  • A great place to relax!

"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Chickadee Suite and all the "little" touches Donna and Kevin provide to make it "home". The fully equipped kitchen could have been used for every meal, complete with a full size oven and refrigerator! There was a small gas BBQ on the back deck as well. Everything was super clean and comfortable. And there is a TV in the main sitting room/kitchen, as well as one in the bedroom (not that we were in the suite that much!). The only "be advised" is that it is located directly on Rte. 3, and early morning road noise can be your wake up call. Other than that, everything is just lovely! Conveniently located to Acadia, Bar Harbor and all of MDI."

  • Perfect Location for Relishing Island Life on Islesboro

"What a wonderful location on the island for slowing down, taking a deep breath, and relishing life on Islesboro. The lovely home sits in the middle of the island so it's easy to go up-island or down-island. Plus you have a true sense of privacy. Adirondack chairs that sit next to a short drop-off overlooking the Penobscot Bay or sitting on the property's beach were our family's go-to places to read, zone, meditate, or write. Even our 2 teens got into this pattern. They also thoroughly enjoyed the provided kayaks w/ PFDs for exploring the calm bay. Poking around on the property's beach, especially at low-tide, with no time constraints --- heaven! The island has 2 small markets (Durkee's and Island Market) that have a surprisingly nice variety of groceries/household supplies and each are a very short drive from the house. Be sure to research your food options & store hrs ahead of time so you know what you'll want to bring with you from the mainland though. The home has a generous amount of towels/linens and a nice variety of kitchen pots/pans/dishes, including an outdoor propane-fueled lobster cooker. Free WIFI is available 24/7 just a 10 min walk down the road at the public library. Thank you Alan for making your home available for those of us that relish living a more quiet, serene life, even if just for a week."

  • Spectacular View, 10 Minutes North of Greenville, Great Owner

"This comfortable home overlooking Beaver Cove/Moosehead Lake is a perfect place for people who want to enjoy the restaurants and shops and outdoor activities in and near Greenville, while also savoring the serenity of quiet mornings and evenings overlooking the water. The other reviewers all accurately describe the great amenities and comforts of the house, so I'll focus on all the fun things you can do within a short distance of the house, that is, when you can pull yourself away from watching fawns explore the yard and bed down in the tall grass, watching their mother relax in the raised bed against the house, listening to the loons, and enjoying the meanderings of a wild turkey. We enjoyed a 3-hour cruise on the 1914 steamboat Kathadin to view the July 3 fireworks, visited the January 1963 still-intact crash site of a huge B-52 plane that crashed into Elephant Mtn. during an Air Force training exercise, spotted a moose during a moose safari canoe trip with Northwoods Outfitters, bought some wine from the Spotted Cat Winery (flavored with fresh fruits and even parsnips), took the quick boat shuttle in Rockwood to Mt. Kineo and then hiked 2 miles to the top of the bluff, and enjoyed eating at the Stress Free Moose Pub and Cafe and Kelly's Landing. We also went swimming down in Beaver Cove and took a couple of shoreline hikes at beautiful Lily Bay State Park. We took a day trip over to Moxie Falls on the other side of Greenville and had lunch in The Forks and an ice cream at the trading post in Jackman. We ran out of time and sunshine before we could get up to Baxter State Park to hike Sentinel Mtn. and look over to Mt. Katahdin. There are so many things to do in this area! So we plan to return some day to this very house. And it was so easy to work with Rebecca - she was always super prompt in answering all my questions during the reservation process. Highly recommend this rental."

  • Beautiful Home- Fantastic Time!!

"Our family was lucky enough to find this spot for a winter/early Spring get away, and had an absolutely fantastic time! The house was spacious enough that three couples did not have to bump into each other constantly. Views were amazing. Took a walk on the beach out front and enjoyed watching the waves. Can only imagine how lovely this would be in the summer months. The house provided more than we were expecting: Apple TV so we were able to keep updated on our shows, a high chair and toys for our toddler, beach towels to use after our hot tub dip (A+ hot tub!!) and more. The property manager Tia was so helpful through the whole experience (we've only used VRBO one other time) and she was warm and accommodating when we had to call for a quick question. What a great spot, could not be closer to the coast if you tried. Anyone would be lucky to stay here...thank you!!! -The Welch Family"
