  • It doesn't get much better than this!

"This was our first stay at the Boathouse cottage and will definitely not be our last! We were looking for a private place to stay that would be within walking distance to town, and we found it here. The walk to town is very short, but you'd never know it, given the privacy of the Boathouse. After exploring the entire town, we truly feel that the view from the cottage is the best in town. The cottage itself is the perfect size for a couple, and the view from the picture window in the bedroom is incredible. The kitchen is modestly equipped, but it worked perfectly for us, as we didn't want to do a whole lot of cooking. We didn't see the need, when there were so many restaurants within walking distance! Shane generously told us to let us know if there was anything we needed and didn't have; there wasn't. We did make use of the grill on the deck, which was great. The cottage is right next to the Boothbay Harbor Shipyard. There was some activity there during the week, but the noise was minimal and never bothered us. The best thing about the cottage is the rooftop deck, as well as the use of the large oceanfront lawn and dock. We really enjoyed our nightly trips to the rooftop to look at the stars (including a couple of shooting stars). We enjoyed wine and snacks on the lawn one night with Shane, who is an extremely personable host. We truly believe there's no better place to stay in Boothbay Harbor (if you need more space, check out Shane's other properties on the same lot: Landings East and Sur La Mer). We can't recommend the Boathouse cottage enough!"

  • Our own little piece of paradise with rich history

"Where do I even begin?? I have so many wonderful memories of our stay at the Farm. My family and I spent Labor Day weekend at the DeWick Farm. It was nothing short of AMAZING! The Phipps Point area was wonderful, lush and full of woods with houses quietly tucked away in their midst. The was no shortage of privacy at all in this amazing area. There was also a great amount to do right outside the house. We spent a few days down by the river fishing while the kids hunted around for "creatures". The kids absolutely loved it! There is so much space surrounding you and not a soul in sight... at night you can see billions of stars (yes, billions!) and hear the animals communicating to each other in the woods. As far as interactions with neighbors or traffic, well, the occasional car driving past the house was considered the Farm's "traffic", lol... and of the few cars that did pass, not one went by without a wave and a friendly smile. The home itself is a very special place. Full of memories and pictures, being in there you can vividly imagine what it must have been like more than half a century earlier. The home is in great shape, Catherine and her family have maintained it beautifully. We felt lucky to be able to stay in such a beautiful, historic home. My family and I were very sad to have to leave, for the short time we were there it truly felt like home. We made memories there that will last a lifetime. Before we even arrived Catherine made us feel at home. Once there we were able to meet Catherine and her family. They were all such wonderful, kind spirited people and we feel fortunate to have met them. If you're looking for privacy and a home located in a pristine setting, this is the home for you! Thank you to the DeWick/Johnson family. All the best, Ellaine P.S. - Catherine, I've listened to your advice and my entire linen closet reminds me of your home in Maine! :)"

  • Lovely digs and sweet people

"Echoing the previous reviews to say that this rental had everything we could have wanted and more for ourselves and our two kids, 5 and 7. Extremely comfortable, peaceful, and well-appointed, in a terrific spot within spitting distance of gorgeous coastline to explore, great meals and cute towns. The little beach, changing tides, rocks and sea creatures were endlessly fascinating for my city kids; my daughter liked to run around the yard shouting "I'm living the dream!" The whole area was very friendly, low-key, and accessible; it was easy to feel at home. Gordon and Sheila were so kind and welcoming, full of great tips for local spots. I would stay here again in an instant and hope we can. Many thanks!"
