  • Perfect Get Away From It All

"I was looking for a quiet place to spend a week with my girls (12 and 15) that would be peaceful, fun, and close enough to Bar Harbor to visit but far enough to feel like we were getting away from it all. I really could not have found a more perfect place; John and Liz made us feel so welcomed it was like being in our own home, not a rental, right from the start. The house itself is really beautifully situated; the beach is right down a path out the back steps, the sun sparkles through the windows in the mornings, the stars sparkle at night and the waves, when it's windy, will put you to sleep. It's on a hushed country road with few cars; the quiet in the air is stunning, especially at night. We also fell in love with the dogs - especially Maddie, who we miss - it was like a fringe benefit! Everything we needed was there; bikes to ride and wood for the outdoor fire pit and even fresh eggs from the chickens. We stopped at Tradewinds in Blue Hill on the way for food - which I recommend - but the cottage has what you would need otherwise - towels and sheets and blankets and a kitchen stocked with the basics, pots and pans and utensils, washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc. Pretty much whatever you need is there, making it a lot easier to unpack and unwind. Liz and John are great hosts, the house is sweet and cozy, and it was as perfect a week as I could have imagined. If you are trying to avoid the bustle of Bar Harbor but want to be close enough to get there for dinner or day trips (about 45 minutes), you can't do better. Liz also recommended a boat trip in Bass Harbor (Island Cruises) which was an absolute must, a great way to spend an afternoon. Thanks Liz and John for helping us make lifelong memories, we hope to come back!"

  • Truly lovely ocean front vacation cottage

"We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary at Waterlily and it was perfect. The cottage was very comfortable, nicely furnished and decorated and everything we could possibly need was supplied. There are awesome views from every room in the cottage with no curtains in the bedroom to spoil the view. We watched seals, porpoises, loons, cormorants and bald eagles from the deck and the sunsets were spectacular (as are the stars at night with there being so little light pollution). The rocky beach was fun to explore at low tide too. The cottage is only about 10 minutes away from downtown Bar Harbor and the same to Acadia National Park. It was so nice to be able to vacation with our little dog, so many thanks, Chelcey, for making this perfect romantic cottage pet friendly - she enjoyed hikes every day in the park with us. This peaceful cottage and Acadia National Park made our anniversary super special. We'd love to return and stay at Waterlily again sometime. Actually, no....... I'd like to win the lottery and buy it !!"

  • Perfection plus

"We just returned from L 'Acadie with such beautiful memories. Our purpose was to celebrate my husband's 65th birthday so I wanted something that was out of the ordinary. We certainly found it at L'Acadie. We traveled with another couple and I was given the privilege of making all the arrangements. I knew from the reviews and the pictures that we wouldn't be disappointed but to see 65 plus year olds get excited about our location and accommodations was a treat in itself. The first evening we had the lunar eclipse and was able to experience that on the upper deck...what a site and start to a perfect week. We did have a lot of rain one day but even that was a good thing as it made us slow down just a bit and enjoy the quietness of the area. There was a great grocery store in South West Harbor, only a few minutes from L 'Acadie for the few things we needed. We had such a great time at a local restaurant too....if you get the chance, stop at Sipps in Southwest Harbor. Another highlight,on a rainy day was Oceanarium, north of Bar Harbor. Be sure to have popovers at Jordon Pond and Lobster stew...and don't forget Lobster at Thurston's about 5 minutes from L'Acadie...We all cannot wait to go back someday."

  • Lovely townhouse with easy acess to Acaida

"We loved the Northridge townhouse. We were very impressed with the cleanness, comfort of the beds and the helpfulness of the owners. The Barkers provided great insight into hiking, biking, restaurants and more. The extras at the house were so nice (for example a basket of books about Acaida, laundry room with detergent and more) We truly felt at home during our vacation. It is also nice the townhouse is so close to Acaida entrance and downtown Bar Harbor."
