  • Perfect Get Away From It All

"I was looking for a quiet place to spend a week with my girls (12 and 15) that would be peaceful, fun, and close enough to Bar Harbor to visit but far enough to feel like we were getting away from it all. I really could not have found a more perfect place; John and Liz made us feel so welcomed it was like being in our own home, not a rental, right from the start. The house itself is really beautifully situated; the beach is right down a path out the back steps, the sun sparkles through the windows in the mornings, the stars sparkle at night and the waves, when it's windy, will put you to sleep. It's on a hushed country road with few cars; the quiet in the air is stunning, especially at night. We also fell in love with the dogs - especially Maddie, who we miss - it was like a fringe benefit! Everything we needed was there; bikes to ride and wood for the outdoor fire pit and even fresh eggs from the chickens. We stopped at Tradewinds in Blue Hill on the way for food - which I recommend - but the cottage has what you would need otherwise - towels and sheets and blankets and a kitchen stocked with the basics, pots and pans and utensils, washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc. Pretty much whatever you need is there, making it a lot easier to unpack and unwind. Liz and John are great hosts, the house is sweet and cozy, and it was as perfect a week as I could have imagined. If you are trying to avoid the bustle of Bar Harbor but want to be close enough to get there for dinner or day trips (about 45 minutes), you can't do better. Liz also recommended a boat trip in Bass Harbor (Island Cruises) which was an absolute must, a great way to spend an afternoon. Thanks Liz and John for helping us make lifelong memories, we hope to come back!"

  • Scenic wonderland

"We have visited, Maine for the past five years during the holidays to see our grand kids and this I by far the best place we have stayed at. Extremely close to downtown Bangor, Mall, Theater and restaurants. Although winter time is not for everybody, we thoroughly enjoy it. There are plenty of activities for all ages."

  • Great Views, Secluded and Quiet Location, Well-Appointed Home

"House is very spacious and the living area is great for family get-togethers. Basement area is a good teen zone. Kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed hanging out at the house, using the dock & kayaks, and walks & runs from the house. It is minutes from Echo Lake Beach, hiking at Mt. Acadia, and groceries at IGA. The scenic loop road and Bar Harbor are only about a 15 minute drive. We would definitely come again."

  • The BEST place to stay on the island

"When I say that this was a dream cabin, I mean it. I road trip alone, so was looking for something practical and comfortable, yet secluded and scenic. This cabin went above and beyond. The beds were comfortable, and everything in the kitchen worked perfectly. Having a washer and dryer was awesome...I used it a few times when I got dirty on hikes. It's about 100 steps from the water, and having a private beach is absolutely incredible. I ended each night by having a beer on the dock. It was perfect. Also, you're on the "quiet side" of the island, which is really nice, as Bar Harbor can get NUTS during the weekends and summer months. Ben was incredibly helpful and got back to me quickly. The price can't be beat. I would HIGHLY recommend getting this cabin. When I come back to Maine, I can't imagine staying anywhere else."
