  • Great Stay!

"We had a wonderful stay for New Year's weekend. Worked out beautifully for our group of 8 to relax together with a fire going, great kitchen for making meals and space for playing games. Home was very clean and we had all that we needed!"

  • Fantastic Weekend

"This house and property was perfect for what we needed. We had such a great time and wish we could've stayed longer. The house was plenty big for 7 guys, not to mention the yard is great if you want to set up a few tents. We spent most of the time outside either playing wiffle ball or other games, sat by the fire pit, took the boat out on the water, paddle boarding, and grilling. The property is great, plenty of space, densely wooded, couldn't hear or see any neighbors and as far as I know, we were not heard by any (7 guys can be loud sometimes). It was really a great time and Kim was more than accommodating. Such a great host, and helpful. Her and Steve were so friendly and ready to help or answer any questions we had. We asked to be shown around the docks and they were more than happy to do so. It's so refreshing to meet genuinely nice and friendly people. We were nervous with 7 of us that it might not be what we'd hoped but we were pleasantly proved wrong. I would say this is great for small groups of friends, families, and couples will enjoy the peace and quiet. We will definitely be revisiting! Thank you!"

  • Great base for exploring Brandywine Valley

"A bit overdue on the review but we just wanted to reiterate what other reviewers have stated and that we had a wonderful time at this house. It was better than the pictures, very clean, modern, well stocked - fully functional kitchen & paper products provided (they even had produce wash!). The only thing you really need to bring is shampoo & bodywash. There's a 2 car garage and nice deck with lounge and dining furniture. We wish we could have spent more time on the deck but we visited during a heat wave. We did see some horses out in the pasture beyond this property. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom upstairs. The main floor has a study/office room that has a pull out sofa which can be used as an enclosed 3rd bedroom and a bathroom. There's a kitchen area and then 2 living areas for relaxing in. The basement contains the washer/dryer. We were there during a heat wave and the AC worked really well - if you're in the 2nd bedroom upstairs you need to shift the bed over a bit since the AC vent is being blocked by one of the twin beds (there are also ceiling fans in both upstairs bedrooms). Great base for exploring the area - we were mainly there to visit Longwood gardens. The house is not far from the major highway so it was very easy to get around yet still felt very serene. Short drive away are Kennett Square (check out Talula's Table / Nomadic pies for take away on days you don't feel like cooking). Groceries/big box stores are within close distance. Enjoyed stocking up on mushrooms to cook at home (mushroom capital of the world!) and wine tasting (overpriced for quality IMO but still fun). Very easy to get in touch with owner's representative via email or by phone (faster response) prior to booking. There are contact numbers and some instructions once you get there and it was always easy to get in touch with them by phone during our stay. Only con would be that they don't use paypal for booking so you will need to mail in a check/money order. Would recommend this property for those planning to visit this area."

  • Beautiful home, outstanding service

"We just spent Christmas week at this beautiful home on a river in rural maryland. We had a large party, including a 7 month old baby and my 89 year old father and many in between - everyone was very comfortable and had a wonderful time. There are so many living spaces, making it possible to have separate rooms and even separate spaces within the great room in case someone needed to get the baby to sleep or do a little work. We spent most of our time in the giant and well-stocked kitchen and in the great room, which has a fireplace at each end, a dining table in the middle, and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water. Even in winter, the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. The beds were comfortable, and there is a large TV room upstairs that we used to accommodate extra sleeping sites for teenagers; there is also another TV/game room in the basement with pacman-type console and a nice air hockey table, as well as board games. Great family spot or spot for a group of friends! We would definitely come back to this house, and are considering trying to arrange a stay in the summer, when the dock and sun chairs and sun porches and kayaks could be used more than we could in December. The nearest grocery is not too close, but it's only a 10-15 minute drive and as long as you plan on this, the remote location is a lovely feature. Not a problem for our group, but there are steps down into the sunken living room with no railing that might be difficult with very small children; the main stairs going up to the bedrooms are also uncarpeted and seem slippery and dangerous to me. Racing around in socks could be dangerous. Thanks especially to Woody, who was always available to make us feel at home, to tell us how everything worked and where we might find what we needed; in addition when we left a laptop in the house, he quickly boxed it up and mailed it back to us - we are very grateful!"
