  • The cottage was wonderful!

"The cottage is clean, well kept, has great living space and beautiful views! It is very peacefu land off the beaten path, but nearby restaurants and activities. It was a great home base for our vacation. Trisha and Bob are delightful hosts, they offered up ideas of where to go and what to do and were so nice and helpful. We will definitely stay there during our next visit to the area."

  • Private, large, immaculate home on stunning setting!

"Pictures do not do this property justice! The home is very large and well laid-out for privacy between guests. The water is just a few steps away, with a soft sandy beach on a private little cove. Our two little dogs had the time of their lives and didn't want to leave!! The home was very well equipped, with closets and drawers in each room for our clothing and extra bedding just in case. The kitchen has every single appliance, utensil, cook and bakeware imaginable. Even a coffee grinder and French press! And the Lawlis' even provide a large variety of pantry items, should we have forgotten anything. The only downfall were the mosquitoes - but even this the owners had prepared us for with a variety of bug sprays, citronella candles, even one of those big zappers to help keep them at bay. Even though we were in town to work, this lovely home made our stay feel more like a vacation. We look forward to staying again the next time we are in town!"

  • Wonderful farmhouse with ocean views in every room; Great experience on a Working Farm

"My husband, daughter, my dog, and I all stayed earlier in August. I was very pleased that we were able to bring our dog and he loved the farm (although we did not enjoy the bath we gave him after he rolled in some cow patties!). We arrived with fresh organic products in our fridge - all very delicious. The family and workers on the farm were all very friendly. We loved the old farmhouse with the antiques and family history. If you love that - this place is for you. If you are looking for a modern five star type resort, this is probably not what you will like. It is on a farm so there are flies and you can smell the farm - but, hey it's a farm! We met the cows and calves and watched the cow milking. A cow parade went by the house in the morning when they went to pasture and in the evening when they went back to the barn. My family wanted to take many day trips to the local area, so I did not get to see and do as much on the farm as I would have liked to. We went to Campobello Island several times and had a great time exploring the FDR park and the rest of the island. We went to Lubec and visited the local brewery. We went to Eastport and went on a great whale watch. We also went to an off the beaten path seafood place which had the BEST lobster rolls - I can't remember the name but you can find it in Eastport on tripadvisor. We also took a trip up to Canada and went to Saint Andrews which which had a nice little downtown. We tried to get to the Upside Down fall nearby but had trouble finding the park with our iPhone map program and didn't make it close enough to high tide to see the actual falls. We had lovely weather all week and missed the heatwave back home. We brought our beach and swimming gear, but the water was way too cold for us at 58 degrees. All in all it was a great place for us to stay! If you are looking for a different type of vacation experience in the historic farmhouse on an organic farm in a beautiful area, I would highly recommend coming to the Tide Mill Farm."

  • Relaxing vacation

"The cottage description is correct. Somehow, it still smells new inside. Although there are other properties nearby, you are essentially separated from the neighbors and, since the access is only through a private road, there are no strangers. Two bathrooms come very handy, and we used the supplied grille a couple of times. Direct access to the swimmable water, however, was the main point to us - nothing can compare to swimming right from the porch in beautiful Downeast. A couple of tips: make sure you either have ATT or ATT data roaming, otherwise you won't have cell or mobile internet. Bring your laptop and some DVDs - there are no TVs in the cottage."
