  • Lovely place to stay, highly recommended

"Jim quickly responded to our initial inquiry and made the entire process easy! He checked in after our arrival to make sure we had what we needed and were comfortable. The cottage has beautiful views, is very comfortable and private. We enjoyed "hanging" out and our dog felt very much at home (sorry for all the dog hair). We followed Jim's advice re: restaurants and enjoyed meals at Watermans (now closed permanently), Millers, Primo, Happy Clam, Home Kitchen, Café Miranda etc. Thoroughly relaxing trip and a great place to stay. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us. It was wonderful!!!"

  • An amazing place to stay and take in some Maine culture!

"This home was very comfortable for us (two couples) and we got to enjoy the workings of a Maine lobster pier! It was fantastic to watch how they do day-to-day operations from the deck of the home and there is a fabulous lobster restaurant right on the pier owned by the family who owns the property. The home was very clean and well appointed. The kitchen had everything you would need for any meal. The bedrooms had more than enough space and the king-sized beds were very comfortable. The windows in the living room and dining area look straight out onto the pier and the vistas of the bay. Ms. Miller could not have been a more gracious hostess before and during our stay. I had forgotten to book a night for our stay and she had no problem booking the extra night for us. She provided a lot of good information about the area for us. She is very responsive on email concerning your stay. The property is the home she grew up in and it is very comfortable. The places in the area that we enjoyed were McKloon's Lobster Shack, Morse's Sauerkraut and European Deli, Moody's Diner and Dorman's Dairy from an eating perspective. Sweetgrass Winery and Distillery was outstanding for what is called Smash and their gins were also a hit. We hit the Maine State Aquarium, the Boothbay Railway Village, Marshall Point and Owl's Head Lighthouses and all were worth the trip. Almost everywhere we would drive into the small towns like Port Clyde near Marshall Point Lighthouse and you find great little General Stores and picturesque views around you on all sides. There is a Maine State Prison Store in Thomaston that has all kinds of hand made items such as boats, furniture and many other types of items at good prices. There are a myriad of antique stores in the area that have a lot of interesting items. I am sure there are other things I am missing but just go out and drive around the area and you will find many interesting things to explore! I highly recommend this property for your stay on the Maine coast and you will not be disappointed in the experience!"

  • Stunning Coastal Maine Property

"We rented this house in late June. It has beautiful views, the sunset is the best while basking on the small side porch/deck sipping your glass of wine. The house easily accommodates 6 people. There is a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances. You can wash & dry your clothes in the laundry, or possibly you might wish to hang them on the clothes line to dry in the sun with the island breezes. The house is cozy and comfortable; you could easily curl up and read in the attractive living room or on one of two outdoor porches. The bedrooms and bathrooms are wonderful, new, and nicely decorated. There are beautiful outdoor gardens full of perennials and a sumptuous vegetable & herb garden. We loved every minute of our stay at Sandy & Cliff's house. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone."

  • Worth the return visits

"This was our 5th time to stay at 32 Merchant's Landing, 3 times with the former owners and the 2nd time with the current. Each time I am even more impressed with the condition of the property, the cleanliness and the comfort. We are always looking for a quiet place to spend our time away from the big city of Houston, TX and this certainly fills the bill. Not too far from restaurants, museums, and shopping, but not on the beaten path. We love it and therefore highly recommend it to anyone interested in experiencing life in Maine. We were there at the absolute peak of the fall foliage season so the leaves were beautiful. The Maine coast has a plethora of great places to eat your fill of lobster or whatever you desire. In this house you can sit on the porch and watch the lobster and sail boats coming and going. Very relaxing. We look forward to our 6th stay!"
