  • Charming beach home

"We just left this amazing home on Drakes Island. This is a true family home with plenty of space and a homey atmosphere. We felt welcomed right from the beginning with the owners greeting and showing us around the exquisite property. This is beyond a simple beach cottage and more like staying at a family estate with easy access to one of the most beautiful beaches in Maine. The guest cottage was perfect for small children to stay. There are family momentos around the house that make you feel as though you've known the family for years. We enjoyed the tranquil evenings sitting on the screened porch watching the sunset over the marsh with a cool salt air breeze. There are enough modern conveniences (i.e. gas grill, new refrigerator, cable TV and wifi) combined with old-school charm (i.e. antique furniture, large wooden dining table for 10, and decor). Our family has rented many properties on Drakes Island through the years, and this is one of the most well-kept and comfortable homes in which we have stayed. Thank you to the Malcolm family for giving us the opportunity to share their home with us and create new family memories."

  • Perfect home at Goose Rocks!

"My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) had a wonderful stay in Audrey and Paul's home! It is definitely more of a home than a cottage. The entire house is updated, and is nicely decorated with pastels and beautiful, clean furniture. It is a very short stroll to the beach, only a street back from the ocean. There's actually an ocean view in one of the top floor rooms. We had no problem quickly stopping back into the house when we needed to use the restroom, or forgot something at the beach. Since it is more a house than a cottage, we made sure our kids were extra careful with the light colored rugs, furniture, etc, so definitely a place for you if you're willing to be extra careful of your surroundings. Goose Rocks is an amazing beach, and this is a great house, can't go wrong!"

  • Great comfortable value, prime location

"My family of two adults and two kids, ages 4 and 6, stayed here for a long weekend to attend a friend's wedding in Kennebunkport. The cottage was just as advertised, and there is also a great kids' play area - sand pit and play structure, as well as basketball hoop - in the central area. There is also a picnic table out back by the stream that we ate most meals at; breakfasts though were out front in the adirondacks in the bright sun. The location was excellent, with Parsons beach just down the road - like others, we drove instead of walked simply because we had kids (and when we were there, parking was fine) but the walk looked quite reasonable and goes along a very pretty tree-lined street alongside a horse farm. Kennebunk and Kennebunkport are very close indeed, and this was the best price we found for this area and had everything we needed. What was not clear from the property description and pics is that this is part of a group of vacation rental cottages - most now individually owned as condos, but still rented via a central house/office. That meant that - although less private - when we faced an issue - from needing an iron, to facing a clogged toilet (and no plunger) - there was on-site help available. It also meant the great play area was there for the kids to delight in. The road noise from Route 9 can be appreciable - the cottages are really right next to the road - but there's also a sweet stream out back and the frogs' chorus was beautiful, as was the morning birdsong. The kitchen is small but it's a cottage so that goes with the territory - and the nearby towns have an *abundance* of restaurants to complement your home cooking. All in all, great value, comfortable beds, great location. We would come here again."

  • Camp Runamuck

"We spent Labor day week at this beautiful log home, with my 86yr old mother, handicap brother, The house was equipped with all anyone would need.Clean and lovingly maintained and decorated. The lake is a short walk down a rather steep incline for my Mom. But the owner was very gracious and let us use his driveway to drop Mom off and also the use of his beautiful beach in front of his home after he had left. Hope to return in 2016 if possible"
