  • Much more than expected!!!!

"My husband and 14 year old spent a week here, our first visit to Acadia. The pictures just do not do this jewel of a home justice. What an enchanting place. Beautifully remodeling of this 1903 family home, complete with evidence of family love and nurturing, where you can look in every nook and cranny and find the owners' personal touches providing everything anyone could ever need or want. Waking up in the huge master bedroom with the view of the harbor made me feel like I never wanted to leave the room. A incredibly well appointed kitchen also with every item you could ever want or need. The great room leading out to the spacious deck was heavenly. And let's not forget the grounds. Front back and sides all lsndscaped beautifully. The care taken in this property totally exceeded my expectations. Oh- and the bookshelves! I wanted to read every book in the house! I not only loved the house, but felt a closeness with the family that owns it. Just the way they have everything as I would in my own home and the added details that they took care in providing to make it a comfortable and relaxing vacation made this one of the best rental experiences ever. A word of caution - this is a home that you do not want to treat thoughtlessly - if you do not take care, it would be a terrible shame to see this home "trashed". It is a pristine jewel and we tried to care for it as if it were our own. As for the location, we loved being on the quiet side of the island, driving around was part of the fun. I would only say the only complaint I have about our vacation was that if we came back i would have to buy my own lobsters and cook them myself. I could not find a hard shelled lobster (so late in the season I suppose- we learned a great deal about the lobster trade, having done two tours) and I felt the restaurants were overpriced. To boot, I often do buy my own lobsters, and I really questioned the how they pass off chicken lobsters as pound and 1/2s. Other than that, everything we did, from relaxing at the house to all the adventures around the island, made this a great vacation! Thank you Reine and Bill and the rest of your family for sharing your home with us!!! Laura and Kevin"

  • Perfect Getaway

"My husband and I were lucky enough to stay at Ebb Tide for 5 days after a very hectic trip to Canada. It was the perfect place to wind down. Close enough to Acadia National Park for lots of beautiful sight seeing, hiking and exploring, yet remote and secluded enough for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful coast of Maine. There also were several good restaurants very close by serving very fresh and delicious local seafood and other great choices. Watching the tide come and go, and the sunrises and sunsets from inside or out was incredibly beautiful. The house and surrounding gardens were lovely and inviting. The owners, Shelley and Larry, were great! They couldn't have been more helpful and responsive to any of our questions or needs. We highly recommend this beautiful home for a perfect getaway ."

  • Gorgeous Get-Away!

"I always had a dream of visiting a "little fishing town in Maine"...Stonington did not disappoint. Doug and Leslie's cottage was fabulous, something you might see in a magazine. It was beautifully decorated both inside and out. The gardens were gorgeous and the front porch, oh so relaxing. Every accommodation one might need was there. A very helpful notebook was left to give some guidelines and fun adventures to try. Doug and Leslie were very friendly and always willing to help in any way they could, yet giving total privacy. The view from the front porch was one of a breathtaking beauty that this Texas girl had never experienced before...the sights and sounds of the lobster boats were amazing. Downtown Stonington was within walking distance and we walked it every day. The people were very friendly and it was nice to visit with the shop owners and get some historical background. We took the mail boat over to Isle au Haute and were impressed with the beauty of the harbor as we looked at Stonington from the water. I definitely got my wish of visiting a "little fishing town in Maine"! If I ever have the opportunity to return, I will definitely stay in Doug and Leslie's guest house....it was perfect! Thank you for making our stay so wonderful."

  • Relaxing, comfortable home

"What a great place! This home is so nice and comfortable, very relaxing and so quiet. It is literally 400 feet from Main Street, but it's on a dead end, so it was quiet any time of day. My favorite things about Wesley House are the fireplace, the big kitchen, lots of sunlight with all the windows and it is so comfortable it really felt like home to us. I also liked the big table in the dining area. We spread out our maps and planned our adventures from this spot. We were pleasantly surprised that it is not far from Bar Harbor at all. Gina is so pleasant to deal with. She is prompt with emails and and any questions or special requests. She is a great resource with suggestions/ideas about places to eat, where to rent bikes, ideas for great walks, hikes and even ideas about what to do on a rainy day. The kitchen is fully stocked, there are lots of towels, firewood, blankets, pillows, hot water, books, games. You name it. Just very comfortable with anything you might need. We just loved Acadia and the small town feel of Southwest Harbor. Great place, and Gina is so nice. Rent Wesley House, you will not be disappointed."
