  • Gorgeous home in a beautiful setting

"My family and I just got back from a week stay at this gorgeous Sebago Lake home. We traveled with our almost 3 year old son, parents and friends. The house had plenty of room for all of us. My son loved the sandbox, toys and games. The large table on the deck accommodated all of us for dinner. The house is newer and is incredibly clean, tastefully decorated with just about everything you could need. The master has the best views of the lake and at night you can hear the loons and see the moon sparkling over the water. Off the master is the nursery which is really a 5th bedroom, just doesn't have a closet. You can access it from the master or from the hallway. It was perfect for our son and he loved reading the Goodnight Maine and Goodnight Lake books that were provided. The yard is large, grassy, and shaded, perfect for relaxing. But if you wanted sun you could just sit out on the dock. I recommend bringing beach chairs for this. The dock is great, and since it is new you don't have to worry about splinters. We rented a pontoon boat and were able to pull the boat right up to the dock for easy on and off. The lake in front of the house was calm the whole week except one day. I would recommend bringing water shoes as it is a rocky bottom. We enjoyed canoeing along the shore and paddle boarding (we brought our own paddle board, the house provides a canoe and 2 kayaks). We also loved the location of the home. You can easily get to Sebago Lake State Park and Sand Bar by boat or go over to Frye Island for lunch. By car there is much to get to quickly, including the Good Life Market, a great place for lunch sandwiches, salads and groceries. Bob's Seafood was great for ordering lobsters to eat on the deck, and their lobster mac and cheese is to die for. Mosquitoes Ice Cream was the perfect place for an evening treat. We also drove to Portland a few nights for dinner, not too long of a drive. Amazingly enough I didn't get a single mosquito bite even though we were there in July as the owner sprays the property. I do wish we were given a heads up about the company coming to spray while we were there, but I would rather have them spray and enjoy the outdoors than have to stay inside or cover myself in bug repellent. Gregg, the owner, was very pleasant to communicate with and very responsive. I hope to be able to rent his beautiful lake home again in the future! Highly recommend!!!"

  • Clean, rustic home on a sweet little pond

"The Mr and I spent a week at Haley Hideaway with our 4 kids, dog and 4 of our own kayaks this July. HH gets an easy A from us, for a bunch of reasons: 1. Everyone fit in the house, which doesn't always happen with a family our size. 2. It was clean, like really clean; the windowsills didn't have dirt or bugs between the screens and the windows, which a lot of owners overlook, based on my experiences renting lake houses in Maine. 3. It's an exceptionally peaceful, quiet area. Other than some brief noise from nearby ATVing on the first day, we were left to enjoy the silence. The house is in great shape and had everything we needed. The other reviewers didn't lie. I brought things I didn't need, like my Vitamix (they have a decent-looking blender there), my velour bedspread (what, I hate other people's bedding! However, I never used it because the master bedroom has a...wait for it...really nice velour bedspread.) We enjoyed having 2 TV areas, and brought our PS4 (video game thingy), and had an easy hookup since both TVs are from the HDMI 1 and 2 era. I never played air hockey, but I can still hear the echoes of it because the kids ran to it every time we entered the house. You know what's really nice about this house? The mud room. That is just brilliant in a rental cabin. We had everyone leave their shoes there which kept the place pretty tidy. On the last day, I noticed there's a vacuum cleaner in the master closet. Oh well. The pond appears to have been formed by a dam, which makes for some interesting kayaking scenery. Submerged trees twist and protrude from the clear water around the edges. On some of the banks, there are fields of rocks and boulders presumably left over from glacial activity. We spotted several baitfish traps and spoke with the fisherman tending to them. I think he was the only other person any of us encountered on the pond itself! The kids liked being able to paddle from HH directly to Pine Tree Frosty for lunch and ice cream. There is an easy place to pull in the boats next to the picnic table area. We also tried the "Thai" place next door, which turned out to be more of an Asian cuisine place, but the food was ok. The kids enjoyed Rangeley Lake State Park & Smalls Falls. I enjoyed the reliable wireless signal. Our only dislike was the grill, which didn't get hot enough. To be fair: my husband is uniquely bad at grilling & I didn't bother to help. He said the grill is dumb. Do with that what you will. A+ Haley Hideaway!!!"

  • Perfect house for a group ski weekend!

"We stayed here with a group of 10 for a weekend and it was perfect. Heather makes everything very easy with info about the house and it was even better than we expected! The open floor plan is very welcoming for a large group and everything was very clean. The big kitchen made it very easy for cooking for everyone and all the necessary tools were provided. The wifi was very useful as well with a big group! It was the perfect distance from Sunday River and it made getting to and from the mountain very easy. You can't beat the price for the value and I would recommend this stay to anyone!"
