  • Great value for a family vacation.

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Anne's Cottage. "Sea View" is a bit deceiving but regardless it is located in a quiet area which was very pleasant for a spring stay The trees were blooming and the smell of lilacs was in the air. It is located across the street from the beach with houses and big beautiful trees blocking the view for the most part. The cottage is very convenient to restaurants and shops.. We found the cottage very clean and supplied with all you may need other than food for meals. The downstairs bedroom was geared towards children and one of the windows had no curtain. Would not think a couple would be comfortable there. The upstairs bedroom was very comfortable. Woke up to the beautiful Maine sunshine coming in the windows. The bathroom has a washer and dryer along with a tub/shower. We did have to hang a sheet over the window. LOL It is right beside the toilet and tub and when the lights are on at night it can offer quite a peep show. The neighbors are not close but we did see them out in their yards often. Easy fix and not a problem. I quess if I had a complaint it would be lack of comfortable seating in the living room. There is a nice love seat and only a wooden chair. A pretty chair but not one to relax in. Off the living room is a large deck. We very much enjoyed sitting out there enjoying nature. I would not recommend the cottage for 2 couples to stay but definitely for an affordable family trip to Maine. Since getting home I have suggested it to a few of my friends. There are not a lot of frills like you might expect from a VRBO rental but it is a true taste of Maine and very comfortable. I would definitely stay there again."

  • August 2015 family vacation and celebration

"This is an outstanding Maine cottage in beautiful Boothbay Harbor. It is spacious, very well equipped and appointed, has a fantastic view of the outer harbor and all of the boating activity, clean and well maintained, has a large lawn areas in both the front and back, beautiful gardens, and a front porch that is a focal point for family gathering and relaxation. The location is idea as it is in a quiet area away from touristy area, yet convenient for everyone's interests. We are a couple in our early 70's who shared the cottage with two or our married sons and their families (10 of us in total). Staying in a nearby cottage were two other sons and their families (8 in total), so for many afternoons and evening we had 18 of us gathered at this wonderful cottage. The kitchen is very large (4 or 5 cooks could work here without being in the way of each other) with a spacious center island, 2 sinks, 2 ovens, and every small appliance and piece of kitchen equipment a large family would need. The great room is just that, "GREAT". Two long sofas and several chairs at one end gathered around a beautiful fireplace and entertainment center and the other end had two dining tables (we put these together so that we could accommodate all 18 of our family), a desk, sideboard, and a beautiful old church pew that would seat 10 people! One evening we hired a caterer who turned this space into a wonderful place for our 50th wedding anniversary celebration! The owners of this property are wonderful and very accommodating -- they love this place and want their quests to love it as well. While there is little reason to leave this property when visiting, it should be noted that there is a lot to do in and around the immediate area: Boothbay Harbor village is a 5 minute drive from the cottage and offers many restaurants, shops, boat tours, rental kayaks, and entertainment; within a 10 - 15 minute drive you can visit a wonderful aquarium, a narrow gauge railroad & antique auto museum (kids love the train ride!), beautiful Southport Island, the Botanical Gardens (a real gem -- don't overlook this first class attraction for all ages!) and more coastal scenery at Ocean Point."

  • "The Best of Them All"

"Our multigenerational family of 11 have vacationed every year in the Wiscasset/Damariscotta area for approx. the past 6 years and every year we try a different cottage. Some on a lake, some in town, some with history. But this Wiscasset property tops them all! The bedrooms were plentiful with multiple options for everyone. With 3 full baths there were no lines or competition for showering (which is remarkable with 3 teenage girls!). The house had many extra amenities that just provided a feeling of luxury. This home by far, provides an extra special experience while vacationing here in this beautiful state."
