  • Ahhhh Hickory Ridge!

"My family came to MDI for a Memorial for my dear Uncle. After looking at many, many homes on VRBO, Hickory Ridge seemed the best fit and reasonable price point. We were more than satisfied, we were elated! My son (25) loved the basement room and the privacy it provided him. My 85 year old mom loved her main floor room, and my sister, my cousin, and I all had our own lovely rooms as well. The common living areas were spacious and the house had everything we needed. It made our stay so enjoyable. I loved spending quiet time out on the deck with the lovely view. The house is about a 30 min drive to Bar Harbor town, and Cadillac Mountain (gorgeous). The little town of SW Harbor has some wonderful restaurants. Go to Sips and Beals! Our house owner, Andy was a joy to work with and made sure everything was perfect for our visit. The house was spotless when we arrived. If you are looking for a luxury home, this isn't it. But if you are looking for a charming, accommodating, peaceful experience in Southwest Harbor, this is the place. Thank you so much Andy! (The only reason I did not recommend for "Families with young children, Age 55+, and People with disabilities", is because of the stairs to the two upper rooms. However, there are two bedrooms on the main floor and a ramp for wheelchair to enter the house, so these demographic groups could be accommodated.) Also, I rarely, if ever write reviews."

  • Still awesome!

"My husband and I recently returned from our third annual (note the word annual) stay at Harbor Cottage. We intended to go elsewhere this year, but Harbor Cottage just called to us. As we walked in the front door the brightness, the airiness, the openness immediately reminded us of why we love this place. The harbor was still in view from all the windows, the lobster "mart" was still within an easy walk down the hill with the freshest lobsters ever, Seafood Ketch was still serving great food at harbor's edge in the sun, the ferry still sounded its fog horn on a foggy morning, and the cottage still welcomed. It's comforting to know that some things can be counted on to stay the same. This cottage is the perfect location for enjoying all that MDI has to offer. And it's the perfect location to return to after a day of exploring. Thanks, Roger!"

  • Lovely home in cental NorthEast Harbor

"This was my first time ever renting a home instead of staying in hotels while we traveled. To say I was nervous is an understatement. I was looking for a true relaxing experience while we visited Acadia, and I this house provided us that. First and foremost, Tim was very accommodating and understanding of the many questions I had regarding the rental process. In my first email to Tim, I told him that I had never rented a home before and within five minutes I got a phone call. He did everything he could to calm my nervousness, which I appreciated tremendously. I knew from that point I was dealing with a legit homeowner. Even at the last moment, he allowed me to add my small dog to our trip when I initially thought I would be leaving him with family. The property was a perfect size for our party. We traveled with four adults, three teenagers, a three-year-old, and my dog. The two couples each had the same size master bedrooms, so no flipping of a coin was needed, and the teenagers shared a room with ample space and their own beds. We really appreciated the multiple bathrooms when it came time to get ready. The house itself was stocked with more than what we needed to get by. It had everything! I kept saying to myself how much money I saved by not having to buy all those items that made our stay so comfortable. I have officially been converted to a home renter in my travels! The area of the rental was central to all the great things the island had to offer. In my initial search, I thought we had to stay in Bar Harbor to be around all the action. I am SO GLAD we did not! We visited Bar Harbor for one day but it was such a busy place that we never went back. It was just full of shops. Besides, all the fun stuff was around us. We visited all the great spots: Jordans Pond, Cadillac Mountain, The Carriage Trail, etc, but also got to go on a deep sea fishing adventure where the captain pulled up lobster pots and gave everyone on board a lobster. We did our fair share of relaxing too. It was very convenient that just a short walk from the house was a quaint little Main Street with stores full of everything we could need. Also, there was a Walmart and a Shaws a short drive away. We ate out sometimes but also made good use of the BBQ grill on the property. Our last day we decided to explore the SouthWest Harbor. I am so glad we did because we got a chance to take a kayaking trip on Long Pond at sunset. I told Tim we will DEF be back again! THANKS TIM AND FAMILY!"

  • Great home with Beautiful View

"We spent 3 nights here and had a lovely stay. The home was immaculately clean and very cozy. We traveled with an infant and a three year old, and the owner brought a bucket of toys for our boys to play with while there. There is a beautiful view of the nearby lake. We liked the location on the quiet side of the island, but still close enough to several harbors/towns to easily get back and forth for dinner. We spent time hiking/sightseeing at Acadia, and it was simply stunning this time of year. Overall, 5 star stay, and I cant recommend this place enough!"
