphasize enough how gorgeous the views are here. Stunning sunsets were enjoyed right from our deck and huge front yard, while the backdrop of Acadia's landscape framed the scene. Just breathtaking! The starry skies at night took our breath away and walks along the shore during low tide offered us lots to explore in the tidal pools. Kayaking right from beach was incredible! We saw a harbor seal as we paddled and even met a cove lobsterman hauling in his traps. The awe-inspiring natural beauty of Blue Hill Bay and Acadia National Park was at our fingertips both weeks, and it was truly tough to leave. Just a peaceful slice of heaven...that's the best way I can describe our experience here and would highly recommend!"

  • Perfect Location!

"Having never been to Bar Harbor before, we were a bit uncertain as to whether we should stay downtown or in the woods somewhere, since we expected this to be a very outdoorsy trip. As a young couple (late twenties), we couldn't have ended up happier with the location of this apartment. It is a minutes walk from all of the great restaurants, shops, bars and other attractions in Bar Harbor while still being a bit tucked away on what was definitely a more quiet street in the town. It has parking so it was great to be able to walk downtown to go out to dinner without worrying about where to park your car and dealing with that stress. We could get anywhere from here in minutes! It is also right off the shore path, which was great for talking runs and walks -- such a beautiful place to get an evening run in -- breath taking views. We also enjoyed how close it was to the farmer's market. We could drive to and be at almost any location in the park in just a few minutes too (after picking up coffee and a pastry at the bakery next door). The apartment itself is as described. It was basic, but had everything we needed and was very clean. The owners are very sweet and responded to a question we had but gave us our privacy. I thought it was sweet they even sent us a Christmas card! We made many fun memories on this trip and we really look forward to coming back sooner than later! We would definitely recommend this apartment and Bar Harbor."

  • Ideal getaway!!!

"My husband and I have been going to Mt. Desert Island for over 45 years to enjoy the spectacular ocean walks and views, mountains, and lakes that the island offers. As much as we loved our twice (or thrice) annual trips to Acadia, the noisy motels/hotels and long restaurant lines were becoming tiresome and diminished our level of enjoyment. We'd often rented cottages elsewhere but had never found a cottage in the Bar Harbor area that we liked until we stumbled upon Paul's Cottage. What we ideally had wanted was a cottage on the ocean with a fireplace that offered both privacy and easy access to Acadia Park. After spending a fall and spring week in Paul's Cottage this past year, we have found it a perfect fit for us, offering many amenities including the following. - situated right on the shore with stunning westerly island and sunset views - welcoming, friendly, and accommodating owners (available but not intrusive) - a large updated kitchen not wanting for anything - fresh lobster and other seafood, produce, groceries, etc. available within a short drive - very good restaurants (especially in season) if desired - Acadia Park sites within easy driving distance - various books and games to enjoy by the huge fireplace (endless supply of firewood available) or on the spacious deck overlooking the water - the Southwest Harbor Library issues guest passes for non-residents for supplemental reading choices We are very much looking forward to our two-week stay this fall and are considering a winter visit at some point."

  • Great value and nice place

"We enjoyed staying at the cottage for five nights, and found it to be a good location to explore Southwest Harbor and the rest of Mount Dessert Island as well. The cottage is clean and cozy with all you need to eat in if you so choose. There were only two of us, but the loft has two twin beds so two more people could have come. We hiked , ate lobster, and had a wonderful time . I would recommend the Corson cottage!"
