  • Great stay at Afterglow Cottage

"Cottage was clean, comfortable, and nicer in person then the photos. Me and the kids had a great time fishing for small mouth bass, and enjoyed some great hiking in the area. The islands on the pond were a lot of fun to explore, and the wildlife was great Loons, bald eagle's. Will definitely stay here again."

  • Best vacation ever!

"Great place to get away from it all! We loved our experience on the island! The water on Great Pond was so clear it was amazing! The camp is very clean and was perfect for our family. Sadies resturant and Days store is nearby and fun to access by boat. We plan to return every summer."

  • FAMILY MEMORIES

"My husband grew up on Lake Maranacook on the Readfield side. His family owned one of the tourist homes so you can imagine the fondness that he and his brother had for this lake. All of their 7 daughters grew up with amazing stories of family, games and this lake in an era of peacefulness, family games and playing in and around the lake. The week was selected, daughters and kids arrived and settled in. With Dennis's attentive hosting and thoughtful nuances (towels, dishes, games, deck chairs, BBQ, TVs, kayaks, life preservers, etc) they felt like they were "home" immediately. Then the rest of us would arrive and come and go daily! MEMORIES....we were across the lake from and able to "see" the familiar areas around Tallwood and the former Townsend Farm Inn. This meant home and and heart to all of us....words can not express what a delight and comfort this week was. We all made it to the lake daily...and the youmgest ones...well....its not an exageration to say, that everytime any adult said, "I'm going down to the water," there would be a mad sprint for suits and towels and the kids would beat them down the path! When we'd tire of the sunshine (who knew?) we had plenty of room to spread out in the house. We had TVs, ping pong, board games....but Grandma's and grandkids' favorite was dominoes on the dining room table! Groceries were nearby....and so was Pat's Pizza in Augusta (another family tradition) and plenty of places to stop for an evening ice cream....oh...and lobster...the traditional Maine feast?...of course!....our only request from Dennis for next year?.....a BIG 'ol LOBSTER pot for the kitchen! There have been hundreds of photos to share and weeks later, the family is still smiling and sharing the new Lake Maranacook memories. Another topic is now included, though......what new memories lie in store for us NEXT year! As my husband often says, "The game's a foot!" We are certainly booking early for another amazing summer blast so the kids will have their own Maranacook stories to add to ours. Kudos to Dennis and this wonderful and homey home and location! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!"

  • Best week of the summer!

"We absolutely loved our time at Sunset Cottage. It was the perfect mix of activity and relaxation. We felt lucky to be able to stay at Carol and Karen's perfect lake house, which is both rustic and charming with fabulous renovated kitchen and bathroom making it the perfect combo for a family get away!! We spent our days kayaking and swimming in the lake and evenings on the porch enjoying the sparkly evening reflection from the water steps away. We can't wait for our next trip back!"
