  • What a wonderful cottage!

"Our family of four spent several days here in January and was it ever spectacular! The house was very cozy and very well equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. It is evident that the owner spent a lot of time (and money!) bringing this old cottage back to its former glory including wonderful decorating and furnishings. The beds were very comfortable and main the bathroom perfect for our group. There are water views on opposite sides of the property as it is located on a point and walking the neighborhood was beautiful and very relaxing. Not knowing the area when we booked, we "used the force" and ended up in what we all agreed was the best spot in spite of all of our explorations. Graul's Market on the way into town has great gourmet supplies as did the Village Shoppe and a stop in to the Blue Crab Coffee company for the obvious as well as treats (I know I smelled curry!) and Lyon Distillery (GREAT rum!) are well worth it. We enjoyed having the east shore to ourselves in this off-season but plan to return in the summer!"

  • Great place for a quiet getaway.

"The cottage was very nice, clean, and well decorated. It has all the amenities we needed for a quiet weekend away. The property is great, nice views and huge waterfront. We had fun despite the lousy weather on our trip."

  • Peace and fresh air!

"This was our our second visit to Bay Galle - a very good family home, peacefully situated right at the far end of Atlantic Avenue in North Beach. Loads of space, easy off street parking, and surrounded by water on 3 close as 15ft! There is no better place to have breakfast or evening dinner than sat on the wooden balcony (3 sides of the property) with a gentle sea breeze watching the Ospreys and crab boats. There are a couple of decent kayaks and a new paddle board supplied, and they can be launched from your own private harbour at the back of the home. For those that like crabs (and we do) there are a couple of crab pots available to catch your dinner. Chesapeake Beach about a mile away has a good supermarket (Rolands) which also features it's own liquor section - well stocked with good beers and wine. North Beach has a busy 'Farmers Market' every Friday evening (complete with hot rods display), where it seems the whole population turn out. We went into DC, which is only 30-40 mins and suprisingly simple as road you take becomes Pennsivania Avenue and that leads you straight to Union Station and Congress. We chose to park in the big Union Station car park as it was easy! You can also get in on the Metro from Branch Ave Station - which is free parking on weekends. We visited the Marine Museum on Soloman's Island (very good), Baltimore (aquarium is a 'must visit' along with historic ships, a submarine) and loads of other stuff. Hidden away on the middle harbour is the Baltimore Museum of Industry - great museum! I'm a train fan and there are some heritage lines within driving distance. On this visit the West Maryland Scenic Railway sadly had their huge steam loco out of service, but we travelled for a couple of hours to 'Steam into History' - north of Baltimore, which features a replica civil war era wood burning it happened we arrived on a civil war re-enactment weekend complete with Confederate attacks and defence by our on-board Unionist soldiers. Truly excellent. This is a lovely peaceful property close enough to visit DC and much more but with the sea literally on your doorstep to wash away the stress of life..."
