  • Great weekend in beautiful Seal Harbor home

"Rolling out a vacation with 10 people is no easy task, but booking this home was as easy as it gets. The owner was responsive, very kind and welcoming. The house was easily accessible, well-appointed, and clean. Location was perfect as a basecamp for exploring Acadia NP and Bar Harbor, with plenty of privacy and space for our large group. Beds were extremely comfy (especially the master bed), and lots of lounge seating in the living room and multiple decks. The house is beautifully crafted, with plenty of character and comfort. Lots of splendid outdoor space as well for exploring, playing games, or just relaxing. An amazing home!"

  • Vacation of a lifetime

"Our family enjoyed this vacation more than we could have possible imagined. We arrived after dark so waking up at Sunnymead and discovering all the special things about the house and grounds was like Christmas morning! The three bedrooms in the main house were perfect for our son and his children, who are super-early risers. The rest of us (4 adults) were more than cozy and comfortable in our lovely rooms; the house provides so much space for an active family. It was the perfect home-base for all of our park activities (hiking, biking, climbing, etc) as well. Jennifer's delightful touches - the gazebo set for dinner, fresh flowers around and a personal note - made us feel like special guests. We read "Fudge-a-mania" by Judy Blume while there and especially enjoyed identifying the settings Blume referenced in the book. We visited Charlotte's Lobster Pound twice - it was so much fun and DELICIOUS! We appreciated being able to prepare and eat our meals at "home" when we were not out at one of the fabulous eateries. (Beals for lobster, Grumpy's for breakfast) We picked up fresh blueberry pies, fresh crabmeat and more. Heaven! We loved walking to the beach and exploring tidal pools. Truly, we could not have chosen a more perfectly "Maine" cottage and will remember this trip forever."

  • A slice of paradise on beautiful Goose Cove!

"We selected BassTerre for our spring vacation and couldn't be happier with our decision. We've rented vacation homes on the Oregon coast, the Blue Ridge mountains and the Florida panhandle and BassTerre was by far the nicest and most comfortable home yet exceeding our expectations. The cottage was immaculate and attractively furnished with so many thoughtful details not normally found in a vacation "rental". We felt at home immediately and everything you need to relax is provided from the large selection of books and travel guides to the wonderful Adirondack chairs outside at the oceans edge. The kitchen has everything you'll need to cook full meals or steam lobsters/clams right down to the spices. We hiked several great trails including Penobscot Mountain to Sargent Pond, the Beehive, Champlain Mountain and South Bubble. Jordan Pond house's popovers are not to be missed and were the perfect end to one of our hikes. We walked the carriage trails, went tidepooling at Ship's Harbor Nature Trail and shopped in Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. A favorite outing took us to Northeast Harbor which we visited after seeing the Asticou Azalea Gardens. And I can't emphasize enough how gorgeous the views are here. Stunning sunsets were enjoyed right from our deck and huge front yard, while the backdrop of Acadia's landscape framed the scene. Just breathtaking! The starry skies at night took our breath away and walks along the shore during low tide offered us lots to explore in the tidal pools. Kayaking right from beach was incredible! We saw a harbor seal as we paddled and even met a cove lobsterman hauling in his traps. The awe-inspiring natural beauty of Blue Hill Bay and Acadia National Park was at our fingertips both weeks, and it was truly tough to leave. Just a peaceful slice of heaven...that's the best way I can describe our experience here and would highly recommend!"
