  • LAKEHOUSE DELIGHT

"Super comfortable and updated house suitable for the whole family. Stunning lakefront location with large lawns and majestic trees. Family of baldheaded eagles in residence, as well as ducks passing by, the call of loons, and egrets standing on rocks. We loved floating in the clear, warm lake. Perfect location in mid-coast Maine. We visited lovely Belfast town, went out on schooner at sunset, Penobscot Narrows Bridge Tower, Fort Knox, Castine, and Acadia National Park. I recommend the lobster boat tour out of Southwest Harbor on Mt. Desert if you have the time. This was our second summer in Belfast, and we still haven't seen all we wanted to see. This house is the perfect base for relaxing and sightseeing. We hope to return."

  • beautiful property, Inside is amazing

"Property has everything you need an more. Inside reminds me of a log home. Decorations an just way its set up, couldnt have asked for more in a vacation home. Plenty of area inside an out. nice fire ring. Kayaks worked great, fishing was good. Tons of ducks an loons. Hummingbirds around feeder. Enjoyed getting up an sitting on porch for sunrise. Neighbors were awesome an helpful. Went to Camden an Rockport for day neat little towns on ocean. Just a great house an scenery to enjoy family away from home, Kids an parents loved it, only complaint was leaving."

  • Cozy inexpensive getaway

"The home is generally what is described in the listing, but the photos could be updated for the outside. The pictures don't do the inside justice, as the main floor is much larger than it seems. The wifi was quite spotty and dropped a lot, which wasn't that bad for us, but don't expect to do that much. If you wanted a cozy cottage in the form of a house, this is it. A lake house should have a decorum of cleanliness over a cottage. It wasn't overtly dirty or anything, just small things. If you like spiders, spiderwebs in all corners of the house (inside and out), then you'll be at home here. The kayaks and canoe were in similar condition. Also, the musty smell in the downstairs (sleeping area) might have been around for a few years. Other than those two gripes, the home is reasonably clean. Again, all a value for the money spent. I mentioned the spider issue to the owner in a written correspondence and encouraged a dialogue, but it appears he didn't want to reciprocate. Sadly, it's nothing a day of cleaning won't fix- which makes it look lazy. If I was given free time there, I'd return and enjoy it, but I wouldn't necessarily pay for a return trip. This is great for an inexpensive or first trip renting a home like this. Pros: -Away from everything, but reasonably close to modern amenities (grocery store, local shops, within 30 minutes of a small city) -Spacious rooms and wrapping deck -Sufficient equipment provided -Value for money is high Wildcards: -"Naturally air conditioned" means windows and ceiling fans. If it's more than 85 degrees and/or 75% humidity, it gets pretty bad on the main floor. Only be concerned if you mind the heat. -Deposit took >2 weeks to be received back (I live <200 miles away)- this is for those that expect it back within that time frame. I know he had 30 days by law, but apparently other owners try and get it back in 7-10 days. Cons: -Cleaniness- if you expect something well taken care of, this may not meet your expectations -Outside is constricted with brush overgrowth- don't expect a wide open space with lots of room to do things outside -Dock needs some cleaning/repair/modernization- don't spend too much time there -Not swimmer friendly- murky and muddy"

  • The sunsets you can watch from the house are worth the price of alone.

"Nice secluded area. It is so quiet at night, the only thing you hear are the loons. The sunsets are breathtaking. Access to the lake is right there. Canoed multiple times on the beautiful lake! Definitely will recommend this place."
