  • This condo was everything descibed and then some!!

"We chose this property for a girls get away weekend. There was plenty of room for all 7 of us to spread out. The place was immaculate, the beds were comfortable, plenty of towels, the kitchen was fully equipped. We really enjoyed the fireplace and the views across the lake are stunning especially at sunset. We were in close proximity to the activities we chose ( hiked Saddleback Mt., Bald Mt., cross country skied, bowled and danced to the band). The dining table was perfect for eating at as well as game playing and crafting. We lacked for nothing. Everybody agreed that we will definitely rent this place again!! Also, we were allowed to check in early which those of us who had Friday off really appreciated! Thank you for sharing your lovely property!!"

  • Lovely Cottage

"We stayed here for a week in August with our entire family of 6, including a 1 year old. The cottage is in beautiful shape; it actually looks new. Each entryway is tiled, there is an outdoor shower and a nice lawn area. And as someone noted, it is about a mile from Route 302 but we never heard any traffic noise at all. It is right on the community beach (which was very quiet while we were there). We had a wonderful time using the 2 kayaks (there is also a rowboat and canoe), and the Basin area is off the main lake and less wavy, which is perfect for children. The beach is shallow and sandy. It is hard to find a house with "adult bedrooms", and the 3rd bedroom here does have bunk beds but that worked alright for us. 3 bathrooms and a washer/dryer also were a bonus. The only small complaint we had was that the AC units in the main and upper floors were very small. It was a hot week and we had to run them constantly in order to keep the rooms cool. We would have loved to turn them off during the day, open the windows, and then turn them back on in the evening before bed, but that would not have worked. The lower walk out basement room did not have AC (there was a fan), and started to smell a bit damp by the end of the week. Another window unit here would solve this issue easily. We had a couple of very small issues during the week that were promptly dealt with. All in all, we loved the cottage, the neighborhood, and the lake. We would definitely consider returning."

  • Solidly functional, well-cared for and beautifully situated

"Andersen Camp ("Camp" is a Mainer word for “vacation cottage”) is more than a few cuts above par. I believe the owner Dan, or one of his relatives built it by hand, and the caring shows. It’s quite new and well-constructed with nice warm maple-ish wood hewn paneling throughout and wide board, lovely hardwood floors. There are plenty of double-paned windows and two skylights in the main room. You’ll be really happy about those skylights if you visit during wintertime. The kitchen and bathroom accoutrements are simple, but plentiful and functional. Absolutely nothing in the camp is moldy, rusted, smelly, peeling, falling off, or ewey in any way. Bravo! The stuff in the cabinets and drawers is all stuff that you actually might need. There’s an extensive, well-organized binder detailing all of the activities and eating opps in the area. Eating opps are scattered a bit far and wide, but for water, hiking and skiing activities, you got it made. And as a bonus in case you get stuck indoors, there is a DVD player and a small stack of movies that don’t suck. The grounds are very well-tended. There’s a deck, a large yard, a gas grill, and down a little trail is a sweet creek-side spot replete with a fire pit, wood pile and hammock. Also, the house is well set back from the road, so you won’t be disturbed by anything except birds. Dan is super fair about pricing and deposits. I found him a pleasure to deal with in all of our interactions. When I first arrived, there was a smell of propane in the cottage. I called Dan. He responded in a respectful way to my concerns and got the small leak taken care of within the hour. Finally, there is no wi-fi or cable TV here. I got a Verizon jetpack and had fast, 4GLTE MIFI service no problem. If you’re looking for something super fancy, you may want to go elsewhere, but if solidly functional and evidently cared for (with a touch of style) is good enough for you, this is your place."
