  • Perfect stay!

"We were in town 4 days for a wedding and this house was just what we were looking for. We really enjoyed the large deck overlooking the river as well as the dock. House had plenty of space and was well appointed. Would definitely recommend!"

  • Great property & location for the ultimate in family relaxation

"Sunrise Cottage is unlike any other property we've ever rented...in a great way! I can't possibly say enough about the perfect location with the beach accessibility, wonderful views of islands & wildlife, and the close proximity to downtown Rockland & Camden for dining out. Be sure to check out Cafe Miranda for some super fresh & funky food! We were able to launch our kayaks easily from the beach and had nightly campfires in the fire pit overlooking the ocean. Even my husband (who has a slightly tough time relaxing) was able to unwind & enjoy the peaceful location & area. We kayaked over to Ash Island on three occasions and successfully hunted for sea glass. Having the 3 separate sleeping quarters was convenient for our extended family & teenagers--not to mention the Xbox 360 in the bunk house. The owner was accessible, friendly & proactive in providing great service. Highly recommended retreat and we'll surely be back."

  • very nice, quiet

"This was perfect for a quiet, off-season week spent working on a novel. Neighbors were nearly invisible. The house has full amenities, heat, beautiful view, few distractions, a big enough yard for kids to run around in, tide-pooling at low tide, and proximity to Boothbay Harbor when you want restaurants and tchotchkes. Good-sized grocery store 5 minutes away. Patronize the good folks at Red Cup Coffee House. Enjoy Italian food at Port, and try the haddock chowder at Oak Street Provisions. I had trouble finding the place because I arrived when it was dark and missed a key turn, but during the day it is easy to find, and very close to the botanical gardens (closed off-season)."

  • Fell in love with Benson Farm six years ago and keep going back!

"We’ve been going to the Benson Farm for the month of August for the past six years – we went on a whim the first year, fell in love with the place and keep going back. Actually, not only did we fall in love but so has our extended family (grandparents, aunts/uncles and cousins) who never miss a chance to come visit us while we are there! You could not ask for a more idyllic corner of the world to relax and enjoy your summer days. The house sits on an expansive property on a small peninsula so you enjoy views of the water from both the East and the West. You wake up in the upstairs bedrooms to the sun rising over the water and you watch the sun set over the Camden Hills on the other side in the evening. We spend most of our time outside – whether playing on the tennis court, jumping into the water off the dock, walking on the beach, biking around the island, playing ping pong or board games in the barn, playing all sorts of sports on the front lawn, or just sitting in the grass or on the porch and enjoying the sun and the beautiful views. Our three children (who are now 13, 11 and 8) love the freedom of being able to bike the three miles to the grocery store and playground/basketball court or the six miles to town to get ice cream or look around the gift shop – it’s a very kid-friendly place. The house is large and there is room for a number of people to stay so it’s a great place for families to get together. We eat, talk, laugh and relax. In fact, from the moment the ferry leaves Rockland to cross over Penobscot Bay to North Haven, you feel the stress melting away. I actually took pictures of various views from the house and put them in my office to try to maintain my North Haven summer zen throughout the year! It’s really a gorgeous spot!"
