  • Excellent Value

"The owners seem to really care about their rental, take good care of it, and want people to have a nice place to stay---which it is. We really enjoyed ourselves here. Very clean, plenty of room, and well equipped. Great to sit by the bay window in the morning...Good location.... nice drive up Seawall road to the ocean and a couple of nice short hikes and onto the lighthouse . Close enough to all the activity but quiet. Once owners explained how to work the TV...we had no trouble. We were so glad that we chose this home for our stay."

  • Great Retreat

"We came to Maine to explore Acadia Nat'l Park, but wanted to avoid the crowds during down times. The property location was perfect for several reasons: 1)Acadia (which is AMAZING) was a short drive away. 2)Depending on what side of the island we wanted to explore, our home base location - top north, allowed easy access to east side or west side. 3)This prop location is quiet and set back with virtually no traffic getting in and out. The only lights we saw at night were the moon and stars over water. Home is close to Ellsworth for groceries etc.. Property comes with kayaks - awesome to be able to launch right out back door! Very cool lobster shack across the bay - byob! There is one TV, which was not working while we were there (no cable, no basic channels, nothing at all ~ however, this was not a problem for us). Bar Harbor was 20 min drive for shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. The stereo sounded great. The well water tasted good to us (that's what we have at home), although the owners have provided a water dispenser with multiple 5 gallon containers of water available should you prefer that. Kitchen is great. Sunsets are everything previous reviewers described. The Bocci court in front yard was awesome . Owners were great and responded to all my inquiries/questions before we arrived, and without any prompting on my part they sent security dep back quickly. Would love to come back again ~ Thank You Carlton and Kathy."

  • Great family vacation!

"Our extended family of ten spent a glorious week at Fjord House. We hiked, biked, saw whales and the Windjammer parade and thoroughly enjoyed the home on Somes Sound. After a busy day exploring, it was always so nice to come home to the "quiet side" of Acadia!"

  • The best vacation we have ever had

"My family stayed at this location for 2 weeks in August of 2016. We have used VRBO many times and have never been disappointed, and this was no exception. In fact, within a day, every member of my family voted it the best vacation we have ever taken. The house is charming, and truly feels like a home with the large family room, comfortable furniture, and completely stocked kitchen. We cook every day, and I enjoyed preparing our meals here, there was nothing that I couldn't find, not to mention the fish my husband was catching every day! The direct TV and wifi were perfect. We happened to be there during the Olympics, and the television offered at least 20 stations just for the Olympics, along with whatever else we wanted to watch. The wifi was a blessing, since I did have to work a couple of days while we were there, and my computer connection was strong. The new front loading washer and dryer were very convenient, since I spent years at other camps lugging our clothes to the Laundromat for hours. I could just throw in a load and go kayaking, come back and change the load out. Upstairs, you will find a fully stocked linen closet with plenty of towels, and sheets to change the beds if you stay as long as we did. Bunk beds in one room (my boys loved this, and switched top and bottom for the second week so they could both have the top bunk!), in another room is a double bed, and a single. My girls took this room and loved it. We had no issues sharing the full bathroom, especially because there was another spacious half bath on the main level. The master bedroom is absolutely huge, with another television, and dressers, which are typically hard to come by in most camps. Truly, the best part of this rental is the owner and his sons. Chad was available for any question we had, and was happy to suggest local bike trails and hiking, which we loved. His boys happened to be the exact ages of my boys, and they enjoyed hanging out with them daily. Chad was always willing to take the kids, and us, tubing, which was one of the biggest highlights of the vacation for everyone! We built fires in the fire pit and had s'mores, and enjoyed each others company. The best part of the location of this camp is the sunsets. Please grab a cocktail and your spouse, and sit and watch the beautiful sunsets over Chemo pond. You won't regret it. We enjoyed every single thing about this camp, and have reserved 3 weeks next year. I am already looking forward to it."
