  • Great Location and great house

"The house was located in a nice rustic location near Seal Harbor. Great views of the ocean and a nice safe place for children. Close to Acadia National Park and reasonably close to Bar Harbor. Plenty of space for a large group and nice fireplace. Just for full disclosure cell phone service is pretty spotty (I have Verizon so i don't know for other companies). Very nice and large kitchen with all the equipment you need to cook meals large and small, nice grill for outdoors cooking. Overall a great experience that I would recommend to anyone."

  • Ideal getaway!!!

"My husband and I have been going to Mt. Desert Island for over 45 years to enjoy the spectacular ocean walks and views, mountains, and lakes that the island offers. As much as we loved our twice (or thrice) annual trips to Acadia, the noisy motels/hotels and long restaurant lines were becoming tiresome and diminished our level of enjoyment. We'd often rented cottages elsewhere but had never found a cottage in the Bar Harbor area that we liked until we stumbled upon Paul's Cottage. What we ideally had wanted was a cottage on the ocean with a fireplace that offered both privacy and easy access to Acadia Park. After spending a fall and spring week in Paul's Cottage this past year, we have found it a perfect fit for us, offering many amenities including the following. - situated right on the shore with stunning westerly island and sunset views - welcoming, friendly, and accommodating owners (available but not intrusive) - a large updated kitchen not wanting for anything - fresh lobster and other seafood, produce, groceries, etc. available within a short drive - very good restaurants (especially in season) if desired - Acadia Park sites within easy driving distance - various books and games to enjoy by the huge fireplace (endless supply of firewood available) or on the spacious deck overlooking the water - the Southwest Harbor Library issues guest passes for non-residents for supplemental reading choices We are very much looking forward to our two-week stay this fall and are considering a winter visit at some point."

  • They thought of everything!

"This is a beautiful, clean, well stocked suite. My friend and I wanted two beds and this worked out. She had the bedroom and I had a comfortable futon. There is a well stocked kitchen including spices. A dishwasher, dish detergent and every pan you would need. The dining area is comfortable. The seating area is great for relaxing in. There were plenty of fluffy towels in the well stocked bathroom. They even had laundry detergent and dryer sheets provided. The yard has seating where you can watch the hummingbirds in the shade. It is right by a road but due to the fan and a/c you can turn on at night you never hear it. My friend said she didn't even hear it in the bedroom at all. You are right by Acadia and out of the Bar Harbor bus traffic. There is an ice cream place nearby called Udder Heaven you don't want to miss. I suggest getting groceries in Ellsworth on your way to Hummingbird. We stopped at Shaw's and they had a great selection and good prices. We ate breakfast and dinner at our lovely suite and ate big lunches out. It saved us a lot of money. You can buy eggs from Donna and Kevin so no need to pick any up!"

  • HOME away from home!

"Rocco's Cottage was much nicer than it was shown on line! It was clean, convenient, well-appointed and a pleasure to live in for a relaxing week. All things Bar Harbor were within a short walk from the cottage and its "set back" location provided maximum privacy. I brought my two dogs and felt like they were the only two pets ever inside the house because it was so clean! Lisa and Rick are REAL folks with a common-sense, friendly New England approach to everyone and everything. They are a gentle presence if needed and invisible if not. I felt completely at home -TRULY at home in their cottage because they provided everything you could ever need or want while away from home. I will return to Rocko's cottage because this was one of my best vacations, EVER!"
