  • Maine on the Lake

"I grew up spending summers in Maine so I experience great joy every time I return. I don't need a luxurious place to stay because Maine's charm is being outdoors. Bill's cabin is a nice cottage on a lake in Maine. It's all straightforward, with all the necessary items. Has a big deck as well as a screened in porch. The location is quiet and private. There is a great view of the lake. The yard is large, with a hammock to relax on and a picnic table to enjoy an outdoor meal with family & friends. There is so much to do in the area...my favorite things are spending every day kayaking on the lake, fishing, getting the pie at Moody's Diner, strolling through Damariscotta, visiting my old haunts in Owl's Head, scouting out the local farmer's markets. Looking forward to a return this summer."

  • Excellent ten-day stay in coastal Maine

"My wife and I and another couple spent a wonderful week in the Lodge...wife and I had been in the area two years before and served as guides...Lodge is perfect and huge and very clean. Pat, the cleaning lady kindly provided us with a vase of flowers from her garden and a wonderful home-baked blueberry loaf cake...traveled to nearby Maine Prison store, featuring inmate woodwork at very reasonable prices...also, Morse's Sauerkraut retail store for their weekend brunch, featuring one of the best hash we've ever had. Dined in Damarascotta at Crissy's for terrific breakfasts and King Eider for dinner and lunch and always had oysters on half-shell...oysters in this region of the country are the best...clean, tender, opened so that liquor remains in shell and always on ice. Also had our share of lobsters...Chap, the owner was wonderful and agreed that my wife and I could stay an additional three days to avoid crowds during the Papal visit in Philadelphia for an additional fee. All told, it was a great trip to Maine and wife and I are already thinking about returning to the Lodge in two years. As noted in previous review, pictures don't do this property justice. It's terrific!"

  • You'll never want to leave

"We knew it would be nice, but in spite of beautiful photos and descriptions in the VRBO listing, it greatly exceeded our expectations. We have been in the hospitality industry for years having owned a B&B believing in treating guests like we would like to be treated. Clearly the owners of the Seas the Day home uphold the same philosophy because every detail has been thoughtfully tended. The kitchen is well equipped with highend appliances and all the conveniences of home. I wish my knives were as sharp as what I found in the cupboard. Plenty of dishes and nice wine glasses as well as first-rate cookware made every meal a dream to prepare. -The bedrooms and bathrooms were equally well appointed with extremely comfortable beds and ample linens but the highlight for us were the unbelievable coastal sea views. All bedrooms had access to balconies and decks and provided a relaxing atmosphere to bask in the ocean breezes each morning. -The main living room had really comfortable seating that took advantage of the rugged Maine coast views as well. It is so tastefully decorated - beachy without the kitschiness so often found in ocean resort homes. There is a beautiful stone fireplace and they provide the firewood! If you just have to keep up the news of the day, each bedroom and main living room have flatscreen TV's and cable. -By far my favorite space had to be the backyard. The oversized deck had wonderful Adirondack chairs and Weber Genesis grill. I highly recommend getting your hands on some oysters and roast them on the grill. The owners provided the name of a source who can deliver them to your door. The luxurious Hot Springs spa was amazing. We found ourselves in it day and night. There is a great glider by the edge of seawall and comfy hammock where you can get lost in a good book. There's even a firepit for those nights when you want to sit outdoors with the beverage of your choice! -The entire home is very private as it is situated at the end of a nice seaside community. It is the only home with its own private shoreline but you can go walk and birdwatch along the community beachside trail. It is right next to the Pemaquid Trail that can take you into the quaint village. We wandered down to the Cupboard for breakfast - it's delicious! This entire area has a lot to explore. The Pemaquid lighthouse is less than a mile away and it was a blast climbing along the jagged granite boulders. Be sure to bring your camera! Can't wait to return!!"

  • Good family reunion home.

"Our family of grandparents, adult children and grandchildren had a very nice time in this home for 10 days in August. Sleeping space was good, although there are no blinds so we made a makeshift curtain for the kids' room to keep out morning sun. We all had fun with the kayaks and swimming from the dock. However it was further away from the house than we anticipated- down the road and then down a path so not at all visible from the house. We made trips to Boothbay Harbor for the puffin boat trip, lighthouses, aquarium. Plenty to do and see from this location. We cooked all our meals in the roomy kitchen."
