  • Excellent location and accomodations.

"This was my first trip to Vinalhaven (and definitely not my last!). The rental is nicely decorated and equipped with everything that you need for a fun stay in this great town. I cooked lobsters almost every day. It is centrally located to town so that you really do not need a car to get to most locations. (If you do, take the local taxi.) Caleb provided wonderful suggestions as to food and local attractions as well as went above and beyond as a landlord. Would highly recommend this rental and plan to return. Thanks!"

  • cozy cottage, spectacular setting

"My husband and I stayed at the Crockett's Cove fisherman's cottage for two weeks. The setting is simply extraordinary, majestic, and pristine. The house sits just above a tidal flat, with the high-tide line only a couple of feet from the back of the house. With the tide going in and out each day, a staggering amount of wildlife parades past the cottage -- great blue herons fishing in the tidal flats, a family of osprey nesting adjacent to the house, the occasional seal, a raccoon with her cubs, squirrels around the house, rabbits, and sea-ducks of all sorts. Nature is close at hand there, and totally cinematic. It was hard for us to tear ourselves away from the property, there was so much to watch and pay attention to. There are many exquisite nature walks on Vinalhaven, and spectacular quarries for swimming, a wonderful farmers market twice a week, several good restaurants, incredibly friendly people -- too many things to experience in one trip. Our hosts were warm, helpful, responsive and prompt. They provided thorough information on the logistical and cultural aspects of the island, the intricate process of bringing a car on the ferry, maps for the nature walks, and even a canoe for exploring Crockett's Cove. The house was clean, nicely maintained inside & out, and well appointed. But -- and this is the ONLY 'but' -- it is cluttered and over-furnished. In the grand scheme, this was a trifling matter. We would rent this cottage again without hesitation, and have already recommended it to friends."

  • Could not have been more perfect!

"We hosted a large group for my husband's 50th bday in Camden. People came from all over the country - eleven stayed in the house and more attended the lobster bake we had in the backyard of this wonderful house. First, the house is designed for a group. Everyone can spread out or be together. Using the studio, eleven fit perfectly with everyone having their own bed and no one on pull-out couches. It is hard to tell from the pictures the scale of the backyard. It is enormous. We spent most of our time on the deck, which is perfect for entertaining. We had a birthday party, but I could see a wedding or other events here. The location of the house was also terrific - a block from the water and a small beach, a short walk into town with shops, cafes, and the beautiful harbor. There was plenty to do in the region, no matter one's tastes - hiking, great food, even a huge TV for those watching the Olympics. Last, the owner's hospitality exceeded expectations by answering our many questions and taking care of our every need. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in the mid-coast region. Thank you so much for everything!"

  • Very nice property

"The property is a lovely farmhouse with a lot of period details and you can tell that the owners take pride in it. We had a pleasant stay. We were there for 2 nights for a conference, so we were not able to use many of the amenities, but the owners truly had some nice touches like the artwork on the walls, and some excellent spices, and other items in the fridge. We really enjoyed 'eating in', and the owners were very flexible with our arrival time due to my work commitments. The only negative was the back bedroom where our teenaged son stayed. He remarked that even with the very nice radiator space heater the owners provided and the bed quilts, it was quite chilly. It probably wouldn't be from spring through fall, but November nights in Maine can be cold."
