"We loved this house, and would recommend it for so many reasons. My favorite spot was the deck off the kitchen. Wine in hand, we snacked and chatted there every night, watching the sun go down. It's the epitome of relaxation. We cooked for ourselves most nights, as our days were so full of hiking and sightseeing. The kitchen has everything you'd want.
Five of us shared the house, but it's huge and never felt crowded. Lots of space downstairs for everyone to watch the game or whatever is on TV. We stayed for five nights - which was perfect. There are many things to do and see.
The island is small, so it's a short drive to get anywhere, but we loved that the house felt remote. It's on the "quiet side" of the island. From the house, you can walk down to a little path that's part of the nature preserve, reaching the shore within 30 minutes at most. The shady trails looked like fairies could pop out at any moment. There are many other trails close by, and the beautiful Echo Lake is just minutes away.
We enjoyed a lobster dinner at Beal's Lobster Pier in Southwest Harbor, but my favorite meal was lobster rolls at Thurston's Lobster Pound down in Bernard at the tip of the western part of the island.
Don't hesitate. This is a terrific place to stay."

"My husband and 21-year-son and I rented this adorable cottage for the last week in August and had a wonderful time! All the Bar Harbor restaurants and shops are within walking distance, but it was easy to hop in the car and go to Acadia without driving through downtown. The home was spotless, charming, and comfy. Just as important, the owners are friendly and responsive. Can't wait to go back!"

"Rocco's Cottage was much nicer than it was shown on line! It was clean, convenient, well-appointed and a pleasure to live in for a relaxing week. All things Bar Harbor were within a short walk from the cottage and its "set back" location provided maximum privacy. I brought my two dogs and felt like they were the only two pets ever inside the house because it was so clean! Lisa and Rick are REAL folks with a common-sense, friendly New England approach to everyone and everything. They are a gentle presence if needed and invisible if not. I felt completely at home -TRULY at home in their cottage because they provided everything you could ever need or want while away from home. I will return to Rocko's cottage because this was one of my best vacations, EVER!"

"We had an excellent stay in this gorgeous suite located perfectly for our sightseeing adventures throughout Mt. Desert Island, Bar Harbor, Ellsworth and the surrounding areas. We were close enough for most of our activities to be a 5-10 minute drive into Bar Harbor or Acadia National Park, but were pleasantly secluded when we wanted to stop and rest. Joe and Monique were incredibly kind, friendly and accommodating throughout our week-long trip. The suite had everything we could possibly want and need and we enjoyed several nights by the fire in the beautifully crafted courtyard. I would highly recommend this property for vacationing in the Bar Harbor area, especially for couples looking for a romantic getaway, and we hope to return sometime soon!"
