  • Memorable and Exceptional Stay

"Our stay at Whitehead island was incredible and memorable from every perspective- views, excursions both land and sea, food and stay. Gigi and Matt are excellent and knowledgeable organizers and hosts! We were 14 people including 2 kids and very cosmopolitan group (French, Peruvian, Saudi, Chinese, Indian, Spanish and American). Meals: Because of multi-ethnicity, Group decided to have cuisine from different countries and hence prepared our meals in a well organized and equipped kitchen. Matt was incredible in helping us find things, lobster-cooking, grilling hot dogs! Lasagna (both veggie and non veggie), fish, lobseter, Middle eastern falafel, Preruvaian ceviche, spanish tortilla de patatas, smoothies, tuna head.. it was fun fun meal! Excursions: On mainland - Camden, Rockport, Rockland, Mount Battie- gorgeous views.. we happened to be in camden on Winderjaimer (boat) festival. On sea- we went to see seals, other light houses. On island - Matt gave us 2 hour of walking tour of island -- one can choose forest route or thru rocks. It was breathtaking and relaxing. One night, some of us jumped in the water in the night to have an experience of bioluminous where algae will glow. Some of us jumped in day time also from dock! One more thing -- This is the best place to see galaxy (milky way) in night. Overall, this is a perfect vacation getaway for everybody!! we will come back!"

  • If you want PERFECT, then this your place.

"This was our second time staying at the FARMHOUSE. We stayed last year as a BABYMOON and this year as a " Help we are not on a BABYMOON." trip :) Everything was wonderful. The house is a mixture of country and city, and it really is the coziest and warmest place we have ever stayed. from the outdoor shower to the amazing kitchen. SO many pots and pans, wine and beer left in fridge for US. The amazing ping pong location in a barn with a swing overlooking pastures. We walked everyday to the local boat launch, our dog swimming and our 11 month old laughing. I walked to the island at low tied. We sat on the grass in the yard and napped. Being a jaded New Yorker I can say how lovely this place is. There is a farmstand down the street, Thomaston is 15 minutes away. Rockland 20. We went swimming in a lake in Camden and tried to find every ice cream location within 50 miles. The House sleeps IMO 4-6 . There is a downstairs room that we slept in with our child and an upstairs master suit with an amazing bathroom and shower that our friend stayed in. The living room is well appointed and looks like something from a NY loft. Cozy couch, gas stove, tv, dvd player, iPod dock. Grill outside. Laundry Machine. WHAT ELSE DO YOU FREAKING WANT? :) I've never stayed in a place that felt so much like home. TIPS: It's a quiet town and you have to drive about 10-15 minutes to get to Rt 1 but that is the point.. isn't it? The upstairs stairs are a bit steep but no problem for a child if supervision . there are 2 beds upstairs . There are many local shops and wonderful stores. A Walmart for emergencies 20 min away. There is an emergency VET 20 min away that we used when our dog ate an onion. :( You can walk and fish to the bay inlet in 10 minutes. You can jog on the dead end dirt road ...it's 3 miles to the end and back. There is a lovely playground park names " Kevin's park" I think ... near the gas station and general store in CUSHING. a very choice spot with a picnic table and a lovely playground ... perfect for the kids.. If you do have younger kids I would bring a gate as there are 2 stairs up to the kitchen . no problem . we got a $20 dollar one at WALL MART. :) The owners are so kind and even mailed back a bib and clothes we forgot. They left a few of their wines and beers they make in Massachusetts... so tasty. so kind. We can't recommend this home enough. We hope to be back again very soon. -aaron, Brooklyn. ny"

  • The perfect summer pad!

"I had an incredible time in Camden and so much of that was due to picking the right pad - this one - for my stay which included a week with family, short visits with friends and time for just me and my dog. I must say that my dog would write his own review noting that being 1 block from a park and a dog-friendly beach is his idea of the perfect pad. The house is great and well-kept, including service request as needed (the owners also arrange for cleaning service on the weekends!) and includes all the supplies one could need for making it a wonderful summer retreat. I enjoyed leaving all the windows open and the fans on, so not having AC was a non-issue even on the hottest of Maine summer days. The front porch and kitchen are favorite hang spots and the kitchen is exceptional whether for serving take out, bbq or playing cards and drinking wine. I highly recommend this place! AK"
