"We rented this house the first week of August 2016. The owners, Alice & Eli, were a pleasure to work with and quickly answered all of our questions. Alice was waiting for us at the house the first day and gave us the tour and highlights of things we should know. The house is beautiful. We especially enjoyed the large screened porch, the well-designed kitchen and the huge walk-in shower. This house has lots of charm and character and seems much more like someone’s year-round residence than a vacation rental. There are beautiful antiques, shelves overflowing with books and everything needed for a comfortable vacation week. There’s no Wi-Fi but we had good coverage through our Verizon phones. We spent many hours kayaking on Bryant Pond (AKA Lake Christopher). The lake is assessable by a steep natural path to a set of docks. There’s no beach but there is a ladder that made getting out of our kayaks relatively easy. The lake is fairly large and there were limited power boats and no jet skis on the lake while we were there. The house is a very short distance off a main road with a great convenience store (plus ice cream and delicious pizza) moments away. We’ve vacationed in this area many times over the past years and enjoy the location for its proximity to the North Conway NH area and the availability of ‘civilization’ in the nearby towns of Oxford, Norway, Paris and Bethel. (Be sure to visit the Hungry Hollow Country Store on your way or on one of your tips out! Also check out Brian’s Bistro in Rumford.) You should know that there is an active rail line across the street from the house. A single freight train comes through each weeknight between 10 and 11. We enjoyed the sights and sounds as it came and went out each night to watch it pass by. You should also know that there is a house next door that rents to groups of up to 24 people. We had the ‘neighbors from hell’ during our week that put a serious damper on the quality of our vacation. Eli noted that issues from there are rare. Your results should vary. Overall excellent!"

  • Very relaxing and beautiful!

"I loved this cabin. So cozy and so relaxing. Just what we needed to recharge our batteries and get a bit of R&R. Had everything we needed and was the perfect size. Hope to make a return trip!"

  • Great place to vacation at!

"The cabin was very clean & cozy...well kept. The pictures on line don't accurately show the interior...nice deck overlooking the lake and steps away from the waters edge. Loved using the kayaks & canoe. The lake was perfect temperature for swimming and very clean. A place I would visit again. The Oxford Casino is roughly fifteen minutes drive and although I didn't win...I had a good time. Not many great restaurants in the area, however a lot of construction going on. Many local shops & stores within an hours drive. Winnie was very easy to book the place with and it was easy to find. I also lived that it was pet friendly! I would definitely book the place again...very comfortable. Vicky Wells 7/29/16"

  • We had a great visit to the farmhouse in New Gloucester. Misty was great to communicate with.

"We had a very nice visit to the farm house while attending graduation at Bates College. The four main bedrooms are very comfortable, and the decorations are very charming. We would definitely stay there again."
