  • Fantastic week

"You can't beat the views here!! It has the feel of a ship, open and airy, but spotless and comfortable with modern, high end touches and appliances with a fantastic hot tub to boot. The cove is very quiet and beautiful. A canoe ride around the cove revealed a eagle nest, lobster boats, birds and beautiful sailboats. The owner lives nearby and was very friendly and helpful....highly recommend!!"

  • A perfect house for a week of relaxation with the whole family.

"We arrived for the week with five adults and our dogs. The house is set along a beautiful water view with a private access road. We did not have to worry about a busy road nearby with the dogs and the sunsets over the water were stunning. The front lawn was a great place to spend the late afternoon playing cornhole and enjoying the day. We spent our mornings and evenings on the deck looking out at the view. The screened in porch and picnic table was perfect for every meal we ate at the house. The outdoor space was perfect for the dogs as well. Our kids used the tennis courts down the road, and we all walked the dirt road daily with the dogs. The layout of the house was perfect for us. When we arrived, it was perfectly clean and so well designed. Everything had a place and we immediately felt right at home. There was a master bed and bath on the first floor so that we could stay there and the "kids" stayed upstairs. They enjoyed using the common space on the second floor for board games and card games after dinner. The bedrooms upstairs were spacious and perfect for people to have a little private space when anyone needed it. Downstairs, the kitchen/living room open space was great for us because we did a lot of cooking, especially in the evenings, and there was room for everyone. We used the outdoor cooking pot one night for lobsters and they were excellent. We did not use the little study room off the kitchen much because we were either cooking or outside. We totally lucked out with the weather and found ourselves wanting to be outside every moment possible. We have a truly wonderful week. We have not been able to do a family vacation to Maine in years because of competing schedules. This week lined up by chance and we found Jutta's Place. Because of the wonderful time we had this summer, our kids have already worked to line up a common week off next summer so that we can return. This house was a great place for all of us to unplug, relax, laugh, eat, and enjoy summer in Maine."

  • The eyrie nest

"Update of Thoreau’s Maine Woods: Where would you take your Swiss relatives who had taken you the year before to the site where your father fought in World War? They wanted nature, hiking, birding, reading, music and restfulness. So did we. And so we came to this wonderful cabin near Freedom, Maine. We saw a bald eagle at Sandy Point and heard loons on the first evening. At every meal, chickadees and nut hatches entertained us at the creatively hung bird feeder outside the screened porch; we often heard a woodpecker in the woods. A loon did show itself to our cousin on a solitary walk. Paul’s cabin is much different than E.B. White’s. You will recall that White allowed the raccoons to live in the soffits so that he could watch their life. Paul has a very tight, modern cabin with every convenience you could want. There was enough wood in his shed for many days and instructions for novices on how to build a fire. My favorite items in the main room: the walnut drop-leaf table, reading lights every possible place you might sit, skylights that made the whole place warm and bright, the leather couch, the LL Bean rug with Maine creatures. I like to be surrounded by books and music and they were provided if you had not brought your own. I was deep into Reinhold Niebuhr and Cormac McCarthy, but made time for the cabin’s Andrew Jackson and May Sarton. We had brought CD's and enjoyed the cabin's wide selection, too. The cousins were upstairs and we were in the master bedroom. To note the level of care, the owner had been told that I was allergic to goose-down pillows, and my pillow had been switched to a non-allergenic one. The bedding was very comfortable. I oared myself in the single kayak around the point in Sandy Pond, the water still and warm in the late summer sun. We felt so at home we rearranged the porch, putting the table perpendicular to the screened wall so that the two couples faced each other. We ate simply but well, partly a result of the well-equipped kitchen. We used the hot tub, particularly delightful at nighttime with a view of the evening sky. We cannot describe the care with which this place has been created and how this care translates into a restfulness that comes over a person who enters with the tensions of the modern world only to find release and peace."

  • Perfect for all ages

"Our extended family of five adults and five kids spent a great week in this house, enjoying the beautiful water views and the fine amenities. We took day trips to Boothbay and to Reid State Park, kayaked off the dock, swam in the little cove on Kehail Point, and enjoyed dinners cooked at home in the beautiful, well-appointed kitchen, and at restaurants in Georgetown and Boothbay. The downstairs area was a great space for the five kids with plenty of sleeping room and a full bathroom (and fast wifi, much appreciated by the teens). The upstairs rooms were spacious and comfortable, and even with multiple showers, loads of laundry, and the dishwasher, we never once ran out of hot water. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us."
