  • Great week at Portside!

"This was my family's first trip to Maine and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. Portside was a home away from home. The bedrooms were perfect for our family of six (4 adults, 2 kids) - just enough space so that we were together without being crowded. The kitchen was perfectly appointed with everything we needed to prepare meals and eat together at the dining room table - which also doubled as our poker table! When we were not inside, we were outside on the private deck, lazing on the float, or exploring the shops, restaurants and scenery of Boothbay. Having the kayak rental right next door was a huge plus for us too. We used the YMCA membership every day it was open as well - a great amenity for both the adults and the kids! Abby's effort into making Portside fit every possible need is evident from the collections of books, DVDs and boardgames, the basket of local menus/information, and all the extra touches like binoculars, picnic baskets, and blankets. Well done, Abby! We are looking forward to our next visit!"

  • Beautiful home in a fantastic location

"This house was the perfect size and layout for our large, multi-generational family. In total, we had 9 adults and 2 children ranging from ages 3 to 60. There was enough room in the home for everyone to spread out to have time alone, while the main floor was perfect when we all got together. The kitchen was fabulous for cooking family dinners and we made a lot of use of the expansive deck. All of the little extras provided, from the spice drawer to the game/puzzle collection, to the provided firewood and binoculars made it easy to feel at home from the minute we arrived. The location is very quiet and surrounded by woods with no road traffic, yet still only a few minutes out of town. The sunrise every morning over the river was absolutely beautiful and the campfire pit was perfect for the evenings. Communicating with Sandra was quick and easy and she provided us with some great recommendations of things to do and places to eat in the area which we took advantage of. There are only a couple things I would change about the home to make it even better: 1) The house only has 3 window A/C units. It was a bit tricky figuring out who in our group would be stuck in a bedroom without the A/C. It turned out just fine because we went in late August and the temperature cooled down a lot at night, so the provided box window fans kept the rooms plenty cool. However, if we had gone earlier in the summer without the cooler evenings, the older adults in our group would have had some problems sleeping in the heat. 2) It was a little tricky figuring out how to make use of the canoe since the shoreline is very rocky. On our last day we realized that high tide in the early afternoon was the perfect time to launch the boat. We noticed many other homes on the river had long docks that extend into the water, which would be beneficial for using the canoe even at lower tide. 3) The Queen bedroom on the main floor (the converted office) lacked a bit of privacy due to the glass pocket doors that were only covered with a sheer curtain. My sister-in-law ended up staying comfortably in this room, but an adult couple might want more privacy. Overall, I would highly recommend this home and location for visiting Maine. My family had an awesome time and if we ever come back to the area, this is where we would stay again without hesitation! Thank you Sandra for sharing your home with us!!!"

  • Awesome Week Getaway

"Wow, Lupine Cottage was fantastic! Great location. Perfect for 2-people. Super clean. Very comfortable and modern. The owner is WONDERFUL to work with! My husband and I took a weeks vacation, which very much needed, and this was the perfect place. Loved the footbridge into town. Boothbay Harbor is very picturesque. Local food was great. Being able to go to the waterfront to get fresh lobster to cook ourselves....what a treat. Loved the quietness of sitting on the deck. The area is very safe and welcoming. Will rent again, in the future!!! We both highly recommend renting Lupine Cottage to everyone. Thanks for the great week!"
