  • Peaceful location

"I searched high and low (and many, many hours online) for rental homes and cottages that would fit our needs, desires and budget for a week vacation in beautiful Maine. This was our 1st stay at Drakes Island (we had driven through the neighborhoods and fell in love with the trees, grassy yards and family friendly feel the year prior). This home, located on the North end of the private beach section was just was I was looking for! The private beach entrance is a walk across the street, you can see and hear the ocean from the house and the location is QUIET- not crowded and noisy as some beach areas can be! This is a location surrounded by long time residents of the island...no other rentals are nearby. If you are looking for a peaceful location in a respectable area, then this is the place for your visit. The owners take great pride in the cottage and it is well equipped, comfortable and clean. They took time and effort to compile a binder full of local favorite restaurants, sites to see, things to do and the history of Drakes Island as well as the history of many of the residents who live or have lived on DI. It truly is a friendly place to stay and we felt very comfortable there for our week. The owners welcomed us with a plate of fresh cookies upon arrival- how kind! Thanks you Elizabeth, Michael and Lauren for opening up this cottage for our summer "bucket-list" get away! Nothing better than falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves!"

  • Had a super time here

"We had a great time in Ogunquit and the accommodations we rented were perfect. We had a party of five ranging in ages from 7 to 85, so we were not an easy group to accommodate. This home has all the conveniences, is all one level, and is in an extremely convenient location. And the owner/manager of the home is terrific - she provided great local info and was fast and responsive to any questions we had. Highly recommend this spot if you are thinking of a trip to Ogunquit."

  • Everyone loved it!

"We had the pleasure of staying in this house at the beginning of September: 10 people ranging from 15 to their 50’s. Our stay was fabulous and, if fact, if we can coordinate everyone, we would try to repeat next year. The house itself is beautiful, welcoming and very comfortable. The common rooms are wonderful: Ocean views as you cook, eat, or just talk in the kitchen, in the dining room and main living room (and, also, ocean views from the side verandah which was a favorite for many of us). You can tell this house has been built by owners who wanted to appreciate the environment and get maximum enjoyment from the outside while inside with family and friends. It’s also well designed so that there is plenty of space if anyone wants some quiet time. (We did, on arrival, meet the owner, Nate, who happened to be in Maine and also the person who looks after the house, Peter. Both were extremly friendly, helpful, and easy to relate to. We saw Peter again, only on departure, and, again, he was realy pleasant and friendly.) All the bedrooms were nice, those facing the ocean are, of course, very, very nice. In these, you have the joy of hearing the waves as you fall asleep if you so wish, or closing the doors to good insulation (we chose to hear the waves :). Of course, the house’s immediate surroundings, with Sea Point Beach steps away, was great! We had brought boogie boards and skim boards or just relaxed on the beach. We also had our own bikes and explored some of the nearby region (since the roads can be narrow, some of us stayed in the immediate region but others ventured by bike up to Old Orchard and to Portsmouth). We had never been to the most southern part of Maine and the area was a wonderful surprise. It’s charming. We did one small hike but, with more time, there were lots of others we would have done. All of us thought that there were other activities we would have loved to do… So, as mentioned, if we can coordinate a repeat visit… we will!"
