  • Charming and cozy

"This is a bright and cheery, cozy and charming cottage on a quiet road. It is surrounded by fields, the view of a beautiful neighboring farmhouse, and the ocean only a short walk away. The owners were readily available for questions and suggestions of things to do and places to go. It felt very private with a stunning starry sky at night. I highly recommend this as a vacation spot for small families, honeymooners, or good friends. ~Ellie"

  • Peaceful and private

"Driftwood Cottage was a great place for a getaway for a couple with a dog. The cottage is simple and beautifully done, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There is one other cottage on the long driveway but nobody was there during our stay, plus it is a very separate from Driftwood and there are trees and a small field between. The location is ideal for those seeking a quiet setting close to trails and small coastal towns and kayaking. We went to Acadia's Schoodic Peninsula for a wonderful day trip. Nearby Holbrook Sanctuary was a huge highlight of the trip because we had an unbelievable, up-close sighting of a mature bald eagle sitting on a low branch. Beautiful sunsets are a huge asset to this west-facing cottage looking out over the cove. We enjoyed our time at Driftwood very much!!"

  • Our October Stay in Maine

"Things we enjoyed: The coziness of the cottage is to be experienced firsthand. Early morning coffee and tea, enjoying the spectacular view off the deck; watching the early morning fog as it lifts and the magnificent sunrise across the bay. The stillness, peacefulness and fall colors can’t be described with words. Sitting on the deck with a good glass of wine and listening to the sound of the water with an occasional fire in a great fire pit on the beach is a must. Visiting the harbor in Blue Hill to buy fresh lobsters off the boat from a very nice fisherman was a highlight for our trip to Maine. Eating them was even better. Places we visited were Acadia, Winter Harbor, Bass Harbor, Bar Harbor, Seal Harbor, Blue Hill, Ellsworth and Schoodic Peninsula. Some of the high lights were the Harbor Porpoises along Schoodic Peninsula, the views from Cadillac Mountain Summit, The Blue Hill Wine Shop for friendly service; accepting of our dog and a great sandwich and cappuccino. Also very knowledgeable about wine. If you like to cook, visit Roaster Brother cooks store in Ellsworth. We had a wonderful time on a sunset sail with Downeast Windjammer Cruise Lines in Bar Harbor. You can bring your own bottle of wine to enjoy while enjoying the views during sunset. Some of the best food we enjoyed we found at J M Gerrish Café, Winter Harbor, friendly, accepting of our dog and the best blueberry pie ever. Seafood Ketch, Bass Harbor, the best lobster roll and a great location with the dog. Flexit Café in Ellsworth was a nice change of pace. The Fish House Grill on the pier in Bar Harbor was very good food, good service and the best Clam Chowder. Black Dinah Chocolates purchased in Blue Hill at the Fair Winds Fresh Flower shop were exceptional. For a quick bite to eat in a very busy area such as Bar Harbor, Downeast Deli and Box Lunch Co., was a good find. On our way to Winter Harbor, we stopped in Hancock at a place called Sullivan Harbor Farms and found the best maple glazed smoked salmon ever. If you like to knit, Shirley’s Yarns, Crafts and gifts in Hancock had a large variety of yarns, some local hand died yarns. There was also The Yarn Shop on the road to Blue Hill with only the basic’s and in the flower shop in Blue Hill (previously mentioned) had limited supply of yarn but all from Maine and hand died. All of this, Thanks to Dee and the opportunity she gave us by opening up her peace of paradise for us to experience. Thanks again, Dee. Mark and Chris Tribby"

  • Great place for a quiet, out of the way stay.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this property. The owners were great and got back to me quickly when making the reservation. Howard met me upon my arrival and showed me around. I enjoy cooking and the kitchen was set up great. I live in Boston and very much enjoyed the peace and tranquility of Woods Pond. Next time I plan on renting a kayak and exploring. I will most definitely be coming back."
