  • Tranquility with a View that never gets old

"My wife and two older dogs spent a week here. While we have spent time on the south coast of Maine, this was our first trip to Mid-coast Maine. It was a wonderful introduction. The first impression after the hustle and bustle of the southern beaches is that this is sure isolated. You are about 20 minutes from Bath and all its restaurants and stores.. Perhaps because we live in the country ourselves, those reservations quickly melted and it soon felt like home. I love to cook, so I prepared all our breakfasts and dinners in the well appointed kitchen and ate them in the comfortable dining room. Large windows in the front and side of the house take full advantage of the spectacular views of the river and bay, all the way out to the ocean. A nice screened in porch complements the deck. As it was past bug season, we preferred sitting on the deck. In fact, my favorite day was one the only time we drove was to the dump, and the rest of the time we languidly sat on the deck or house and enjoyed the serenity of lobster and pleasure boats coming and going, the seagulls overhead, the diving ducks, and just watching the tide come and go framed by the blue sky and clouds. There are two masters with queen beds that each have great views of the water, and two other bedrooms if you need them. Missed no TV during playoff baseball season, but you can't have everything. We definitely enjoyed lots of time to read. The lobster pound up the road was only open weekends, but we did take advantage of that by sharing a big boy on our first and last nights. What really impressed me too was that in this seemingly remote spot, you can still get to many of the mid coast attractions in an hour or less, and Camden in less than an hour and a half. The internet is very fast and reliable too. All the amenities are here. No nickel and dining you on salt or water or anything else. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners the last day when they came up and stayed at their house next door. Betsy has been part of the Five Islands community all her life. We'll be back for sure."

  • Breathtaking!!!!

"From the moment we drove up to 'Baybreeze', we were in love. This has all the charm that anyone could possibly desire. As we opened up this site to write our review, our heart bled longingly. The sunrise each (yes, each) morning, opened our eyes around 5:30am (which IS early) but we found THAT to even be a gift as our days were lengthened :) The sound of the ocean brought such a calm. We saw one neighbor but never heard a peep from anyone in the neighborhood and hoped that we were quiet enough for them to endure for a week. Every aspect, from the dining table in front of a beautiful scene of the ocean to our bedrooms and the deck (where we ate most every meal)................were sheer delights!!! We bought live lobsters from Young's Lobster Pound and boiled them out on the back lawn. Everything we needed was available at the house. We, also, had visitors from nature that week as well.....3 loons, a bald eagle, a harbor seal and porpoise. We brought our kayak and highly recommend that other renters. This home is a pure delight. We can't wait to return!"

"We had a very pleasant stay at Marigold Cottage.Charlene and Liz were very welcoming. We enjoyed the cottage and it is well stocked and clean. It is very convenient to downtown Camden. It a wonderful place to stay while visiting Camden and the surrounding communities. We would recommend Marigold Cottage to any couple young or old."

  • Without question, the best rental we have found to date

"When anyone thinks about spending time in a vacation rental, several things come to mind. Is it in a good spot? Is it clean? Is it equipped with the essentials you would find in your own home? Is the surrounding area pristine, relaxing and a place you would like to return to some day? Is the take away when you leave a memorable one? This cottage on Damariscotta Lake is all of this, and much more. There was nothing missing in this cozy spot on the water's edge - in fact, there was so much more. We have stayed on quiet, out-of-the-way lakeside retreats before, but nothing like this. A fiberglass canoe and paddles were available for our use; two kayaks were available for our use, a dock was available for relaxing and swimming; a fire pit was available for s'mores; and a view of God's creation was available 24 hours a day. It was perfect in every way, and we can't wait to find a time to book another week. This is a home run in every regard."
