  • Thanksgiving Family Retreat

"I have a wife and two teenage daughters and have been traveling to Maine for the past twenty years at all different times of the year. We recently started to visit during Thanksgiving to visit cousins of my wife who live in Cushing. This year, after hearing all of our Maine stories and seeing the pictures through the years, my two sisters wanted to join us. My usual search is to find a seaside property that is reasonably priced with the amenities that we need and with pets allowed (2 year old black lab). This house was everything that I was looking for. Yes, it is a bit of a drive off route 1 (which my family doesn't mind because you get to see the real Maine!!!) but there are two general stores that are close to the property. The homes kitchen was extremely well stocked which made preparation of our Thanksgiving meal pretty easy. We ended up being eight total which the home perfectly accommodated. The views out the rear of the property are breathtaking with the lobster men and women working their catches of the day. Being off season, the Port Clyde General Store was the only local business open. Good for the basics. Nice sit down counter for breakfast and lunch items. The pool table was great with wood burning stove. Well stocked with numerous lobster pots for that quintessential Maine meal!! The home has a very comfortable feel and extremely cozy. We added some jigsaw puzzles to the pile already there. Highly recommend this property to anyone who doesn't mind being a little out of the way."

  • I Would Rent It Again in a Hearbeat

"This wonderful cozy cottage is clean, comfortable, and sits on a lovely high spot overlooking the bay. It has everything a small family or two couples need for a relaxing time off the grid. The hammock, screened in porch with plenty of seating, firepit, grill and Adorondeck chairs were all we needed for enjoying the outdoors while at home. We were amazed that it was truly the quietest place we had ever been...no sounds except for the wind and falling acorns could be heard. The locals at the little grocery store and at Georgetown Pottery just up the road were friendly and helpful about where to go and what to see. Rockland, Boothbay Harbor, and Acadia National Park, as well as plenty of others are within easy driving distance. We were especially interested in local art, and there is plenty. We found the Trip Advisor app to be extremely helpful in taking us down winding roads to artists studios where we found truly talented local artists of all ages. This app also took us to the best pizza, local. music and just about anything else you would want to do. Owners Dave and Susie could not have been kinder or more responsive from my first email to my most recent. Little touches of home like comfortable beds, fluffy towels, coffee and homemade cookies waiting for us, and just about everything else you need were supplied. They also have a National Park pass and plenty of books for your enjoyment during your stay. We can't wait to go back!"

  • Best July 4th Ever

"We rented this place before and loved it so much we came back. The 4th of July celebrations in Castine were an unexpected perk as we had a spectacular view of the fireworks from the deck of the cottage. There was also a very sweet parade on the town green with children in creative, homemade costumes, a band concert, and a sailboat race we watched in the afternoon. The festivities were old-fashioned and small town. The owners checked with us to make sure we had everything we needed. We'll be back again."
