  • Bar harbor haven

"Great house conveniently located near but outside bar harbor, and near the park. Sand beach, the park loop road and Rt 3 were all accessible. House seems fairly new."

  • Wonderful time

"What a great property. Furnished with just about everything you could possibly need for your stay, comfortable, pretty location on the creek, and ideal for exploring this beautiful part of the country. I would definitely recommend it to couples or families. When you finally have enough of the lobster rolls then Vazquez Mexican take-out in nearby Milbridge is a great choice, or if you want to splurge then try Salt Box in Hancock. We really could not have enjoyed our stay more."

  • Return Visit to a Slice of Heaven!

"This house is truly a favorite of mine. This was an overdue return visit since I kept remembering the view and lovely town and have been wishing to return. And it didn't disappoint! Every time I walk into the living room, every bit of tension just melts away when I see the wall of windows with that black blue water peeking through the trees. I can only imagine that someone must have planned the grounds perfectly to provide lovely yet natural looking flowers, shrubs, and flora and skillfully placed trees that allow for an incredible view without sacrificing privacy. Just a perfect location since it is only moments to Southwest Harbor yet you feel like you are a million miles from everything. Great star watching at night by the way. In my previous review, I cited how well stocked the house is, and if anything, I think the house is even better stocked than last time; Tons of kitchen utensils, cookware, dishes, even books and games. It also has good, reliable internet. The owners are as helpful as can be. This place is very versatile and perfect for a family get away since it is kid friendly with lots of chairs for seating at the huge granite kitchen Island or the long harvest style dining table, or great for a romantic getaway or a girls weekend. I do like the fact it is so nice and quiet but yet Bar Harbor is only a short drive away."

  • Wonderful Week in MDI!

"My husband and I stayed at Ellen and Curt's house for a week in June. The house was ideal for our needs, with plenty of space and additional amenities like plenty of utensils in the kitchen for cooking. Everything was clean and well managed. We did not wind up making use of the fire pit, the grill, or the canoe, but those are available if you want them. The house is a bit out of the way from some of the bustling areas of MDI, which was a big plus for us. It was quiet and relaxed, but very easy to get around the island from the house. We went on several walks directly from the house, spent many days over in Bar Harbor, went all over Acadia (biked the Carriage Roads, hiked Cadillac and Acadia Mountains, visited Long Pond and Jordan's Pond, and enjoyed Echo Lake and Sand Beach), and also made it to Tremont to visit Thurston's Lobster Pound not once, but twice! There are two bathrooms in the house, but only one upstairs and you have to go through the master bedroom to access it. This isn't a problem at all if you are a couple staying there on your own, but it's something to consider if you have younger kids who might not want to go downstairs in the night to use the bathroom, or if you're planning to share the house with another couple. I'd also note that the house does provide bikes, but they've definitely been used over the years and aren't in the best of shape -- if you plan to do serious biking, I'd recommend bringing your own or planning to rent from one of the many bike shops in Bar Harbor (we did this one day to bike the Carriage Roads). We hope to make it back to MDI soon, and will definitely check to see if this property is available when we return."
