  • Fabulous Cottage - Fabulous Location!!

"We recently returned from introducing our Daughter and her family to Maine and stayed at Stepping Stones. This cottage has large bedrooms for the size of the cottage and absolutely lovely appointments. All you need is there. It is truly a turn key property, very well kept and Location .. Location .. Location!! We hated to leave! There is no air conditioning, however it is not needed with the ocean breeze. We brought fans and never used them. Boothbay Harbor Region has lots to offer, restaurants, shops, galleries, Whale Watching, Boat trips on the harbor, Lighthouse tours and much more. The owner is very accommodating and easy to work with. I would rent here again in a heartbeat!!"

  • Beautiful Studio Cottage on the Bay

"We chose Hopkins View because we love kayaking on Maine bays and harbors. We rented kayaks for a week from a nearby outfitter who delivered and picked up our boats & gear. Launching and coming ashore was generally easy directly from the front lawn, as described, allowing for tides, which were generally favorable. The bay offers interesting paddling, with many islands, scenic views, wildlife; a nautical chart & compass were useful to us. WiFi service worked well and allowed us to access the weather and marine forecast-very helpful because wind and tide can be tricky. Anna's Water's Edge Restaurant in Phippsburg is on the water just across the bay and can be accessed by car or kayak-great, fresh seafood with local color!! On a rainy day we visited the beautiful Coastal Maine Botanical Garden in Boothbay Harbor, and Popham Beach State Park on the Georgetown peninsula offers sweeping views of the Atlantic on a long stretch of white sand beach. The 'cottage' is a downstairs studio apartment with a private entrance and its own front yard on the water. It was lovely, very comfortable, and clean. There is a well-equipped kitchen, and pleasant dining space indoors or out on the picnic table. Spacious bathroom and comfortable bed. The front yard has both sun & shade, and great views of the harbor and islands. Nearby Cundy's Harbor offers fresh caught lobster and seafood, and an active traditional Maine fishing harbor. Renting from Jean was very easy. This is an ideal spot to rest, relax & rejuvenate. About 1 hour from Portland and city offerings, but off the beaten track and not overly touristed. Very quiet, peaceful and well-maintained. I would recommend this property to a couple or single person, Jane P"

  • A great taste of Maine

"This home was a wonderful setting for our family gathering of 8 people. We cooked lots of blueberry pancakes in the brand new well stocked kitchen and grilled many dinners outside on the deck. Evenings were spent playing games around the generously sized dining room table. Our 8 and 10 year old grandchildren had fun fishing ( we only caught crabs) from the dock, but really loved Popham Beach State Park, 20 minutes away. The location was a perfect launching point for day trips to the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden in Boothbay, LLBean in Freeport and our son's favorite brewery in Portland. Our CA daughter- in- law got her fill of lobster at various local restaurants and we found a Bait and Tackle shop on 209 that had the best homemade pies. It was a wonderful week in a very comfortable home."

  • Peaceful Secluded Getaway

"This was our first "family" vacation that all four generations were in attendance. Parents, children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. 20 of us to be exact, with five of those being under the age of 10. I can't say enough about Sarah and her willingness to help me plan and iron out details for this vacation. She was so kind and helpful throughout the nine month planning process. The house was more than big enough to accommodate our large group. We had evening meals in the great room with all 20 of us sitting around the two large tables. We came from Pennsylvania where it had been hot and typically 100% humidity. The relief of cool air, low humidity, open windows, and no air conditioning was a much welcome break for all us. The short walk to the beach was not an issue, even for my parents who are in their late 70's. The children all found sea shells, sea glass, sand dollars, and had so much fun walking out to the "island" when the tide was out. We walked along The Giant Stairs, visited The Candy Store, Land's End Gift Store, and were able to rent paddle boards for the week. There were plenty of sand toys at the house for the kids who had a fierce sand castle competition. The kitchen was more than adequately stocked with plenty of dishes, flatware, pots, pans, etc. There were two coffee pots, which was great for such a large group. The yard is extremely large and was perfect for the kids. The adults were even conned into a game of wiffle ball. If you want chocolates on your pillow, fancy restaurants, and high end shopping, this isn't the place for you. But, if you want a vacation where curling up with a book on a nice front porch, listening to wind blow through pine trees, and kids giggling in the yard is the ordinary day, this is your place. If morning walks on a quiet beach is more appealing than a bustling boardwalk, this is your place. We had a fabulous vacation. Thank you Sarah for help making that happen."
