Winthrop has a unique claim to fame: it's home to the only active inland waters lighthouse in Maine. The Ladies Delight Light is a small lighthouse in the North Bay of Lake Cobbosseecontee. Dating back to 1908, and just 25 feet tall, the tower is maintained by Cobbosseecontee Yacht Club. A 10-minute drive from a Winthrop vacation rental, Cobbosseecontee has many miles of shoreline, dotted with pretty coves and little islands.
