  • Great value for a family vacation.

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Anne's Cottage. "Sea View" is a bit deceiving but regardless it is located in a quiet area which was very pleasant for a spring stay The trees were blooming and the smell of lilacs was in the air. It is located across the street from the beach with houses and big beautiful trees blocking the view for the most part. The cottage is very convenient to restaurants and shops.. We found the cottage very clean and supplied with all you may need other than food for meals. The downstairs bedroom was geared towards children and one of the windows had no curtain. Would not think a couple would be comfortable there. The upstairs bedroom was very comfortable. Woke up to the beautiful Maine sunshine coming in the windows. The bathroom has a washer and dryer along with a tub/shower. We did have to hang a sheet over the window. LOL It is right beside the toilet and tub and when the lights are on at night it can offer quite a peep show. The neighbors are not close but we did see them out in their yards often. Easy fix and not a problem. I quess if I had a complaint it would be lack of comfortable seating in the living room. There is a nice love seat and only a wooden chair. A pretty chair but not one to relax in. Off the living room is a large deck. We very much enjoyed sitting out there enjoying nature. I would not recommend the cottage for 2 couples to stay but definitely for an affordable family trip to Maine. Since getting home I have suggested it to a few of my friends. There are not a lot of frills like you might expect from a VRBO rental but it is a true taste of Maine and very comfortable. I would definitely stay there again."

  • Fell in love with Benson Farm six years ago and keep going back!

"We’ve been going to the Benson Farm for the month of August for the past six years – we went on a whim the first year, fell in love with the place and keep going back. Actually, not only did we fall in love but so has our extended family (grandparents, aunts/uncles and cousins) who never miss a chance to come visit us while we are there! You could not ask for a more idyllic corner of the world to relax and enjoy your summer days. The house sits on an expansive property on a small peninsula so you enjoy views of the water from both the East and the West. You wake up in the upstairs bedrooms to the sun rising over the water and you watch the sun set over the Camden Hills on the other side in the evening. We spend most of our time outside – whether playing on the tennis court, jumping into the water off the dock, walking on the beach, biking around the island, playing ping pong or board games in the barn, playing all sorts of sports on the front lawn, or just sitting in the grass or on the porch and enjoying the sun and the beautiful views. Our three children (who are now 13, 11 and 8) love the freedom of being able to bike the three miles to the grocery store and playground/basketball court or the six miles to town to get ice cream or look around the gift shop – it’s a very kid-friendly place. The house is large and there is room for a number of people to stay so it’s a great place for families to get together. We eat, talk, laugh and relax. In fact, from the moment the ferry leaves Rockland to cross over Penobscot Bay to North Haven, you feel the stress melting away. I actually took pictures of various views from the house and put them in my office to try to maintain my North Haven summer zen throughout the year! It’s really a gorgeous spot!"

"Exceptional rental- great location, clean and well maintained home and helpful owners. For a family of 6, we had everything we needed and plenty of room. Easy walk or bike to town and central to all hiking and swimming. Highly recommend!"

  • Perfect for family gathering

"This last June, my wife and I, our children and our children’s children, all 20 of us, spent a delightful June week at Pleasant River Farm on Vinalhaven Island, Maine. The property consisted of a large two story farmhouse decorated with numerous wonderful watercolors by the owner. Added to this was an even bigger open barn with swings, ping pong, picnic tables and plenty of space to just play in. At the back of the barn was another living space with a second kitchen, and 2 bedrooms that could sleep eight. Both buildings had large decks to enjoy. We were well taken care of by the amazing caretaker who answered our every question, took us to see fireworks, and helped us get lobster. There was a huge lawn to play games on and a short walk to water for using the available kayak and canoe. We just loved this indoor and outdoor space. Vinalhaven Island itself had numerous hikes to enjoy, an interesting town just two miles from our farmhouse, quarries to swim in and as much lobster as you could ever eat. We’d recommend this stay to anyone and are seriously considering returning for a second visit."
