  • Good for Those Seeking Peace and Quiet

"During our four day stay, we didn't hear a sound from neighbors. We were surprised twice by deer, so be mindful when driving that you're sharing your space with nature. Our family of four adults had more than enough space to spread out and claim a spot of our own. If we had not been out and about each day, my husband would have been perfectly content to lounge for hours in the backyard hammock. We prepared dinner once there, but drove the other three evenings into Bar Harbor. This is a good 20 minutes from the house. You really need to allow 30 minutes if you have a reservation, since finding a parking place in Bar Harbor is challenging at best. The house is completely stocked with everything you might need and then some. Thank you Lorie for having bandages for blisters, an umbrella, and insulated lunch bags for guests to borrow. All came in handy. We found the house to be very clean and comfortably furnished. Since we arrived after three on our first day, we only had time for a short excursion. We drove by Somes Sound along Sargeant Drive off of Route 198. Lovely and peaceful towards dusk."

  • Awesome!!!!

"Many thanks to the owners for letting us bring our furry kids, which truly increased the quality of our vacation. This was our first trip to Maine and we stayed both in Bar Harbor and Booth Bay. The description of the property and pictures provided actually did not give a completely accurate description, because it is MUCH BETTER!!! Literally downtown Bar Harbor is a step away, yet the adjacent property and foliage leave you feeling miles away from it all! My husband enjoyed many naps on the front porch in the mid-afternoon in this little town filled with Cruise activity. The living space is actually much larger than the photos might indicate. It was very clean and well maintained. Traveling with a special needs animal, who will find the dust, there was no dust to be found. The house was extremely clean and very welcoming :-) When I had a question and e-mailed the owners, I had a quick response! My husband and I often rent cottages while traveling and I have never felt so compelled to write a review, that is how much we loved it!! Clear instructions were sent to us on access, the owners were quick to respond, we loved the property, the location is amazing. Tips for those looking to enjoy Acadia as much as we did: Skip the Great Meadow Loop Trail. It is really just a walk around a golf course. Don't miss the hike around Jordan Pond or a trip to Cadillac Mountain. Jordan Pond is listed as a Moderate hike, but there is only a short bit of walking/climbing around rock formations. We passed many healthy 60-70 year olds enjoying it. If you can't hike to Cadillac Mountain, drive up and walk around the rock formations there, and walk a bit of a trail! If you are a moderate hiker, don't miss Great Head. Walk out onto Sand Beach and head left. Little more climbing on this one, but well worth the views!! For fast access, head south through Otter Creek and enter the park there. Park Loop Road is one way through much of the Park, and this makes for much quicker access to Jordan Pond, Cadillac Mountain, and the Stables. We plan on enjoying more of our National Parks in the future, but if you look to Bar Harbor, this is an awesome place to stay and we hope to be back!!"

  • It doesn't get better this

"Time spent at Spring River Lake in Maine is unparalleled in our view. We (family of 4) spent two absolutely glorious weeks relaxing in the most natural way possible. Fabulous beach w/ boat house (kayaks, canoes & more), temperate water for swimming all day, cool evenings perfectly suited for cozy fires, playing games, working on puzzles, baking bread and reading. If you appreciate the power of a simple setting (no screens or cell service) to inspire fun, deepen relationships, and refresh the soul, look no further."

  • A wonderful gem!

"A lovely home in the heart of Bar Harbor. Very well appointed and comfortable. We were a party of seven across three generations and everyone had plenty of space. The location was perfect - a short walk to shops and restaurants plus a large grocery store right around the corner. Acadia is just a few minutes drive but there are easy hikes within walking distance. We traveled over thanksgiving and the weather was mild for the season but definitely chilly so we appreciated the central heating and cozy beds. Much of the area is closed for the season so we didn't get to enjoy some of the typical summer touristy things (whale watching and fishing) but there was still plenty to do. The owners were very helpful and responsive with our questions and had great recommendations for things to do. Overall a lovely part of the country. We'll be back!"
