  • Magical

"The saltwater farmhouse is absolutely magical. The view of the ocean across the field is outstanding. We absolutely fell in love with this property. The weather was perfect and we just relaxed and walked to the rocky coast periodically to check out the tide pools and otherwise just enjoyed the ambiance. Our dogs loved the wide space to run and the swims in the ocean. The puffin tour leaving from Port Clyde is a must do if you are there at the right time of the year. Bring supplies because Rockland seems to be the closest sizable grocery store and it is a 30 minute drive at least."

  • Terrific cozy cottage perfect for our family of 4

"We chose this cottage based on its location to several of the attractions and towns we wanted to visit. We are from Virginia so we wanted to have a home base in Maine while we could explore but we also needed a place that supplied linens, towels, and a furnished kitchen. We wanted to be off of the beaten path not in a camp ground. This cottage offered privacy and plenty to do. Our children are (9 & 10) and enjoyed the use of the kayaks around the pond as did we. There were a great selection and amount of supplied life vests. They were able to explore in the water and the land (small beach and woods). The screened in porch was one of our favorite places - eating, reading, and game playing. Even when it rained, we sat outside not getting wet. We had brought a few of our favorite games from home but we found there were tons of games to choose from already at the cottage. The kitchen was small but totally usable. We would eat a later lunch out exploring then come home and eat a light dinner on the porch. We found everything we needed in the kitchen. The local grocery store was about 15 minutes away (if that) and there were several farm stands close by. I would and have already recommended this cottage to friends and family. I hope to be able to go back again!"

  • It couldn't have been better.

"My wife and I were looking for a last minute place to get away, far away, after a hectic spring and early summer work schedule that left us in need of a complete change of scene and change of pace, with no time even to think about planning a vacation in advance. As a VRBO owner, myself, I went to that website first. I don’t know what I even typed in to the search bar, but Marc Poirier’s “Artist Retreat” was the first possibility to pop up on the screen. I read the description: “post and beam open concept home,” “dead-end street in a quiet fishing village,” “five minute walk to…a lobster pound that will cook and serve you up some lobster and clams right on their deck.” “Beam me up, Scotty,” my heart sang as I checked the calendar and discovered that it was available for the dates I needed. The “Artists Retreat” did not disappoint. It was, indeed, a great and gracious home base for us to regroup and refocus, and enjoy the central Maine coast, from Wiscasset to Bar Harbor, from its many art galleries, museums and antique shops, to its breathtaking coves and coastline. Though the house came with a full kitchen, we found ourselves on the road most evenings at dinner time feasting harbor side in one town after the other on some of the best seafood I have had in my life. But, most special for me, was sitting at the kitchen table at 7 a.m. every morning, savoring my first cup of coffee, looking out the window at the cove beyond shrouded in mist, watching as the sun slowly rose burning through the haze to reveal the lobster boats riding at anchor and the islands beyond. It couldn’t have been any better."
