  • Comfortable, Clean, Convenient and Charming Cottage

"My husband and I stayed in this lovely cottage for one week and were extremely happy with everything it provided. Everything we needed was there, all we had to provide was food! It is obvious that the owners have put a lot of time and thought into making sure the cottage is a 'home away from home' for whomever stays there. The cottage was extremely clean and we loved the charm of it too with the sloping floors and walls and especially enjoyed the beautiful flowers in the front, it truly is a cottage garden. We loved the convenience of it, being able to walk into town and enjoy the many restaurants and shops that Bar Harbor has to offer and it is only a few minutes drive from the Park with its beauty and trails, carriage roads, and so much more. The owners provided a binder with wonderful information including instructions on appliances etc. in the cottage, recommendations for Restaurants, Hikes, places of interest etc. We enjoyed an amazing dinner at McKays and also a scrumptious breakfast at Side Street Cafe, both of which were recommended. It was nice being able to eat at the cottage and one night we cooked mussels which we collected at Pretty Marsh beach and enjoyed them with a bottle of wine that was left for us as a gift by the owners. This is our fourth visit to Mount Desert Island and we love it more each time we return. There is so much to see and do whether it be in town, the Park or the quiet side of the Island which we love exploring. Of all the places we have stayed over the years, this cottage is truly our favorite and we would definitely stay there again."

  • Perfection plus

"We just returned from L 'Acadie with such beautiful memories. Our purpose was to celebrate my husband's 65th birthday so I wanted something that was out of the ordinary. We certainly found it at L'Acadie. We traveled with another couple and I was given the privilege of making all the arrangements. I knew from the reviews and the pictures that we wouldn't be disappointed but to see 65 plus year olds get excited about our location and accommodations was a treat in itself. The first evening we had the lunar eclipse and was able to experience that on the upper deck...what a site and start to a perfect week. We did have a lot of rain one day but even that was a good thing as it made us slow down just a bit and enjoy the quietness of the area. There was a great grocery store in South West Harbor, only a few minutes from L 'Acadie for the few things we needed. We had such a great time at a local restaurant too....if you get the chance, stop at Sipps in Southwest Harbor. Another highlight,on a rainy day was Oceanarium, north of Bar Harbor. Be sure to have popovers at Jordon Pond and Lobster stew...and don't forget Lobster at Thurston's about 5 minutes from L'Acadie...We all cannot wait to go back someday."

  • The Perfect Vacation

"Wow!! If you are trying to decide on a place to stay in Maine, look no further. The house was impeccable and the view - STUNNING. Everything was perfect. The details and thoughtfulness were unbelievable. I felt like I was visiting an old friend who put every thought into our visit. We have two teens and a nine year old. It was perfect for our family. It was so private and every time were in the back on the hammock, in the adirondack chairs or on the rocks by the ocean, we were in absolute awe that that was our backyard for the week. The breeze and the scents of pine and sea are fantastic. I completed reading books that I started a year ago, and even got to read one from the owner's extensive library. We were able to RELAX and let the real world disappear for a while. The town and people were amazing. You have to go eat at J.M. Gerrish for breakfast and visit the 5 and 10 store across the street. Take the ferry over to Bar Harbor for the ride alone. The town is also so fun to just walk around, or sit on their grassy hill and watch the boats go in and out of the harbor. Acadia Park and Schoodic are gorgeous. Waking up for the sunrise is worth it, and watching the sun set every night was part of our day. The Farmer's Market every Tuesday is fun and the antique shops are fun to stroll through as well. You also have to go see the cottages in Winter Harbor. We really hated to leave. This was a perfect family vacation!"

  • Best place in Bar Harbor

"This has been a regular place for our family to stay. The house is comfortable, nicely decorated and extremely clean . A added benefit is that it is in walking distance to the grocery and the best restaurants in town. The owner is very close by and has taken care of anything we might need. The kitchen is roomy with great appliances. There is a large office where I am able to take care of my work needs. The patio with outdoor seating and a grill makes a great place for our family to gather. The front porch is a delightful place to have coffee in the morning. In the 20 years our family has been coming to Bar Harbor, we have stayed at many places and by far this is our favorite."
