  • The Best Maine Experience Ever!

"Dear Carroll and Maureen -- it doesn't seem possible that exactly one week ago today we driving away from Somerled for the last time. I want you know that my family had a spectacluar time! Four generations of my family (Mom and Dad, my three sisters, 4 nieces and assorted husbands and great-nieces) will never forget our visit to Maine and your wonderful home. It was spacious and beautiful. I must confess that I was a bit nervous driving up that long gravel driveway, but once you get there -- oh my -- you never want to leave! We've rented many homes in Maine, other States and in Europe and I can honestly say that this was the best. Beautifully maintained, fully stocked beyond my wildest imagination and a million dollar setting. That view is incredible! I looked forward to getting up every morning and sitting out on the deck with a cup of coffee to watch the seals swim by and the lobsterr men pulling up their traps. We spent a day in Acadia, took a great whale watching cruise out of Lubec, drove over the Campobello and even found some time for relaxing. We dug for clams and made a huge pot of clam chowder. Picked wild blueberries. Made our own lobster rolls. It was the quintessential Maine experience. If you'll allow us, I feel certain that Jeff and I will be back. Perhaps next time with friends. Thank you again for making your home available to us. Please know that if anyone ever asks you for a reference, we'd be happy to extol the many virtues of Somerled. Sincerely -- Don and Jeff"

  • great views, peaceful setting, and room for the entire family

"Cook's Cottage is a great place to stay. We often have trouble finding enough king and /or queen sized bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate our entire family, and they provided the linens and towels, which was great! Nothing better than arriving after a long day (or two) of traveling to find a welcoming home, and the beds already made! The house also has a wonderful sun porch which was our family's favorite gathering spot, and it had a table that would seat our whole family. The roof deck offers great views of the harbor and the stars at night. Winter Harbor is a peaceful place to stay, while still being within easy reach of Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park (Mount Dessert Island), Finback Alehouse, and other points of interest. We also explored the Schoodic side of Acadia National Park, and took the Schoodic Ferry into Bar Harbor one day – the departure dock is right down the street from the house, which was great. Maine was gorgeous, and this house is great. Thank you!"

  • HOME away from home!

"Rocco's Cottage was much nicer than it was shown on line! It was clean, convenient, well-appointed and a pleasure to live in for a relaxing week. All things Bar Harbor were within a short walk from the cottage and its "set back" location provided maximum privacy. I brought my two dogs and felt like they were the only two pets ever inside the house because it was so clean! Lisa and Rick are REAL folks with a common-sense, friendly New England approach to everyone and everything. They are a gentle presence if needed and invisible if not. I felt completely at home -TRULY at home in their cottage because they provided everything you could ever need or want while away from home. I will return to Rocko's cottage because this was one of my best vacations, EVER!"

  • Maine Miracle

"Beachwalk was exactly what we needed and more than we expected. It would be hard to pick a favorite thing about our stay because we loved so much. We were a group of 4 active adults and dog and the location gave us everything we needed, along with more stunning beauty than we could imagine. The pictures are completely accurate--the house is spacious and the view is amazing. Each morning we each did our own thing in lovely Sorrento--biking, running, walking-then moved on to our exploration. Acadia was close enough to be convenient, but far enough to be away from the loads of visitors. We kayaked, walked, read books staring out at the view. We ate all of our dinners in and can honestly say there wasn't a single thing we could have asked for in the kitchen as every need is provided for. The rest of the house was well stocked, with a particularly interesting selection of books. The owners were incredibly responsive to my (many) questions, going so far as to recommend a couple of area potters to visit. The residents of Sorrento were some of the most friendly people we have ever met. We could not have asked for more and will be back."
