  • A Cabin in the Balsams

"With only the smell of the balsam trees, the sound of the breeze in those trees and the birds in their lofty perches to touch your senses, you would never know you were 10-12 minutes from Booth Bay Harbor Town Center and its bustling crowds of tourists. Truly a place to kick back and relax, w/o the self-imposed distractions of laptops and tablets that we purposefully left home and cell phones locked in the car glove box to use only for emergencies. How about living life as we used to enjoy it reading the newspapers, and a good book (that the cottage has plenty of) and lots of conversation over coffee at breakfast. Not bad!! The cottage has everything you need to enjoy a week or a month within easy reach and well organized.; Its beds are comfortable albeit somewhat difficult to make up and the cottage is well maintained and very clean. Its not a Best Western or a Holiday Inn, etc., its a great little home away from home; a wonderful place to get away and smell the balsams!! P.S. the Lobster at Robinsons is the best. The ferry trip and day on Monhegan Island with the short hike to the cliffs on the Eastern side of the island is not to be missed."

  • Absolute Perfection

"We have just returned from spending an idyllic week with our children and grandchildren at Sylph Lodge, a truly authentic Sebago Lake camp. You know you have discovered a very special home when, within 24 hours of your arrival, you book your 2nd family visit for August 2017. Andy greeted us as we drove down the driveway and his tour of the Lodge made us feel instantly at home. The accommodations were very comfortable for 6 adults and two, young children. My first memory was walking through the kitchen to the dining room and spotting the basket of homemade blueberry muffins (secret family recipe) on the table. They were delicious and enjoyed by all. We wasted no time in finding our way down to the beach. We not only had 30 feet of beachfront but a dock and a float. Our grandsons are 1 and 3 years old so the gradual entry into the water was perfect. By the end of our visit, our eldest grandson had taken a supervised "swim" out to the float. There is a large outdoor deck with a stone fireplace. It became a gathering spot for chatting/reading during the day and roasting marshmallows and making s'mores in the evening. Our children and grandchildren are very precious to us and to be able to spend a week together in this incredible setting was a blessing. What memories we made during these seven days. Now, we will begin to plan for our return next summer. Our children and their families live in Minnesota and Tennessee so this may very well become an annual family tradition. Andy and Christopher, thank you for being the MOST AWESOME hosts anyone could ever hope for. You went out of your way to make sure we had everything we needed and we sincerely appreciate your kindness."

  • It was really nice.

"Giselle we had an awesome time at the cottage. We went there to go four wheeling and had a good time. The cottage was everything that we had expected. It was really nice to have the washer and dryer there. We had forgotten a couple of things for cooking but like advertised it was there for us to use, that was nice. The store a couple of miles away was handy for small items like ice and drinks. I am thinking we will be going back to the cottage next year!"

  • Lovely house, convenient location

"We had a great stay at the Lobsterman's Catch. The house felt roomy for our family of five plus pug. It was immaculate and comfortable, with a huge, well-stocked kitchen and dining room. The porch was a great spot to hang out and eat dinner. It was nice that there were gates to keep our pug on the porch. Every morning I would walk down to the little cove or across the street to Houghton Graves Park, a beautiful inlet. At high tide we swam at the cove or at the park on a tiny, rocky beach. During the day we kayaked with rentals from H2Outfitters, hiked at Giant Steps and Devil's Back, visited Freeport, and ate at Cook's (twice), Giant Steps Seafood Grill (great pancakes!), and had a picnic one day. We also got lobsters already cooked and ate them on the porch. We tried to eat at Dolphin Marina but there was a 2 hour wait! We'll try to make a reservation next time. Isis was very friendly and helpful! My only comment is that there actually isn't a waterfront view, as I was expecting. The cove is only 100 yards or so away, but there are two little streets and a row of huge trees in between the house and the water. So even though we could hear and smell the ocean, you can't actually see it. The house is described as ocean front, but that's a bit of a stretch."
