  • Spacious, peaceful, immaculate, waterside cottage.

"We spent an idyllic 12 days at Wells Cottage to celebrate our mother's 80th birthday. Everything in the listing description is accurate, but cannot possibly do justice to what a charming, comfortable, clean and well-appointed place we found upon arrival. John Wells is exceptionally responsive to phone calls and email, both in making reservations and also during our stay. We found an informative binder on the dining room table; essential info (where to find linens, wifi password, etc), as well as interesting tidbits of local history. He stopped by shortly after we arrived and provided a comprehensive walk-thru (and more local history). Having visited quite a few properties that advertised recreational equipment, I was truly impressed that the kayaks, paddles, life vests, and bicycles were of good quality and in very good condition. Someone was kayaking or biking every day we were there. There is enough equipment that several people could go out together at one time and enjoy each other's company, which was one of the main objectives of our family retreat. Inside the cottage we found many thoughtful touches: games, puzzles, books, terrific cable TV service. In the spacious basement there were a ping pong and fussball tables. The kitchen was very well stocked and we used it constantly. It is galley style with a retro feel. If you're looking for granite countertops and stainless appliances, this ain't it. BUT, we found everything we needed for meal prep and there is a FANTASTIC 5-burner gas stove that was a joy to use. There were 12 of us for a couple days and we still had plenty of room around the dining room table. (If you're not into cooking, plenty of great restaurants a short drive away.) Wells Cottage is quiet and secluded, yet convenient to groceries, restaurants, convenience stores, downtown Annapolis, and Baltimore Washington International Airport. We spent many happy hours relaxing on the screened porch admiring the scenery, bird watching, and talking. Highly recommend this unique property. Mom's 80th birthday celebration was a huge sucess and we hope to return some day."

  • Warm Cozy Home within short walking distance of USNA & State Street

"My family consisting of four people spent 4 nights in this charming place. Our son plays football for Navy and we were in town for the Army Navy game. While the game didn't come out the way we hoped (that will change next year), it was nice to bring our son to a house and be able to relax. Including him, we had 5 people for 24 hours and had plenty of room. This was so much nicer than a hotel and its proximity to downtown and the USNA is awesome. As stated in many reviews, the house is exactly as depicted in the photos. The first floor is spacious with new kitchen appliances, a small fireplace/stove, and was decorated for Christmas. Very nice with room to spread out. There is also a half bath and the couch makes out into a bed. Upstairs, though older looking has two bedrooms with three beds. A queen in the master bedroom, and a double and single bed in the second bedroom. There is also a full bath/shower. Be aware if you are tall that the upstairs ceiling and door frames are low. At 6'3" i managed to only bang my head once. The owner furnishes parking passes but finding a parking space was very challenging. If possible, renting a smaller size vehicle would help. Since we had a lot of luggage we rented a Ford Explorer and were only able to park in front of the residence one night. There is a parking garage about a 10 minute walk away that charges $20 for overnight parking. This is where we had to park 3 of the 4 nights. Having said this, I think anyone who is familiar with the streets near downtown Annapolis would't be surprised this could happen. It is certainly not a deal breaker. Overall, I would highly recommend the house. As stated above, it so much nicer and accommodating for spending time together than a hotel. The owners were accessible and great to work with. Five Stars!!!"

"We were in town for a wedding. This place was perfect. it is five minutes from the wedding venue. It had great views and the decor was cute. There was plenty of room for the 6 of us. Great place to hang out and enjoy the view. The owner came over and introduced her self, she is very nice!!!"
