  • All the comforts of home: simple, charming and welcoming.

"My wife and I spent a wonderful week at Acadia Meadow for our honeymoon. Neither of us had visited Acadia prior but had high hopes of both the region and our homebase. Our expectations were exceeded in both accounts! My biggest priority for our trip was that we stay someplace that wasn't the usual tourist rattrap, someplace that felt like a home - if not our home then at least like the borrowed home of a relative or close friend. Someplace comfortable, furnished with personal touches, with a well-equipped kitchen and a few extras that said you were in the hands of someone who wanted you to feel at home and wished for you to enjoy the area as they did themselves. For us, Todd and Suze were those people and Acadia Meadow was that home. The house is clean and open. Most of it is the open kitchen, dining area and living room. There are picture windows that look out to a meadow beyond the lawn with trees beyond that. There's no other building to be seen. It's a wonderful view to cook by or take in from the attached private deck with coffee or cocktail in hand. It is an attached wing of the hosts' house but with its own entrance and driveway It always felt to be a private residence with a plus ... Todd and Suze themselves. Our hosts were wonderfully available when we needed them and left us completely to ourselves when we didn't have questions about farmer's markets, or swimming holes or the best carriage roads to ride on and the best trails to hike. We had the very good fortune of staying the last week of August when Todd's vegetable garden was bursting. We were offered our full of fresh herbs, carrots, cucumbers, beets and tomatoes and took full advantage. Even if you aren't lucky enough to stay when the garden is producing, the kitchen is very nicely equipped to cook to your heart's desire. Very nice quality pots and pans, good sharp knives, cutting boards in excess and storage containers to pack away leftovers for the next day. Whether I was searching an appliance or kitchen tool or picnic cooler or binoculars to check out the wildlife (and guidebooks to identify them) I was regularly surprised at how thoughtfully equipped this place is. The only qualification I'll add is that the house is on Route 3 set back about 50'. We knew it before we stayed. Yes, you can hear the cars but every place on the island has its reminders that the days of rustication are past. We chose to ignore the occasional muffled sounds and enjoy the simple pleasures here"

  • Peacefulness abounds in this beautiful home!

"My three children and I stayed at this property for a week in August. We had such a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and so well equipped. Everything you could possibly need is there. The kitchen is fitted for actual cooking, linens and towels are provided. The house is also spotlessly clean which I appreciate above everything else. My two boys are teenagers and used the downstairs bedrooms with the bathroom down there. My daughter and I used the upstairs rooms. Everyone loved having their own space while still being together. The house is well stocked with DVD's, games, and books. Two of my kids spent hours in the evenings playing chess and I loved seeing them so focused on something non electronic. The outside shower is an absolute dream, there is nothing like showering outside on a beautiful summer morning. The house location is very private and incredibly quiet and peaceful. We found the location of the property to be excellent for exploring many areas of Maine. We went all over the Blue Hill Peninsula and we drove up to Mount Desert Island quite a few times. It is an easy drive away of just about one hour. Acadia National Park is absolutely breathtaking. The owners clearly take a great deal of pride in their property. Sally is extremely pleasant and helpful. She is very responsive and sent us a detailed email with ideas of places to go and restaurants to eat at. I have rented many places and she was by far the most friendly and helpful owner I have ever dealt with. I would not hesitate to return here and often think longingly of our peaceful week in Maine!"

  • Lovely house, lovely location, lovely owners

"Wonderful house, wonderful owners, great location. Our second visit and we hope it will not be the last. Charming owners who could not be more pleasant and helpful. The house is clearly much loved by the owners Mac and Deb and it shows. The house has everything you could want and more. We spent a couple of evenings sitting by the fire pit with old friends and the odd glass of wine - what could be better? I recommend this house wholeheartedly - but with mixed feelings because we hope to return and don't want to find that someone has booked it when we want it!
