  • PERFECT!

"We stayed here for a week with my parents, my husband and I, and our three children (9, 6, & 3) and LOVED IT! The house was comfortable, clean and cozy. It was very kid friendly, as was the entire island; the house is right across the street from the school and it's great playground. The house had everything you could possibly need, more so than any other house I've ever rented. The communication with Jo and then Melissa while on the island was great and frequent. We'd highly recommend staying here!"

  • Cozy, quaint cottage in an amazing location

"We were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Maria's cottage. The property is exactly as advertised with a ton of great amenities and located very close to SW Harbor. Kitchen is fully stocked with every cooking apparatus you could need. Washer/dryer is a great bonus, especially with kids. To top it all off, the owners purchased a treat for me since we arrived on my birthday. Very thoughtful and definitely above and beyond what we expected. I would absolutely recommend staying at this property if you have young kids, a dog and like living close to the 'action' of SW Harbor."

  • Amazing stay and amazing hosts.

"The Cottage in the Barn is an amazing and comfortable stay. Carol and John were fantastic hosts and could not have been better. They offered help and tips for the local area (even offered a turkey pan, as we stayed on Thanksgiving weekend). The Cottage in the Barn is a few miles off of the Main Road, providing for a quiet and relaxing stay. Carol and John are unbelievably nice people that provided us with a place to stay in this beautiful area of Maine, right next to the Schoodic Point part of Acadia, in a renovated barn that had a homey feeling to it. Will definitely look forward to possibly coming back in the near future!"

  • Wonderful Family Vacation in Acadia

"We had a wonderful week at BassTerre. We knew that Acadia would be spectacular, but was so thrilled to see that BassTerre was equally terrific. The property is just as described, but the view and private setting is even more impressive than shown. We really appreciated the owners many recommendations, and the cottage had absolutely everything we needed to make us feel at home. Our kids explored the shoreline each day, going on countless “buoy hunts” and we loved the huge front lawn for family games of badminton and soccer.(as well as building evening campfires on the beach!) Great location to get to the park and most of our days were spent hiking and exploring Acadia. If you are trying to avoid the bustle of Bar Harbor but want to be close enough to get there for dinner or day trips (about 30 minutes), you can't do better. Southwest Harbor is less than 10 minutes away with many lovely shops and restaurants and Bass Harbor is only 5 minutes away (Island Cruises, out of Bass Harbor, is a must!) The views from the cottage and deck were absolutely breathtaking, lobster boats were fun to watch and hear, an eagle flying overhead, deer in the early morning, and being able to step out to our private beach was priceless. Lobster was available just about everywhere, but we really enjoyed ordering it fresh from the Goose Cove lobstermen and enjoying it on our deck while watching the sunset. So beautiful, so Maine, so thankful for it all. Will definitely return to BassTerre for more family memories!"
