  • Beautiful home in a fantastic location

"This house was the perfect size and layout for our large, multi-generational family. In total, we had 9 adults and 2 children ranging from ages 3 to 60. There was enough room in the home for everyone to spread out to have time alone, while the main floor was perfect when we all got together. The kitchen was fabulous for cooking family dinners and we made a lot of use of the expansive deck. All of the little extras provided, from the spice drawer to the game/puzzle collection, to the provided firewood and binoculars made it easy to feel at home from the minute we arrived. The location is very quiet and surrounded by woods with no road traffic, yet still only a few minutes out of town. The sunrise every morning over the river was absolutely beautiful and the campfire pit was perfect for the evenings. Communicating with Sandra was quick and easy and she provided us with some great recommendations of things to do and places to eat in the area which we took advantage of. There are only a couple things I would change about the home to make it even better: 1) The house only has 3 window A/C units. It was a bit tricky figuring out who in our group would be stuck in a bedroom without the A/C. It turned out just fine because we went in late August and the temperature cooled down a lot at night, so the provided box window fans kept the rooms plenty cool. However, if we had gone earlier in the summer without the cooler evenings, the older adults in our group would have had some problems sleeping in the heat. 2) It was a little tricky figuring out how to make use of the canoe since the shoreline is very rocky. On our last day we realized that high tide in the early afternoon was the perfect time to launch the boat. We noticed many other homes on the river had long docks that extend into the water, which would be beneficial for using the canoe even at lower tide. 3) The Queen bedroom on the main floor (the converted office) lacked a bit of privacy due to the glass pocket doors that were only covered with a sheer curtain. My sister-in-law ended up staying comfortably in this room, but an adult couple might want more privacy. Overall, I would highly recommend this home and location for visiting Maine. My family had an awesome time and if we ever come back to the area, this is where we would stay again without hesitation! Thank you Sandra for sharing your home with us!!!"

  • Pride of ownership shows

"Stayed in this home for two weeks. The house is spacious and immaculate . Kitchen is well equipped. Our children and grandchildren visited for a few days. . Right across the street is Laite Park. My grandson loved getting up every morning .and going to the swings and walking along the beach. We loved sitting on the stone patio enjoying our coffee and the beautiful view every morning.. Enjoying a glass of wine and gazing at the stars at night was equally lovely. Another huge bonus, comfortable mattresses and soft linens. Janey is very sensitive and accommodating to your needs."

  • Amazing stay!

"Deb and Phil were great! They told us the places to go and what to see. We went down to The Happy Clam for drinks and the bartender told us where to find the freshest lobster! Drift Inn Beach was wonderful and dog friendly. We drove over to Marshall Point and went into Port Clyde, very cute area and amazing place to watch the sunset. We had a great time and will definitely be back!"

  • Beautiful Coastal Maine Home

"We stayed at this beautiful waterfront home this month and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! This home can accommodate a large family or group, with plenty of bedrooms, a large kitchen area for cooking and everyone congregating, plenty of living room space and the deck for outdoor meals is just spectacular! The views from this home just relax you from the moment you arrive! Southport Island is a truly special place and Boothbay Harbor is a charming Maine town with plenty to do and see. Check out the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens -- simply breathtaking and the Boothbay Harbor Land Trust for lots of walking/hiking options. A big thank you!"
