  • Property is set along a beautiful private road and cabins have a great rustic look

"We had such a great time at this cabin, as it was located perfect distance from places we wanted to visit. It was very clean and had all of utensils needed to make your stay enjoyable. The view of the back porch onto the river is a perfect scene when the sun is rising/setting. There is not a lot of noise from boats or people driving by as you are set back far enough from the street. The only change I would make on my next trip is getting a bigger cabin as I went with my girlfriend and two dogs so we could've used some more space, but it is perfect for a couple people. I highly recommend staying with Back River and will most likely stay here again next year (in one of the bigger cabins)! Brian"

  • Very quaint and peaceful

"We just returned from our visit last week and our vacation was wonderful. The house is tucked away on a private drive with no other neighbors visible from the house. The home itself is very cute and the view from the covered porch is spectacular. Some of the flowers were still in bloom outside which was nice to look out the windows and see. I can imagine the flowers would have been gorgeous earlier in the season. The kitchen was well stocked and the homeowner was very responsive to any questions we had. Our family really enjoyed watching the tide come in and go out so it was almost as if the view changed throughout the day. We were so busy sightseeing around the area that we didn't get to use the kayaks but appreciated they were there if we had chosen to. Our son had a wonderful time running around the back yard so it was nice he had a semi flat area to play. The only thing I would say is if you have toddlers or other small children, be careful on the portion of the deck that is not screened. The railings had very large gaps that a curious child could fall right through so we had to keep our son from going onto that portion of the deck for the most part. We also had to move a few breakable decorations out of reach from our son when we first arrived but that was not a big deal. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend this home if you are looking for a secluded location. We did spend quite a bit of time driving to and from the other areas of the coast such as Rockland, Camden, Port Clyde, and Boothbay Harbor due to where the house is situated on the inlet."

  • Magical property, great for a group stay

"We've spent NYE at the Farmhouse for 2 years in a row now. I can't say enough about this place! Totally spacious for 10 people. We cooked all of our meals at the house - cookware and dish ware is plentiful. We spent our days hanging out by the fire in the living room (plenty of chopped wood available), playing ping pong and basketball in the barn (it's decorated with christmas lights which make for a really cute environment in the evening), and walking out to the ocean. Maggie is a wonderful host, super responsive. I highly recommend this property for any type of stay."

  • Great House and Property in a wonderful setting!

"Our second vacation in your lovely Maine home was even better than the one last year -- except that we should have stayed longer! There are so many things to do nearby that it was hard to fit them all into two weeks. We also enjoy just relaxing on the large deck, gazing out at the water and the birds or watching the full moon rise over the river. Having the Botanical Gardens within a mile is great - we enjoy the gardens as well as the kayak trips that are run from their location. Porters Preserve, Gregory Preserve and Oven Mouth are our favorite hiking areas nearby. My husband loves bicycling down River Road and over to Southport and we both like to drive down to enjoy lunch or dinner overlooking Townsend Gut at Robinson's Wharf. We entertained friends at your house this summer - both for a barbeque and a lobster dinner. Purchased the lobsters at nearby Trevett Store. Your kitchen is so well equipped, entertaining was a pleasure. We also enjoy the huge and interesting selection of books that fill your house. We are looking forward to another, longer, stay next summer."
