  • Fabulous House!

"We loved this house, and would recommend it for so many reasons. My favorite spot was the deck off the kitchen. Wine in hand, we snacked and chatted there every night, watching the sun go down. It's the epitome of relaxation. We cooked for ourselves most nights, as our days were so full of hiking and sightseeing. The kitchen has everything you'd want. Five of us shared the house, but it's huge and never felt crowded. Lots of space downstairs for everyone to watch the game or whatever is on TV. We stayed for five nights - which was perfect. There are many things to do and see. The island is small, so it's a short drive to get anywhere, but we loved that the house felt remote. It's on the "quiet side" of the island. From the house, you can walk down to a little path that's part of the nature preserve, reaching the shore within 30 minutes at most. The shady trails looked like fairies could pop out at any moment. There are many other trails close by, and the beautiful Echo Lake is just minutes away. We enjoyed a lobster dinner at Beal's Lobster Pier in Southwest Harbor, but my favorite meal was lobster rolls at Thurston's Lobster Pound down in Bernard at the tip of the western part of the island. Don't hesitate. This is a terrific place to stay."

  • Fall Fabulous! Like new! Convenient! Sparkling clean! Wonderful owner!

"My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in DeeDee's townhouse for 4 nights. The weather and foliage were fantastic during our stay!! But what will, perhaps, be the most memorable is DeeDee and her amazing hospitality. Her townhouse is perfectly described in the listing.....living room opening to the kitchen ... including a large flat screen HD tv with Netflix! Downstairs full bathroom with shower and washer/dryer. Upstairs 2 matching bedrooms with comfortable beds and a full bathroom with another stall shower. DeeDee says the townhouse was built 13 years ago but it looks brand new. Everything is beyond well maintained, spotless, comfortable, and efficient! The house is on a quiet street but very close to groceries, churches, downtown, restaurants, shopping, the harbor, and Acadia. These are some of the things I appreciated that not all rentals have: Tissues, clocks in bedrooms, nightlights in hall and bathroom, Wifi that really works, great blinds on all windows, binoculars, pen & paper, brighter light bulbs in lamps, bottled water upon arrival, large screen HD TV with Netflix too, larger mirrors in bedroom and bath, lots of soft fluffy matching towels, laundry soap, multiple menus for all kinds of restaurants, and lots of books to look through on Bar Harbor and Acadia. In addition, the furniture is comfortable....a huge recliner as well as a wonderful rocking chair to go along with 2 couches. There is nothing we could think of the DeeDee hasn't already provided. As others have said, she was always helpful with suggestions, photos ahead of time, and fast response to questions, but never intrusive. In 3 full days, we were able to do: The Oceanarium, the winery, the Acadian Nature cruise, the shore walk, shopping, a horse drawn carriage ride in Acadia, and St Savior's church. We ate at & loved The Log Cabin, the Chart Room, Rosalie's Pizza, West Street Cafe, Epi's Pizza, and the Coffee Cup Diner. Of course we also had yummy chocolates, fudge and ice cream!! Our trip to Bar Harbor was wonderful!!! It began and ended with DeeDee and her warm, welcoming hugs, her immaculate home, her excellent advice/suggestions, and attention to our comfort and happiness! I highly highly recommend renting with her and looking no further!!! We would absolutely rent with DeeDee again and will tell our friends too!"

  • Perfect Place for an Acadia National Park Getaway

"Could not have asked for a better place to stay near Acadia to celebrate a 40th birthday. The house was clean, comfortable, and well equipped (even came stocked with park maps and firewood!) and perfectly located, with easy access to Acadia National Park. The weather was on the cooler side during the visit, but the space heaters did the trick and the weather certainly made time around the fireplace that much more enjoyable. We didn't get to spend much time out on the porches due to the weather, but imagine they would be lovely in the warmer weather. The communal areas were spacious, yet felt cozy - perfect for hanging out and relaxing. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and the view from the master bedroom was breathtaking. Would definitely recommend staying at the Hummingbird!"

  • Beautiful and comfortable home

"I would recommend this house. We had a great stay. The house is very clean and the area is very quiet which was very nice for 4 busy professionals. Every bedroom has its bathroom. The view is beautiful and the location is perfect to visit Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. One surprise at the end: cleaning fees are deducted from the security deposit which we have never seen before ( the house was left impeccable). In spite of this, I would highly recommend renting this house as it has everything needed for a relaxing and easy vacation."
