  • Stunning views, gorgeous house, well-equipped

"We had a wonderful visit on Vinalhaven staying at this gorgeous shingle style house. Plenty of room for all of us, very clean and tons of character (the granite fireplace is simply stunning). We loved just sitting out on the porch enjoying the view, making scones and lobster dinners in the oversized kitchen) and exploring the paths on the point! Thank you for sharing your lovely home."

  • cozy cottage, spectacular setting

"My husband and I stayed at the Crockett's Cove fisherman's cottage for two weeks. The setting is simply extraordinary, majestic, and pristine. The house sits just above a tidal flat, with the high-tide line only a couple of feet from the back of the house. With the tide going in and out each day, a staggering amount of wildlife parades past the cottage -- great blue herons fishing in the tidal flats, a family of osprey nesting adjacent to the house, the occasional seal, a raccoon with her cubs, squirrels around the house, rabbits, and sea-ducks of all sorts. Nature is close at hand there, and totally cinematic. It was hard for us to tear ourselves away from the property, there was so much to watch and pay attention to. There are many exquisite nature walks on Vinalhaven, and spectacular quarries for swimming, a wonderful farmers market twice a week, several good restaurants, incredibly friendly people -- too many things to experience in one trip. Our hosts were warm, helpful, responsive and prompt. They provided thorough information on the logistical and cultural aspects of the island, the intricate process of bringing a car on the ferry, maps for the nature walks, and even a canoe for exploring Crockett's Cove. The house was clean, nicely maintained inside & out, and well appointed. But -- and this is the ONLY 'but' -- it is cluttered and over-furnished. In the grand scheme, this was a trifling matter. We would rent this cottage again without hesitation, and have already recommended it to friends."

  • The most charming spot in Maine

"When your hostess provides not only a fully equipped kitchen but a potted herb garden just outside the kitchen, you know you have arrived in a place that would meet anyone's aesthetic and sensate expectations. And if you value peace and tranquility, Crockett Cove is the place to rest, restore and appreciate the wonders of Maine. The restored Barn is worthy of Architectural Digest and is featured in the August 2016 Maine Home and Design. We are enjoying every minute of our week at The Barn and only hope this is only our first visit."
