  • Great Location and great house

"The house was located in a nice rustic location near Seal Harbor. Great views of the ocean and a nice safe place for children. Close to Acadia National Park and reasonably close to Bar Harbor. Plenty of space for a large group and nice fireplace. Just for full disclosure cell phone service is pretty spotty (I have Verizon so i don't know for other companies). Very nice and large kitchen with all the equipment you need to cook meals large and small, nice grill for outdoors cooking. Overall a great experience that I would recommend to anyone."

  • Clean, updated, comfortable place to stay

"This was our first trip to Maine, and this region around Acadia National Park is beautiful. This house is just walking distance from Winter Harbor, which has an IGA grocery store, several restaurants, and places to buy fresh lobster (the house is well equipped to cook and eat lobster, but we never got around to doing it). Schoodic peninsula, part of Acadia, is just a short 10-minute drive down the road, which made it very convenient for taking early morning pictures of the rocky coastline before sunrise. There is a TV set in a cabinet in the living room with a DVD player, and the Internet is more than sufficient for Netflix, so there are plenty of ways to entertain yourself at the end of a day of hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, etc. The kitchen is well equipped with all of the appliances and dishes you need to make meals when you are not enjoying the great restaurants in Bar Harbor, which is about an hour drive away. The majority of the park lies on Mount Desert Island, and many of the places we visited were about 50-60 min away, but we spent the whole day there anyways, so the drive was not much of an inconvenience. The only suggestion we have for the house would be for window treatments for all of the downstairs Windows and doors, just for the small sense of security it would add when it is dark outside. Overall, this is a great place to stay in this area!"

  • A great place to relax!

"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Chickadee Suite and all the "little" touches Donna and Kevin provide to make it "home". The fully equipped kitchen could have been used for every meal, complete with a full size oven and refrigerator! There was a small gas BBQ on the back deck as well. Everything was super clean and comfortable. And there is a TV in the main sitting room/kitchen, as well as one in the bedroom (not that we were in the suite that much!). The only "be advised" is that it is located directly on Rte. 3, and early morning road noise can be your wake up call. Other than that, everything is just lovely! Conveniently located to Acadia, Bar Harbor and all of MDI."

  • Perfect Location!

"Having never been to Bar Harbor before, we were a bit uncertain as to whether we should stay downtown or in the woods somewhere, since we expected this to be a very outdoorsy trip. As a young couple (late twenties), we couldn't have ended up happier with the location of this apartment. It is a minutes walk from all of the great restaurants, shops, bars and other attractions in Bar Harbor while still being a bit tucked away on what was definitely a more quiet street in the town. It has parking so it was great to be able to walk downtown to go out to dinner without worrying about where to park your car and dealing with that stress. We could get anywhere from here in minutes! It is also right off the shore path, which was great for talking runs and walks -- such a beautiful place to get an evening run in -- breath taking views. We also enjoyed how close it was to the farmer's market. We could drive to and be at almost any location in the park in just a few minutes too (after picking up coffee and a pastry at the bakery next door). The apartment itself is as described. It was basic, but had everything we needed and was very clean. The owners are very sweet and responded to a question we had but gave us our privacy. I thought it was sweet they even sent us a Christmas card! We made many fun memories on this trip and we really look forward to coming back sooner than later! We would definitely recommend this apartment and Bar Harbor."
