  • Maine at its Best

"We are frequent visitors to Maine and love the beauty and peace we find there. This house is the epitome of these qualities. The view is spectacular and the sound of the breaking waves lulled us to sleep each night. Every convenience is provided. We enjoyed our week very much. Thank you!"

  • A touch of heaven

"My mother always wanted to go to Maine, so my sister, mom, two boys (12&9), myself and dog piled in the car and left Long Island and headed north! When we arrived it was late and dark. Peter greeted us upon arrival and was very warm to my family. The cabin was very clean and perfect for all of us. When we woke up the next morning, we were amazed by the view. The lake was beautiful and the property was large with many private settings. There was so much to do. Kayaks, a paddle boat and a canoe and tons of life jackets were at our disposal. My son fished all day...and into the night off the dock. Our dog loved the private sandy beach and played for hours in the lake. We all had a wonderful time at this special place. Jane and Peter couldn't have been more accommodating. We absolutely recommend staying at Stonecroft if your looking to slow things down and enjoy the beauty of Wislon lake. You will not be disappointed. We are looking forward to our next stay!"

  • Consistently Exceptional

"We traveled back to this cottage for the third time and from the moment we got out of the car and heard the surf below breaking along the shoreline we knew why we keep returning to this special place. The cottage is very private surrounded by woods and outstanding vistas across the Penobscot Bay. Dozens of wild finches feeding off the rear deck and accomidations that offers all the comforts of a home well cared for and maintained. The thing that keeps bring us back is the relaxation we feel from being in the cottage with the fireplace burning and the sunset across the bay directly off the rear of the house. The only regret we have is not staying longer ...."

  • Charming farmhouse, isolated location, striking distance to everything

"My wife, our ten and seven year old children, our dog, and I spent a wonderful and relaxing week in Lamoine. The farmhouse is rustic and charming. The property offers children lots of opportunities to play and explore. The stars are amazing. While rustic, modern amenities are also available: WIFI, satellite TV, and a bluetooth stereo receiver. There are a number of things to do that are minutes away. Lamoine Beach and Raccoon Cove are spots for foraging clams and mussels, kayaking, or watching the sunrise. While my daughter painted the sunrise at Lamoine Beach, I foraged some rose hips and we made rose hip jam, adding some of the crab apples that grow behind the farmhouse for pectin. There's al fresco pizza available at the nearby goat farm, Seal Cove Farm. There are fresh egg sellers and lobster boils along the road on the way into Elseworth. Elseworth has super markets for stocking up and Roster Brother's for gourmet cheese, cold cuts and dry goods. They have excellent coffee. We had lunch at Serendib, a Sri Lankan restaurant, in Elseworth, which was very, very good. We visited Acadia three times and it's about a 30 minute drive to the Mt. Desert Island part of the park. We also visited Scoodic Point which is a longer drive, but well worth a visit. The Down East Maine Coast is a beautiful place, affording many opportunities for good times and good food. We'll definitely be back and would stay at Fox Hollow again. Other things worth checking out: - Acadia Deep Sea Fishing, they send you home with lobster from their traps. It's a rather long trip and not the best if you're prone to sea sickness - J & P's Farm Market in Trenton, good local produce, frozen Herring Brothers steaks. - Morning Glory Bakery in Bar Harbor"
