  • Great Lake Camp in Winthrop

"We stayed here 4 nights. It was a perfect central location for us to see friends and family while in town. The camp is very clean and very well supplied. We definitely look forward to staying here again the next time we are in town."

  • Camp Paradise!

"My sister and I recently had the opportunity to spend a week at this awesome camp (aka lakeside cottage) during fall leaf peeping season, and knew immediately that we had discovered camp rental paradise! When we were kids, our family spent many summers at our uncle’s camp in Maine. Over the past few years, we searched for a rental that would offer a similar experience. Unfortunately, we had been disappointed until now! We were happy to find the atmosphere we remembered from our childhood, along with a lot of extra touches that made previous rentals dim in comparison. The cottage itself is very attractive on both the outside and inside. It has been wonderfully renovated and decorated to retain a traditional and cozy Maine camp feel, with added modern touches that we truly appreciated. I easily relied on the excellent internet/Wi-Fi connection when I had to keep up with a few work commitments. Everything was clean and in working order. The beds are comfortable and well-appointed; the bath is modern and roomy; and the kitchen has nice appliances along with all the necessary items for cooking just about anything. Plus there is the cutest laundry shed! The lake itself is clean and beautiful, and just a few easy steps from the roomy screened porch. The locals are friendly as we discovered when we stopped at a roadside stand, and were invited to watch the process of pressing apples for cider. We went back to the barn area for a look, and even took a turn on the vintage apple press. The environment is pristine and the surrounding area is quaint and uncrowded. There is great hiking close by, and we enjoyed visiting nearby restaurants and shops. We are looking forward to returning in the summer season to enjoy the lake even more. The landlords are very pleasant and accommodating, making us feel more like welcomed guests than anonymous renters."

  • Cozy cottage - perfect for long weekend

"We stayed at the cottage for a 3 day weekend and it was exactly what we were looking for. The cottage is immaculate, with great views and quiet surroundings. We did not use the kitchen or laundry facilities to speak of as we were only there a few short days. The dock was convenient to tie up our pontoon rental. There is a small outdoor patio and fire pit which if we had more time we would have used but after boating/fishing all day and driving to Hallowell for dinner we did not have enough time. There were a few granite steps leading into the lake in front of the cottage and the water was crystal clear, clean and inviting. The lake, as usual, was hypnotic and un-crowded (so stay away! LOL). Both my husband and I caught fish each day, including the biggest Pike we have ever seen. This is an ideal cottage for a small family (sleeps up to 6) and I would highly recommend it. Good location, nice owners and beautiful lake that is close enough to all the conveniences you could ask for."

  • More than we expected...

"The Howard home was more than we expected for our family vacation. The house is fully stocked, sheets, towels, pillows, etc., even the kitchen has essentials and then some, I always bring tons of stuff from home, cheese grater, wine opener, etc., none of it was necessary, they think of everything! This is all on top of paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, pontoon boat (which was great to cruise around in and swim in the pond from), games, grounds, etc. The amount of space in the house was more than we needed, but it was nice to have space to spread out. There was something for everyone to do and the little town of Wayne does not disappoint either. Super cute general store and you MUST go to "Tubbie's" for ice cream, we admittedly went more than once. Mr. Howard was available on a moment's notice for questions and guidance while we were there. Terrific experience and super grateful that we had the time together as a family. Thank you from the Doug & Stacy Gooding & Family, Beverly, MA."
