"This was our second time staying at the FARMHOUSE. We stayed last year as a BABYMOON and this year as a " Help we are not on a BABYMOON." trip :) Everything was wonderful. The house is a mixture of country and city, and it really is the coziest and warmest place we have ever stayed. from the outdoor shower to the amazing kitchen. SO many pots and pans, wine and beer left in fridge for US. The amazing ping pong location in a barn with a swing overlooking pastures. We walked everyday to the local boat launch, our dog swimming and our 11 month old laughing. I walked to the island at low tied. We sat on the grass in the yard and napped. Being a jaded New Yorker I can say how lovely this place is. There is a farmstand down the street, Thomaston is 15 minutes away. Rockland 20. We went swimming in a lake in Camden and tried to find every ice cream location within 50 miles. The House sleeps IMO 4-6 . There is a downstairs room that we slept in with our child and an upstairs master suit with an amazing bathroom and shower that our friend stayed in. The living room is well appointed and looks like something from a NY loft. Cozy couch, gas stove, tv, dvd player, iPod dock. Grill outside. Laundry Machine. WHAT ELSE DO YOU FREAKING WANT? :) I've never stayed in a place that felt so much like home. TIPS: It's a quiet town and you have to drive about 10-15 minutes to get to Rt 1 but that is the point.. isn't it? The upstairs stairs are a bit steep but no problem for a child if supervision . there are 2 beds upstairs . There are many local shops and wonderful stores. A Walmart for emergencies 20 min away. There is an emergency VET 20 min away that we used when our dog ate an onion. :( You can walk and fish to the bay inlet in 10 minutes. You can jog on the dead end dirt road ...it's 3 miles to the end and back. There is a lovely playground park names " Kevin's park" I think ... near the gas station and general store in CUSHING. a very choice spot with a picnic table and a lovely playground ... perfect for the kids.. If you do have younger kids I would bring a gate as there are 2 stairs up to the kitchen . no problem . we got a $20 dollar one at WALL MART. :) The owners are so kind and even mailed back a bib and clothes we forgot. They left a few of their wines and beers they make in Massachusetts... so tasty. so kind. We can't recommend this home enough. We hope to be back again very soon. -aaron, Brooklyn. ny"

"This is a great place to stay. The beach is located just across the street and you have beautiful views of the sunrise and the lobster boats. The restaurants are within walking distance and very convenient. We ate at Dots' in the mornings and the Lobster Pound one evening. Both were very good. We spent a lot of our time in Acadia National Park. The drive to that area was beautiful. Dotted with small New England towns and beautiful old homes. The owner of the apartment was very helpful and attentive to all our needs. Coming from Georgia and some pretty warm temperatures, I was concerned about the lack of air conditioning but the evening temperatures were cool and daytime temperatures were low eighty degrees and always a breeze . We even got a message from Mr. Pinkham to turn on the heat one evening when the temperature dropped into the fifties. I traveled there with my 21 year old grandson and 19 year old granddaughter and my 45 year old son. There was plenty to see and do for all of us young and old. Thank you to the owner, George Pinkham for allowing us to stay in your vacation rental."

  • Loved this cottage

"I cannot say anything that hasn't already been said in other reviews. The cottage was lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The owners have gone to great length to make this vacation home as inviting and comfortable as possible. The house was nicely furnished, lovingly decorated and very well equipped. We found everything you could want or need, and then some. The house was also immaculately clean and everything was in good working order. We have rented many vacation homes in many different places over the years, and this was by far, one of the nicest."

  • A Lovely Dog-Friendly Vacation!

"This was our second year at Hawkweed and we had a wonderful time. It's a great place for dogs and ours took full advantage of the swimming! A great place for kayaks as well. We enjoyed watching the changing view, including herons and hawks. The location allows is very private and close to nature, but just a few minutes to Rockland and great shopping, especially for seafood. Don't miss the Farnsworth, great art galleries and the Olsen House. The owners are lovely!"
